Chapter 2: My Brother's Keeper

Claws and Katana flash back and forth. Finally Peaches gets her opening. She unloads lead full into the chest of the ghoul woman. She slumps to the ground. The elevator door opens

"C'mon, let's move!" Checkmate says, getting into the elevator. "Those two weren't friends of yours, I hope," he says to Des.

Des seems indifferent to the killing of the ghouls. He steps into the elevator and pushes the button up. Gerald, however, starts to shake uncontrollably. "Please don't kill me!"

Peaches checks her ammo, and reloads the weapon. "Let's get clear, sugah. Time to be getting scarce." She heads for the elevator with the others.

The exit is simple enough. You all played the professional and were in and out. However, you can hear the sounds of sirens already. And they seem pretty close!

Wyvern helps the others load their guest into the car while she apologizes, "Sorry, I held out as long as I could. Is this who I think it is?"

Yeah, thats Gerald. Now we have to move !

Gerald looks at Wyvern with a confused look on his face. "Do... do I know you?" Des looks at Gerald with contempt. "Why we need to save this little pup anyway? Look at him, he ain't gonna last a day on the streets!"

Peaches rushes ahead, unlocks the Rover Model 2072, slides in and jacks. Checking the feed from the overhead drone for the 5-0 location, she plots a quick escape route. Back alleys, parking garages, one-ways, and other in-n-outs she can break line of sight with. "No time to buckle, best hold each otha," she warns.

The vehicle heads out with a squeal of tires. Smoke choking the road. Peaches gets you about 6 blocks away from the medical facility when the flashing lights of a Knight Errant vehicle flash behind you. Two surveillance drones can be seen trailing you all from high above.

An open channel broadcast is being sent. The message is both AR text and audio. "Pull over or deadly force will be authorized!"

"What's the play fellas?"

"I'll try something, be ready to go when I tell you...." Lu mumbles and does some strange hand signs before the entire cars becomes invisibles..."Go, now !!!"

Peaches, jacked into the vehicle, takes a hard but quiet turn then belts away at full speed, eyes peeled for pedestrian shaped obstacles and the like.

Peaches makes her turn. The Knight Errant vehicle also makes the turn. Frag! But then KE makes another turn one block later. The siren begins to fade away. Another KE car speeds by opposite you but seems not to notice you. Eventually you make it out of Tacoma. It is 4 in the morning.Des, the adrenaline finally run down, asks Peaches. "So where we going after this? I know a safe house in the barrens if you need it."

Lu, wiping a nosebleed, looks on the verge of loosing consciousness, "Yeah, I'll take your offer....I think I need to sleep..."

"Point the way, sugah, we could all use a breather."

Unless the others object, Peaches retrieves her flying drone (after ensuring the popodrones aren't following it), then continues to put distance between the op and them, eventually heading for The Barrens.

Des smiles. As he does it pushes some of the puss from his eye dripping it on the floor. He points the way to the barrens.

An hour later he points out an apartment complex. Six youths with mohawks and leather jackets sit on a car with no tires. A fire burns low in front of them.

They look at you and make gang signs.

"Here it is. This place belongs to the Dead Corpses. A stupid name but it gets the message across. Let me negotiate." He then jumps out of the vehicle and runs over to the youth.

Des begins to gesticulate wildly at a youth with a rainbow mohawk. In AR 2 flying unicorns circle his head breathing rainbow flames at each other. Pretty nice entoptics for a sleezebag ganger.

Rainbow pulls out an SMG and points it at your vehicle. He then laughs loudly. His fellow gangers also laugh.

Des comes back to your vehicle. "Ok. Let's get inside. Follow Grub there." He points to a young girl with a shaved head. Electrotattoos dancing on her scalp. She waits for you to exit the car.
