OOC:
No problem. Once I forgot to subscribe to a thread in my own game! This is a learning experience. That's the whole point.
Sovelin launches arrow after arrow but none of them seem to find their mark. Thomas hacks away with his club and the dire wolf strikes out at Thomas again. It attempts to sink its famgs into his thigh.

The dire wolf tears into Thomas' wooden shield and rips it to pieces. The shield has been destroyed.

Next round fight!

Rolls

Dire Wolf Attack - (1D20+5)

(8) + 5 = 13

Damage (piercing) - (2d6+3)

(24) + 3 = 9

0-25 and your shield breaks. - (1D100)

(8) = 8

May 11, 2018 4:57 pm
Sovelin isn't deterred by his near misses and fires another arrow
Forgive me, I have no weapons besides this bow. I hope it will suffice to fell this beast.
OOC:
while im firing my bow, im using arrows in my quiver right? can I pick them up after the fight and check if they are reusable(im not sure how far my missed arrows actually went so....)

Rolls

Attack Roll - (1d20+4)

(6) + 4 = 10

Longbow Damage - (1d8+2)

(2) + 2 = 4

"Aw, no! Mah shell! Ah'm Na- I mean, ah'm Tomas! Thinks fer yer halp!"

Tomas drops the one plank he's now holding by the rope, grips the quarterstaff with both hands, and strikes down.

"Bad, doggie! BAD!"
OOC:
Shit, I just realized I've been adding the wrong modifiers. I'm so used to melee attacks being +5 at levels 1-3, I forgot that Tomas only has 15 Strength. The wolf has been taking one less point of damage on hits and I think one of the hits might not have actually hit in light of this.

Edit: And... I put in the wrong modifier for this attack, it should actually be 16 to hit. But I think 14 hits anyways.

Rolls

Give The Dog A Stick! (Attack) - (1d20+2)

(12) + 2 = 14

Damage (bludgeoning) - (1d8+2)

(3) + 2 = 5

May 11, 2018 10:43 pm
OOC:
@Thomas: no problem I'll fix the wolves hp.
@Sovelin: How about 1 d10 plus survival mod? You can roll after the battle
May 12, 2018 11:08 am
Sovelin's arrow flies wide but Thomas' staff strikes the wolf and it lets out a yelp. Then it bars its fangs and leaps for Thomas' throat.
OOC:
Jesus this wolf sucks! You've done 16 damage to it so far.
Next round fight!

Rolls

Attack 1 - (1D20+5)

(3) + 5 = 8

Damage (piercing) - (2d6+3)

(31) + 3 = 7

May 12, 2018 1:08 pm
Sovelin continues to shoot arrows

Rolls

Attack Roll - (1d20+4)

(8) + 4 = 12

Longbow Damage - (1d8+2)

(1) + 2 = 3

May 12, 2018 2:03 pm
"Ah'll five give you, men! No wahrries!"

Feeling insecure with his lack of shield, Tomas raises his quarterstaff again but closer to his chest, ready to react.
OOC:
Taking the Dodge action
Edit: Also, will be taking the Dodge action except if the wolf starts going after Sovelin. In which case Tomas will Opportunity Attack and, on his turn, chase the wolf and start hitting it again. Will use Shield if an attack hits and make a Wild Magic chance roll.

The wolf attempts to strike at Thomas. However, he narrowly manages to avoid getting hit.

Next round. Fight!

Rolls

Attack 1 - (1D20+5)

(20) + 5 = 25

Disadvantage - (1D20+5)

(10) + 5 = 15

May 14, 2018 2:47 pm
Tomas falls silent, puckering his lips as he concentrates on drawing the wolf's focus and dodging its snapping jaws.
May 14, 2018 8:06 pm
Sovelin shoots another arrow

Rolls

Attack Roll - (1d20+4)

(10) + 4 = 14

Longbow damage - (1d8+2)

(4) + 2 = 6

May 14, 2018 10:38 pm
Sovelin's arrow strikes true and catches the wolf in it's shoulder. Thomas taunts the wolf while trying to keep his staff between himself and those nasty looking teeth.

Next round fight!

Rolls

Dire Wolf Attack - (1D20+5)

(11) + 5 = 16

Disadvantage - (1D20+5)

(8) + 5 = 13

Sovelin gains confidence from hitting the Wolf and continues to fire arrow after arrow
OOC:
can I roll to hit with advantage since Tomas is distracting the wolf? It’s getting depressing how little I’m able to hit :/

Rolls

Attack Roll - (1d20+4)

(3) + 4 = 7

Longbow Damage - (1d8+2)

(8) + 2 = 10

May 17, 2018 11:26 am
OOC:
Thomas' dodge action is giving the dire wolf disadvantage on its attacks but I'll tell you what, if you move into melee combat and flank it, then I'll give you both advantage on your attacks. It might choose to attack you though.
The carnage of combat makes it difficult for Sovelin to get a clear shot. His arrow flies wide and the wolf tries to pounce on Thomas.

Thomas leaps out of the way and you see an opening.

What do you do?

Rolls

Dire Wolf Attack - (1D20+5)

(6) + 5 = 11

Disadvantage - (1D20+5)

(19) + 5 = 24

May 17, 2018 11:53 am
Tomas continues to dodge unless the scaly man comes forward to attack the wolf's flank. Then he'll resume smacking the wolf so its attention is on the man hurting it in front of it, rather than behind.

If Sovelin comes up, Tomas says, "Owl write, men. We tack it on!"

Rolls

Staff Attack, if Sovelin comes forward to flank - (1d20+4)

(6) + 4 = 10

Advantage - (1d20+4)

(17) + 4 = 21

Friendship Damage (bludgeoning) - (1d8+2)

(7) + 2 = 9

May 17, 2018 4:59 pm
While putting away his longbow and drawing his short swords, Sovelin circles towards the back of the wolf in order to perform a flank attack. Slowly getting closer to the wolf as he circles.
OOC:
if I'm dual-wielding my short swords, can I make 2 attacks or is it just one combined attack? I've never used dual-wielding in any of my previous campaigns.

Rolls

Stealth (if necessary) - (1d20+2)

(13) + 2 = 15

May 18, 2018 6:27 am
OOC:
You don't need stealth. You're good.
To dual wield you get to make one normal attack called your main hand attack and then you can make on extra attack as a bonus action. Roll the second attack like normal but you don't get to add your dex mod to your damage unless you took the two handed fighting style.
May 18, 2018 6:28 am
You can make your attacks now.
May 18, 2018 1:09 pm
OOC:
so to do the second attack I need a bonus action?
Sovelin didn’t take his melee training seriously when he was growing up and now he regrets it.

why didn’t I just pay attention back then, this wouldn’t be so awkward for me now. "Melee sucks, ranged is always better." *mentally shakes head* should’ve taken training more seriously. Let’s hope that I remember my training well enough to fell this beast.
