OOC:
Go ahead and roll. Sorry, I should have told you. My rule of thumb is: if in doubt, roll just in case.
Upon further inspection, you see that its withered skin stretches tightly over prominent bones, rotted flesh shows beneath its patchy fur, and its eyes glow dark yellow, and are rheumy and sick-looking. Now the surprise is over, you notice another gnoll appearing from behind another nearby tree.

The undead hunter swung wide, caught off guard by the sudden attack. As the new gnoll to enter the scene approaches, the first one tries to hit Titus again.
[Roll]
As Titus turns his head to note the newcomer gnoll, he's struck square in the chest, cutting through his rotting flesh. [Take 2 damage]

Rolls

Gnoll 1 attack

Gnoll 1 damage

After hearing the urgent shouts I abandon the ritual circle and pick up my pack and weapon. I run toward the call of the undead.
I take a quick assessment of the situation and fire my pre-loaded light crossbow at the unengaged gnoll.

Rolls

Attack Roll - (1d20+4)

(15) + 4 = 19

Damage - (1d8+1)

(4) + 1 = 5

Ortaq's crossbow bolt hits the gnoll square in the chest, thick yellow-green ichor slowly seeps from the wound as the gnoll yelps much like a dog in pain.
OOC:
Titus, your turn and then the gnolls.

I draw my dagger with my left hand.
I swing my handaxe aiming for the neck and thrust my dagger, aiming for under the arm.
OOC:
I'm using my bonus action for the offhand attack

Rolls

Main attack - (1d20+1)

(15) + 1 = 16

Main Dmg - (1d6+1)

(6) + 1 = 7

Bonus dmg - (1d4)

(3) = 3

Bonus action - (1d20+1)

(20) + 1 = 21

Titus hits his mark. Twice. The gnoll gurgles out a pained yelp as it takes its right hand to grasp at its neck - dropping its crude handaxe and backing away as thick yellow-green fluid seeps from both its wounds.
The gnoll Ortaq shot begins to advance on Titus, weapon raised for when it comes into range.
OOC:
on play-by-post games, I don't worry about a specific initiative. I split it up between players going and then npcs, so no need to wait much.

OOC:
What’s your rule on crit hits and crit fails?
Apr 24, 2018 4:49 pm
OOC:
Nothing unusual. Auto hit/miss. Sorry, didn't see that you crit-hit. Here's your extra damage.
OOC:
Screw it. Roll your own. lol dice gods hate me.

Rolls

critical hit damage - (1d4)

(1) = 1

Apr 24, 2018 6:48 pm
OOC:

Registering how much damage the undead hunter had done to him, the gnoll stumbles into a full retreat in his weakened state.
Apr 25, 2018 1:22 am
OOC:
so, there’s still the one gnoll?
Apr 25, 2018 9:37 am
OOC:
Right. One hasn't quite reached you.
Apr 25, 2018 11:07 am
Seeing that the forsaken is handling himself well I decide to focus more on the gnoll that is still closing. I reload my crossbow and fire at it again.

Rolls

Attack roll - (1d20+4)

(16) + 4 = 20

Damage - (1d8+1)

(8) + 1 = 9

Now with a second crossbow bolt in its body, this time in the neck, the gnoll turns to join its companion on the run.
Apr 26, 2018 1:08 am
"Nice work, Orc."
OOC:
is this around where I head the noise? Or was it further away?
Apr 26, 2018 10:55 pm
"My name is Ortaq. You did alright yourself. What can I call you?"
Apr 26, 2018 11:06 pm
I look at him. "Titus." I look in the direction that the gnolls ran, tying to decided if they’re worth following and investigating.
OOC:
What do I hear? Do I see anything?

Rolls

Perception - (1d20+4)

(19) + 4 = 23

Apr 27, 2018 12:56 pm
OOC:
Yes, your senses were picking up on the gnolls trying to ambush you and the orc.
You see they ran off towards Lordamere Lake. You know that in the lake is Fenris Isle, and like most of Lordaeron has an abandoned human building. A fort the Rothide gnolls now use as their own. Those two you fought were most definitely Rothide gnolls.
