Missing in Modesto - One Shot story area

The three of you move slowly trying to stay quiet and hidden from those around the fire. You get down to the same level of them thankfully without falling. The smell of food and the burning coals of the fire are wafting at you as you get a ways closer to try and check things out. You hear the sudden sound of music from some kind of stringed instrument.

Denton tries to make out the figures better but to no avail. Listening to the music he's pretty sure it's a Spanish or Italian song, thoughts of the news a while back about Roma people in Italy being more closely monitored and deported out of the country comes to mind from the radio news a few months back.

Denton calls out to get people's attention.

Jackson not liking how this is going sidesteps and stays still behind a tree.

Denton moving through the brush grabs onto a small tree when he finds unstable footing. He hears a creak as he stabilizes himself and lets go to watch the tree crack and pop in agony before falling over from termites it seems from the scattering white antlike insects. Denton closes his eyes for a second as dirt, dust, and dead leaves kick up and the sound of a tree falling in the wood is audible to all.

The music stops. You definitely can get their attention now.

The people look a little cautious at first until they see how Denton is dressed. "Soldato!" someone yells and you quickly feel the neutral caution vibe turn malicious as people scramble grabbing weapons you wouldn't expect from this era to be used. You've seemed to do something to freak out these nine people somehow.
