If it's ok with the GM, I'll "cash in" one of my contacts here...
"I know somebody working at Azbo that sometimes provides me with some dangerous merchandise, maybe she has access to what you would need. Do you want me to call him ?"

Yeah sounds good to me. Great write up!

"Please do," Checkmate says, calming down. "If those precautions are going to take some time, we should check out some other leads in the meantime. Best to make sure we're on the right track before we get tangled up with that scene."

OOC:
Next week I'll try to get this moving forward at a bit faster pace. If possible choose a direction to move in before Monday.

Wyvern looks relieved as she says, "I totally agree. What about this Iris chick? Connected in two ways: girlfriend of the missing dude and also into goth."
May 19, 2018 12:57 pm
While we continue talking, Wang Lu sends a message to his contact, Mei-Ling Zhou. "Need to speak, call back when you can. Lu."
OOC:
Don't know what I should roll for my contact...
Edit: will spend an edge for a second chance

A matrix search for Iris takes some digging because Iris goes by the handle Fang_grrl on he social media. Fang-grrl is an active member of a goth community called "The Seattle Sanguines" that meet up in a pixel space hangout of the same name.

Meanwhile in meatspace Lu gets a call from Mei-Ling. "What up Lu? Long time no see."
May 21, 2018 1:02 am
Lu answers as soon as he sees its Mei-Ling. "Mei, it's good to hear your voice again. This call is for business, but let me take you out after this job if you want... To be strait with you I'll probably be facing ghouls, lots of them, in the next hours or days. Do you have anything that could be useful to remove or reduce any risk of infections ? Oh, and maybe something that can easily dispose of them ?"

"Drek Lu, you skip the foreplay and jump right in don't you! Ya got to warm things up before you jump into ghouls and drek." Mei says teasingly. "But seriously, you ain't joking. I know. If you need it fast then it will be expensive. I need to pay the dock loaders here to accidentally lose a package... or three. Then I need to pay off the guy in control of asset management." She then pauses a bit. Sends a link:

O-cells, or Omega cells, function as enhanced lymphocytes (white blood cells) integrated into the body’s auto-immune system. O-cells are gene-modified and augmented from T- and B-cells, which are part of the body’s adaptive immune system. These natural cell types retain a record of previous infections so that they can mount a quicker and stronger response to the culprit antigen(s) or pathogen in cases of re-infection. Unlike natural lymphocytes, which only store memories of previous infections (or inoculations) O-cell soft nanites come equipped with broad-spectrum pharmacological microdoses and an inbuilt library of responses to a wide array of common pathogens.

"These are probably what you are looking for. We have them in 3 ratings: 1, 2 and 3. They cost 5,000, 10,000 and 15,000 nu-big-ones respectfully."

She gets quiet for a moment. "Ghouls are a nasty business. Nothing is foolproof. You sure you know what your are getting into?"
OOC:
You get the rating in extra dice to resist pathogens. Also if I call for an edge check for catching a disease I will let you use the rating to help out. They will stay in your system a number of weeks x rating.

OOC:
Lu probably knows it since he is used to deal with Mei-Ling, but is the price for the team or per dosage ?
Transferring the link and the cost to the team, "Don't worry Mei, I'll make sure to come back in one piece. Wouldn't want to make you wait too long again before our night out. I'll call you back tonight."

Per person. This is hi tech stuff

Greer frowns as Lu lists off the price of the medicine.

"Experimental drugs aren't cheap. Ideally, we would all have our individual dose, but that's way too expensive. If we think about these drugs as a contingency plan, we probably only need one or two doses. Think you can convince your friend to 'misplace' a dose or two? We probably want Rating 2, unless anybody wants a stronger or weaker dose?"
May 22, 2018 3:58 pm
"Personally, I can only afford a rating 1 dose and I'll have to empty all my credstick for that, but if any of you want some, just tell me what rating you need and transfer the nuyens on this stick." Lu drop a credstick on the table, "Don't worry for Mei, she won't have any problem delivering on the goods on time. That's why I often deal with her."

"I'm good," Checkmate waves off the offer. "If I don't find some cash for rent, ghoulifying will be the least of my worries."

"There's something about this that bothers me," he continues. "Ray is missing. The Star crew want him found. Okay. Finding people is what they do – why hand it over to us? I could understand if they had tried and failed, but they've hardly tried. If they had, they would have had more to give us.

Instead they hire a bunch of shadowrunners. They put two grand on the table. In our business, two grand does not go very far. It buys simple jobs. And If this job is so simple, why haven't they done it themselves? There must be a reason they want someone else to do legwork which is so obviously up their own alley. And I don't like not knowing what it is."
OOC:
I want to roll some things to try to form an answer to my own questions.

Rolls

Knowledge: Law Enforcement procedures (9) - (9d6)

(342124432) = 25

Area knowledge: Seattle (8) - (8d6)

(31531611) = 21

May 23, 2018 1:14 am
OOC:
It seems Greer wants to wait to buy the doses until he knows he needs them. Does Lu want to buy one?

Those rolls ain't great Robago. The area knowledge is a bit better.
Checkmate thinks and thinks. Then he remembers in Seattle 2072, Knight Errant had only just started transitioning in. There was a loss of confidence in Lone Star as a result of crime from Tempo users. Tempo showed up in 2071.

Tempo is a Bioengineered Awakened Drug (BAD) manufactured from several awakened plants found in the temperate jungles of South America. The drug itself is described as a white powder with a crystalline shimmer. It is commonly applied through adhesive patches, but can also be ingested.

Tempo causes euphoria, an increased sense of empathy, and mild hallucinations. Additionally, many users have claimed that the drug allowed them to perceive astrally, even with no awakened talent.

Tempo is highly addictive, both physically and psychologically. Over time, users will also build up a tolerance to the drug, requiring larger doses with greater frequency to achieve the same "high."

The only other thing that comes to mind is the hyper territoriality of Errant. If Lone Star gets caught sniffing around Errant territory it may get viscous in the courts... and out.

OOC:
Lu will still contact Mei to inform her that they will wait until the last moment possible before buying, but he will take her out for a nice dinner to compensate.

Sounds good dp_qc.

Soooooooo lets keep moving :)

Where you going? If you want to split the part I am fine with that. One group goes for one red herring... I mean story strand and another goes for something else? Or all stick together.
May 25, 2018 9:27 am
Wyvern replies, "The Johnson said that they can't go in that area because it's Errant territory. And Errant isn't going to be quick to help out with a missing Lone Star."

"I think we should start by trying to find this Iris chick. Maybe she knows where her boyfriend went."
May 25, 2018 1:21 pm
Lu seems to be thinking for himself before addressing the group. "I haven't done this in a long time, but if you have a picture of this person, I could try to summon a spirit to help searching for her."
