Something Strange is Happening in the South...

Aetoris notes the three that left and at the end of the drill period, goes to find them, before addressing the nobles.
Sep 20, 2018 12:40 pm
@Aetoris: Are you going to sneak up or just walk brazenly towards them?

@The rest: The big lizard bug like creature is too heavy for Kuz to carry alone. Especially, not the half an hour journey it would take to return to Fort Naleth. I think you came with a cart though, right? Anyway, the creature is unconscious yet stable. It will regain consciousness in 4 hours. How would you like to go about getting it back to the fort?

Aetoris moves as silent as death through the camp after the trio that took off, his steps making no noise whatsoever, thanks to his supple boots.

Rolls

Stealth (adv from boots, minimum result of 25 from reliable talent) - (1d20+15, 1d20+15)

1d20+15 : (9) + 15 = 24

1d20+15 : (9) + 15 = 24

@Aetoris: You track the trio to a small grove. They are sitting around a fallen log. They seem to be passing a drink around and laughing as if someone just told a joke. They do not appear to have spotted your approach.

Aetoris hides a bit away, just close enough to hear the men. He waits to see if he can hear anything they are talking about before determining his next move.

Rolls

Perception (Minimum 25 from reliable talent) - (1d20+15)

(7) + 15 = 22

@Aetoris: You catch a snippet of conversation. A young voice says Me? Seemed like a good idea at the time. The Empire hasn't been at war for ages. Much better than living on the streets. Better life expectancy, that's for damned sure. You?

Then an older, gruffer voice chimes in Got picked up for petty theft. Took the King's Bargain. Better to serve my time in the military rather than rot in a jail cell. Still my time's almost up. Then I'll get outta here. Might go see my folks up north.
Sep 24, 2018 2:22 pm
Aetoris appears between the two men as silently as he had approached, before talking out from under his hood, fingers not straying too far from the hilt of his rapier.

Yes, we've not been at war, but as you are both still receiving your wages as sworn men at arms, you will not sneak away during training, nor in the field. While the others haven't seen, I have. However, I feel like you may be of better use not on the front lines. I think you lot will need to work with our scouting teams, you move quietly enough. Plus, it may keep your hide intact a moment or two longer. Aety says as a means of announcing himself to the group.
Sep 24, 2018 9:29 pm
I don't remember very well, but I assume we came with a cart since we're here to try and capture the bugs. If so, I'll tie the big creature with ropes and pull it on the cart with the horse(s?), the fly and myself. If not, I'll simply pick up 1 or 2 normal ones.
Sep 25, 2018 1:53 pm
@Aetoris: The three men almost piss themselves when you suddenly appear amongst their midst. They are pretty shaken by your entrance and don't immediately respond to your statement. One, slightly bolder than the rest responds:
What's in it for us?
The others look at the speaker and then look towards you expectantly.

@the others: You manage to load the creature onto the cart and you drive it back to the fort. What would you like to do with it?
Sep 25, 2018 3:51 pm
Since it's still alive, Kuz will stay near the big creature (still tied down) and make sure nobody gets near it for their own safety, except for those that will examine it. And even then, Kuz will try to do as much of the handling himself to keep everybody from harms reach.
Sep 28, 2018 5:37 am
Is there anything anyone you would like to do with the creature?
Sep 29, 2018 10:20 am
You mamage to secure the beast by clearing out the stables. It is now fully locked in and chains secure the creature and severely limit its movements.

The sun begins to descend even further. The troops finish their drilling and return to their camps.

You know notice that there is approximately 2 hours less daylight then there should be. The days are clearly getting unnaturally shorter.
OOC:
Please let me know what your intentions are for the next day. If you don't then I will assume that you stay inside the keep and I will move time forward one game day per real day (starting Monday) unless someone stops me.
Oct 1, 2018 1:09 pm
What's in it for you is that you get to wake up every day breathing. I found you now, and I will find you again if that happens. Next time, it won't be words interrupting your thoughts, it will be the tip of an arrow or the thrust of a blade and I'll be well shot of all of you. I'd prefer you to help, so you can see your folks back north or whatever brothel you want to crawl into. Hells, I'll even by your first girl - or guy - your choice.

Kuz will keep watch over the creature, and once every few hours will commune with nature to keep watch around the camp. He will also check if the creature appears as a empty zone...

OOC:
@Aetoris: Intimidate check please with advantage.
Oct 1, 2018 2:12 pm
OOC:
Intimidation. Minimum of 16 because of Reliable Talent.
OOC:
Really glad these crappy rolls have been on Reliable Talent things. Though getting a solid intimidate would have been nice here. *grumble*

Rolls

Intimidation (Advantage). Minimum result of 16 - (1d20+6, 1d20+6)

1d20+6 : (3) + 6 = 9

1d20+6 : (2) + 6 = 8

@Aetoris: You get the feeling that they don't fear you that much maybe because they don't have any personal experience fighting for you. In addition, threatening troops for slacking off and then sending them off into the wilderness to scout for you may not be the best idea in the world.

@Kuz: You don't notice any pocket of empty space around the creature. It doesn't appear to have any anti-magic properties.

And please give me a perception check for your perimeter watch.

perception check...

(6) + 6 = 12

Skipping back just a tad to when the party brought the creatures back to the fort. (Sorry for the delay - my life became rather chaotic for a couple of weeks.)
As the group approaches the fort, Rolana appears to be fully focused on conversation with her party members. In fact, she is surreptitiously watching the people in the surrounding encampment and the soldiers as the returning adventurers parade their hideous, giant prize. Her goal is to note whether anyone is paying too much - or too little - attention to the creature.

If anyone here is in league with whomever is behind this plot, she thinks, they'll likely be shocked that we managed to capture this beast. If they don't have much self-restraint, they might gape at us before recovering. And if they do have self-restraint, they may just overplay it by pretending not to be amazed and appalled by this grotesque thing.
OOC:
Rolling a perception check. Reliable Talent applies.

Rolls

Perception - (1d20+6)

(10) + 6 = 16

OOC:
I think I'll use your insight score for that.
Anyway, several of the crowd are taken aback as you drive the huge beast into the fort. You don't see anything that looks suspicious.
