That may not be a bad plan Oma Salie. he says, turning to the others. I know many of us are well used to spending days on end in the saddle. Would it make sense for our purposes that those with fancy flying brooms use those, and the main group moves alongside them. A few of us take the vanguard and act as advance scouts. We're going to be riding a full week, it won't put us off too much to have us use fast riders to go ahead and set camp while the others come behind. Aetoris offers after Oma looks about. After all, you've all not had the - ah - pleasure of Oma's rants after a day of travelling. No amount of medicinal herbs on the face of the world to make that bearable. he says, throwing a wink at his old friend as they proceed to the stables.

Aetoris shakes his head once, clearing the well-known haze from his mind. That old mare should have been put to pasture a full year earlier than she was, Rolana. I'm just glad I finally have a decent set of boots to keep prying horseteeth from my delicate skin. he quips back, before looking to Oma.

You make your way to the stables, mount your horses (or other mounts) and begin heading south. You know that the small town of Gilden's Repast is about three days journey from Celria and it is the closest settlement to Fort Naleth.
For the most part your journey is quite uneventful. It's amazing how uneventful journeys are when you ride in company with the King's Champion, especially when he decides to unfurl the kings standard. Bandits and other low threats seem to sense your power and melt away into the dark pits of the earth rather than face you.
On Your first night out you recieve a message from one of the King's magicians. Beware. Fort Naleth has reported some unusual seismic activity. They are experiencing some sort of low rumbling sound and the ground is continuously vibrating.
At dawn, six hours later you get another message. The vibrating is getting worse. Naleth reports that something appears to be emerging from the ground. Some kind of giant structure. A giant pyramid or mountain. They can see it in the distance.
The rest of your second day is somewhat uneventful. The sun is beginning to set when you spy movement in the distance.
As you get closer you see that it's a group of farmers running North up the road. As soon as you're in shouting distance one of them hails you.
Oh thank Pelor. The King must have sensed our danger. Champion, lords and ladies. You must help us. An enormous creature has emerged from the ground and it's eating our village. Please help us!

Adressing himself to the group, "This creature related to troubles maybe. We should see it, maybe give clue to what we face."
Apr 16, 2018 6:16 pm
Anwin dismounts her broom and approaches the farmers. yes, thank Pelor, we are here to assist. Now if you could be ever so helpful and describe this beast. You said it's eating your village? Like as in whole?
Or smaller portions? From the ground? Is it always in the ground? Or emerges sporadically?

"Those poor people... we must help them, and quickly!" With a confirmed menace so close at hand, Tinwë is ready to charge ahead.
Apr 16, 2018 11:19 pm
It came straight out of the ground. It's huge. It has four legs and it's eating everything. Trees, livestock even the walls of the store! Taller than two men and covered in some kind of hard plating like a shell. Our blacksmith tried to drive it off with a spear and it bit him in half! Come with us hurry.

"No lose time, have big worm to kill. Nodding towards Tinwë, Kuz takes the lead.

"Your village is straight ahead down this road?! She waits only moments before spurring her horse to greater speed.
Apr 17, 2018 1:33 am
"Worms aren't known to have legs, Champion, but the sentiment remains the same; quickness is essential." Ryestro follows after Kuz, sending his raven off in front of them.
Apr 17, 2018 2:54 am
@Ryestro: Your raven flies up and South, you spy the village quickly. It is a litttleways to the East. Maybe one hour's ride down a fork in the road. You see the monster easily enough. It is huge. Easily the size of an adult, perhaps even an ancient, dragon. It appears to be muching on an orchid of red apple trees. No one seems to be in any immediate danger. You have never seen this beast before no heard of anything resembling it, but some of your more extensively read companions may have heard something...
Make a nature or history check if you would like more information about the beast.

Tinwë mentally sorts through the hundreds of ballads she's memorized to see if description of such a beast has ever been made legend by a poet's quill.

Having fought so many monster, Kuz just tries to remember if he ever killed anything resembling this description.
"Comes out of ground, big, eats a lot, this clearly is dragon with no wings!!", exclaims Kuz with certainty. "Should be easy kill for us."

Oma Salie steps of her broom, immediately reaching into one of her pockets, but then looking at Aetoris, pausing for a second and asking. Is this one of those "no time to make some tea to calm down" moments?
Apr 18, 2018 1:29 am
Aetoris casts a sidelong glance at Oma before chuckling once softly. Yes Oma, this is one of those moments. Unless you have a special tea blend with you that'll turn Hulk over there into a much larger version of himself, I'm afraid the herbs will be limited in utility until after we deal with this - whatever it is. He says, taking his longbow off his back and setting an arrow to his string.

Those of you who fly make it to the apple orchid considerably faster than those on horseback. The creature seems to be happily munching on apple trees and poses no immediate danger to anyone. It doesn't look up, so it never even notices the flyers.
You may initiate combat or interact with the creature as you wish.

Anwin, lands here broom about 150' from the creature and turns to Oma (and any other person who flew there as well)
Well this big guy here isn't too menacing. Yes a bit of a problem, well big problem, but he's harmless. Ummm mostly harmless. Anyone have a way of schoooooing him out of here? Maybe we could send him back where he came from. By the way where did he come from?
