OOC:
Sorry for the delay. Friday kicked my butt. I hope you don't mind some of the liberties I took with writing out your starter. If there are details you want to be changed, let me know please. As always, this is your character's story that I'm helping to tell.
It had been a long journey across the Great Sea, even with the Goblin-powered zeppelins at the Horde's disposal. Ortaq, the self-exiled orc, passed by a group of what he knew to be adventurers when disembarking. As he entered the supernaturally dark forest of Tirisfal Glades, the mixed group left on the zeppelin. It was an odd sight to see a troll, orc, tauren, a couple of undead men, and an elf travel together, but such were the ways of the world now after the last war that brought them all together.
Ortaq's travels took him south to a part of the seemingly neverending forest that was far less populated - just the way he wanted it. There, he made a life for himself. His quiet, mundane life was changed when he discovered a strange book hidden under . It seemed to be left by an orc and it sat there for some years by the looks of it. He knew of the demons and how their dark magics had changed his people, but his curiosity got the best of him. He delved into the book, learning more than he ever thought possible. He practiced simple spells for a time, working up to a ritual that enticed him. When the time came that he decided to perform the rite, his seclusion was no more thanks to the presence of an undead man - different than what he had seen before. The two stared in silence at each other for a time.
OOC:
Ok now both of you please introduce yourselves as what you look like and what you're doing. RP for a bit for now.

I had been a humble hunter before the plague took me. As a member of the scourge, I swept across my home of Lordaeron. That is until the Lich King’s control waned. The banshee queen took many of us home. I wasn’t of much use to her army so I merely left. I went back to the only place that I understood. The woods.
I did my best to keep the worgans and ogre from defiling the pristine natural beauty of my forests.
OOC:
i think my character is a bit off and does t see any dofference from the forests as they were and the plagued lands they have become. They are still natural and beautiful to him. I was a human of average height. Although not much of my humanity remains after fighting for the last sever years.
The noise of a ritual and the glows and lights catch my attention. I come close and merely watch out of curiousity. Is this a threat to my forest?

OOC:
Excellent. Titus is undead, so what has that done to his body? Anything to tell him away from others?
Apr 14, 2018 8:08 pm
OOC:
good question, he sees himself as a champion of the forest, and wants to protect it without being intrusive. So he wears furs and leathers from undead beasts. And he fashioned a mask from the skull and antlers from a dead deer.

With annoyance I look at the intruder to my ritual. Concentration is key to this as it is still new and I am inexperienced. With my concentration broken I forget the incantation and decide to stop to interrogate this undead thing.
"Who are you? Why do you bother me?"
Apr 16, 2018 3:10 pm
I cock my head to the side as if pondering the question.

"I’m Titus. I live here. What are you doing?"
Apr 16, 2018 3:44 pm
"Minding my own business. Which is what you should do.
I'm busy, go away."
Apr 16, 2018 3:48 pm
I cock my head in the other direction. "Whatever you’re doing, it doesn’t look like it’s working."
I turn around and walk 5 feet away as if that’s the same as going away and begin to build a fire.
Apr 16, 2018 6:10 pm
"It would of worked if you weren't bothering me."
Seeing that this undead was not actually leaving, I decide to talk to him. It has been a long time since I've spoken to someone that didn't immediately look at me with distaste.

"Why are you out here in the middle of nowhere?"
Apr 16, 2018 6:17 pm
I take a long look at him to gauge if he’s actually interested. I answer anyway,
"This is my home. I was born about 10 miles that way"
Apr 18, 2018 8:44 pm
I consider the undead man for a moment. His disinterest seems feigned, like he is trying to provoke me but I've been manipulated too many times in this life and I won't take the bate.

Instead I decide to find out more about him. A solitary undead way out here is strange and I am curious.

"Do you serve the Undead queen? Most of your kind do. Those that don't are usually mindless, but you don't seem too crazy."
Apr 18, 2018 10:55 pm
"Sylvanas is my lady. And I will keep her enemies out of my forest, but I am on my own."

I continue to build the fire. I don’t need the warmth but it’s familiar from when I was alive so I keep on with the habit.

"What brings an orc to the middle of the woods."
Apr 19, 2018 2:13 am
"I'm seeking purpose. There are so many of my people that have gone on to follow those who only meant to control them. I was tired of being used."

I sit on a large stone nearby and pull out some dried meat. I continue to watch the undead man build a fire for a purpose I cannot figure out.
Apr 19, 2018 1:55 pm
As you two converse in the hills, a dark lake to the east with a curious island, Titus hears a something that breaks through the other sounds of the forest.
Apr 19, 2018 2:16 pm
I stop short with what I was going to say next. I look in the direction that the noise comes from.
OOC:
Is it a familiar noise? Was the noise clear and loud or just minor noise that seems out of place?
Apr 20, 2018 12:15 am
OOC:
It's difficult to say exactly. You barely sensed it. Something about it dances at the periphery of your mind like something is off nearby.
Apr 20, 2018 12:31 am
"...odd." Without another word I drop what I’m doing, grab my pack and head in the direction that I sensed the sound.
Apr 20, 2018 6:12 pm
I think to myself, "what a strange undead. Something must be wrong with him."
I turn from the hunter and begin clearing my ritual circle and collecting my components.
Apr 21, 2018 12:56 am
Titus moves beyond several trees, out of sight from Ortaq. Right as he passes a particularly large tree, a crude stone axe swung down, glancing off the undead hunter's shoulder - dealing no real damage. A gnoll stands beside the tree, readying for another strike.
Apr 21, 2018 9:42 am
I call out, "Orc! Gnolls!"

I draw my handaxe from where I stuck it into my belt and swing it at the gnoll.
OOC:
do I see any other gnolls? Or is this the only one?
Apr 21, 2018 11:41 am
OOC:
Go ahead and roll. Sorry, I should have told you. My rule of thumb is: if in doubt, roll just in case.
Upon further inspection, you see that its withered skin stretches tightly over prominent bones, rotted flesh shows beneath its patchy fur, and its eyes glow dark yellow, and are rheumy and sick-looking. Now the surprise is over, you notice another gnoll appearing from behind another nearby tree.
Apr 21, 2018 12:49 pm
OOC:
ok. Here’s my roll

Rolls

Attack Roll - (1d20+1)

(6) + 1 = 7

Dmg - (1d6+1)

(2) + 1 = 3

Apr 21, 2018 4:56 pm
The undead hunter swung wide, caught off guard by the sudden attack. As the new gnoll to enter the scene approaches, the first one tries to hit Titus again.
[Roll]
As Titus turns his head to note the newcomer gnoll, he's struck square in the chest, cutting through his rotting flesh. [Take 2 damage]

Rolls

Gnoll 1 attack

Gnoll 1 damage

Apr 23, 2018 9:22 pm
After hearing the urgent shouts I abandon the ritual circle and pick up my pack and weapon. I run toward the call of the undead.
I take a quick assessment of the situation and fire my pre-loaded light crossbow at the unengaged gnoll.

Rolls

Attack Roll - (1d20+4)

(15) + 4 = 19

Damage - (1d8+1)

(4) + 1 = 5

Apr 24, 2018 12:50 am
Ortaq's crossbow bolt hits the gnoll square in the chest, thick yellow-green ichor slowly seeps from the wound as the gnoll yelps much like a dog in pain.
OOC:
Titus, your turn and then the gnolls.
Apr 24, 2018 1:06 am
I draw my dagger with my left hand.
I swing my handaxe aiming for the neck and thrust my dagger, aiming for under the arm.
OOC:
I'm using my bonus action for the offhand attack

Rolls

Main attack - (1d20+1)

(15) + 1 = 16

Main Dmg - (1d6+1)

(6) + 1 = 7

Bonus dmg - (1d4)

(3) = 3

Bonus action - (1d20+1)

(20) + 1 = 21

Apr 24, 2018 11:11 am
Titus hits his mark. Twice. The gnoll gurgles out a pained yelp as it takes its right hand to grasp at its neck - dropping its crude handaxe and backing away as thick yellow-green fluid seeps from both its wounds.
The gnoll Ortaq shot begins to advance on Titus, weapon raised for when it comes into range.
OOC:
on play-by-post games, I don't worry about a specific initiative. I split it up between players going and then npcs, so no need to wait much.
Apr 24, 2018 11:15 am
OOC:
What’s your rule on crit hits and crit fails?
Apr 24, 2018 4:49 pm
OOC:
Nothing unusual. Auto hit/miss. Sorry, didn't see that you crit-hit. Here's your extra damage.
OOC:
Screw it. Roll your own. lol dice gods hate me.

Rolls

critical hit damage - (1d4)

(1) = 1

Apr 24, 2018 6:48 pm
OOC:
hahaha. Awesome. Yeah, I was just curious.
OOC:
haha. I’m not much better.
Last edited April 24, 2018 6:49 pm

Rolls

Crit hit - (1d4)

(2) = 2

Apr 25, 2018 12:54 am
Registering how much damage the undead hunter had done to him, the gnoll stumbles into a full retreat in his weakened state.
Apr 25, 2018 1:22 am
OOC:
so, there’s still the one gnoll?
Apr 25, 2018 9:37 am
OOC:
Right. One hasn't quite reached you.
Apr 25, 2018 11:07 am
Seeing that the forsaken is handling himself well I decide to focus more on the gnoll that is still closing. I reload my crossbow and fire at it again.

Rolls

Attack roll - (1d20+4)

(16) + 4 = 20

Damage - (1d8+1)

(8) + 1 = 9

Apr 26, 2018 12:47 am
Now with a second crossbow bolt in its body, this time in the neck, the gnoll turns to join its companion on the run.
Apr 26, 2018 1:08 am
"Nice work, Orc."
OOC:
is this around where I head the noise? Or was it further away?
Apr 26, 2018 10:55 pm
"My name is Ortaq. You did alright yourself. What can I call you?"
Apr 26, 2018 11:06 pm
I look at him. "Titus." I look in the direction that the gnolls ran, tying to decided if they’re worth following and investigating.
OOC:
What do I hear? Do I see anything?

Rolls

Perception - (1d20+4)

(19) + 4 = 23

Apr 27, 2018 12:56 pm
OOC:
Yes, your senses were picking up on the gnolls trying to ambush you and the orc.
You see they ran off towards Lordamere Lake. You know that in the lake is Fenris Isle, and like most of Lordaeron has an abandoned human building. A fort the Rothide gnolls now use as their own. Those two you fought were most definitely Rothide gnolls.
Apr 27, 2018 1:05 pm
"Orc, those creatures foul my forests. I could use your help clearing them."

I head back to the area where I was building the fire and gather up any equipment that I left behind.
May 16, 2018 3:02 am
"I suppose I can lend some assistance. Perhaps they have some regents I can make use of."
May 16, 2018 9:58 am
You both return to where Titus had began a campfire and Ortaq was about to start a ritual. The current goal seems to be focused on the tribe of Rothide Gnolls competing against the Forsaken in Silverpine Forest. You pack up and move out - towards the lake assumedly.
OOC:
You get to the shore. How do you get across? Feel free to add in reasonable details. For example, if you want to use a boat, tell me where you find it.
Jul 8, 2018 11:03 pm
"it seems we must cross this water to gather any more details on the gnolls. Time for a swim"
I begin to wade into the water until its at my waist. I then submerge my body and begin swimming.

Ortaq swims through the murky water toward Fenris Isle. Titus is (presumably) following. The two seem to be about halfway across when they feel fish swimming around them - and then the fish begin to bite at you!

Titus, the school of fish don't take hold of you, but Ortaq feels a stab of pain from their bite. Take 1 damage.

Rolls

Bite Titus - (1d20)

(7) = 7

Bite Ortaq - (1d20)

(18) = 18

fish bite - (1d4)

(1) = 1
