Something Strange is Happening in the South...

For now Kuz finds it more important to see if somebody can be saved than investigating an old scar on the head of the bulette. He goes to the underbelly and starts cutting it open to get to the stomach.

Landing near Hulk, Fah'lin is about to speak when he starts to open the beasts stomach. Quickly she uses her boots to move away from the champion before she gets splashed with gore. Still within range of the smell though she puts a handkerchief to her nose before speaking. "The question remains, what drove the creature to appear here and now. I know little of this beast. Should it be so large? It seems like I would have heard of such a thing if it was common."

Walking around the corpse and gore, Fah'lin touches her first two fingers to each side of her head and utters an quick incantation. "Kair jistrah." Her eyes light up with a soft blue light as her spell takes effect.

Kuz is a little disappointed not finding anyone alive,"Kuz sorry, we not fast enough. Nothing live inside..."

Ryestro begins to speed off, above on his broom, as he does the raven appears in front of everyone "Leave the mourning to the villagers—they are safe to do so now—and unless you wish to heighten the number of casualties, we don't have time to investigate this creature. The questions we seek won't be revealed by it's corpse."

"Unless there is a source of magic power within the beast. It might have swallowed an amulet granting a growth spell. Or some traces of transmutation magic that might lead to more knowledge of our enemies. It should just take a few moments to confirm." She retorts without looking back.

A little bit of time spent studying an animal that doesn't belong and brought here not on its own accord is valuable information that can be used to garner insight on who or what we are facing, this should not be dismissed so fool heartedly.
Anwin takes a couple of notes regarding the injury on its head, then she quickly jumps onto her broom and leaves the area but not before one last retort

Tinwë smirks to herself at Ryestro's comments. Sure, now he wants to move quickly rather than gather information. I wonder if he even cares about the lives we are supposed to be protecting... The thought lingers oddly in her mind as suspicions and doubts spread their vile wings, but she shoves them away. There is too much to consider at the moment, what with the dead beast and its mysterious wound.

She looks around at the others and decides to trust the conclusions they reach about the creature. Animals, though charming, had never been her forte.

Glancing up at Ryestro's dark form as the masked man flies off, Tinwë clicks her heels together and follows.

Returning from her search for the creature's exit point from underground, Rolana communicates the location of the hole to those party members who remain (although some seem to have started flying away already in advance of sharing the results of investigations and regrouping with a revised plan).

Wrinkling her nose at the profound stench of the opened carcass, she notes Fah'lin's spellcasting and asks her, What's wrong, Fah'lin? You look as though something unexpected has occurred.

"There is something here, in the creature, that is somehow canceling my magic. It's not just a blank area, using magic to hide...but an active force that is ending the spell when my power touches it. They've embedded it in the creature." she points at the scar. "Someone please open that spot."

"But carefully! And with a mundane tool please. We can't know what might happen if an enchanted blade made contact with...well...whatever is in there." She adds quickly to avoid any catastrophe.

Drawing her mundane dagger, Rolana crouches beside the head of the bulette and carefully makes an incision where Fah'lin has indicated.

Fah'lin leans in to inspect the crystal, attempting to cast detect magic and examine it. If the spell ceases to function again she will adjust her tactic and examine Rolana while she holds the crystal to see if holding it is enough to be affected by it.

Whatever this is, I'm guessing it's what they are using to block all the magic in Southwatch.

Anwin swerves closer to the raven rude.... Rude?? Excuse me.... I'm rude...... Hmph!! Let me tell you about rude.....offensively impolite or ill-mannered, and that is exactly what you are. Hmph
