Chapter 2: My Brother's Keeper

"Place is way too clean to be as abandoned as it looks..." Nyx says in a low tone, constantly scanning the corridors for movement. "Where to first? This is your op. I'm thinking either the office, or whatever is behind those doors there."

Des comes in the rear. He carries his large pistol. "I decided to join you all. Sitting in the van sucks." He looks at the doctor's office and opens the door. "I'm looking for pay data!"

Meanwhile Wyvern messages back to the team. "Let's keep it moving my baby monitor is clicking down...." Then you hear a buzzer sound as the large doors in front of you open. Wyvern messages"You are welcome"

The doors open to a short hallway. On the right are multiple hazmat suits. At the end of the short hallway is a large elevator. To the left are large doors that lead to the loading bay/garage.

Peaches, carrying a small drone and her gun, follows them inside. She also tries to keep half an eye on the feed from the drone above watching for Party Crashers. Her split concentration leaves her uncharacteristically quiet.

"Doors it is..." Nyx mutters to no one in particular, carefully advancing and cringing a little at the level of noise Des makes announcing his entry, but doing her best to ignore him. She notes the hazmat suits, but proceeds on to check that the elevator is clear.

Unsure of what dangers awaits, Lu cast combat sense on himself

Des starts rifling through the office. He seems to not care how loud he is just that he goes fast.Nyx leads the group into the elevator. There is only one place to do: down. She presses the button. The large elevator fits all of you easily. The elevator lurches and begins to descend. But something is strange. The elevator seems to go down for a long time. Too long. It starts to feel claustrophobic in the elevator. What was once a large elevator now seems like a tiny space. A minute goes by. The elevator seems to move slowly but not that slowly. How deep are you?

As you ask yourself this question the elevator finally comes to a halt. The doors open. Slowly.

A wave of pain and intense hunger washes over Lu as the elevator door opens. A rough earthy smelling room with dirt walls opens before you. It is lit by dim LEDs and light from a glass door on the right. The glass door reveals a room with what look like small bonzai trees suspended from the ceiling. The tree's roots are wrapped around what looks like some sort of glowing rock.

To the left is a small work station. A wall of six screens is behind the work station. Each screen shows what looks like prison cells. Three of the rooms look occupied.

A plasteel door with a small window is in the front of this room. It reveals a hallway with six rooms.

"Aw hell, he's going to trip an alarm or something," Checkmate says and goes after Des, trying to persuade him to come back and stick with the team.

"Wait, give me a few seconds before we go further..."Lu opens himself to the astral to see if there is something else the team can't see before getting out of the elevator.

Lu opens his third eye like the god Erlang Shen, the spirit world flooding into his consciousness. The room before him shows residual feelings of pain and hunger. The strongest emotions come from the double door area in front of him. He looks right and sees an oddly calm room to the right. The bonsai trees and the glowing stones emanate an astral signature as if they were awakened.

"I see no immediate danger, but be wary of what we find past those double door..."

Peaches follows along, her weapon drawn but held low. Mostly, she tries to keep out of the way, for now.

Sword drawn, Lu steps into the room. Pointing the double doors to Nix, "I feel pain and hunger through those doors, wait for me before going in. I'll check this desk to see if we can find anything about whats on the other side..."

Lu starts accessing the workstation. As he does so he gets a better look at the video screens. He can see three occupants in three rooms. He blinks his eyes and realizes that one of the rooms has Gerald in it. Gerald is lying on a small cot. Another room has what looks like a woman, it looks like she is in late stage ghoul. The third room has a massive Troll.

The workstation directory has a few interesting looking folders.
-Dr. Cooper's Vlog
-Wertamiline Bed
-Patient List

Wyvern's baby monitor clicks down. It has changed the audio alarm from a click to a small wa wa sound. Almost as if a baby is about to cry.

Des steps over to the door of the bonzai room. "Holy drek! Forget the suckers in the rooms. This is where the payday is!" He then opens the door and runs into the room.

Peaches sees the racers on the monitor and goes to stand by the hallway to the cells. Gun ready, she says,
"Go, keep an eye on Des and what's got him as hot as Georgia asphalt. I'll watch this door."
