Missing in Modesto - One Shot story area

Denton looks at the woods making a comment while Jackson figures she's looking at horse 'tracks' by what she finds out on the internet. The group is looking into the outskirts of the wooded forest area early afternoon.

Looks like the group consensus is to follow the trail into the woods and see where it takes you.

Carefully following Calvin’s confident lead, Molly sets off on the trail, turning off Gia’s tablet and setting her own to scan for any signals. If any devices are broadcasting a WiFi or Bluetooth signal in range, she should get a ping. "Could everyone put their phones on airplane mode? I’ll keep an eye out for any signals."

Jack stares at his phone for a few seconds and then slowly starts pressing buttons to get into the phones settings.

Yes, Jack's phone is considerably less than smart and actually has physical buttons.....ah, those were the days! lol

Jackson is the first to notice the drop off of the networks aviable to connect to followed by signal service for her cell. As the group moves on you're surprised your shoes that came with your suit seem quite durable for walking even in the woodlands you're traversing. You all realize the sounds of civilization have stopped some time ago and the sounds of wildlife can be heard around you.

What's the party doing to attempt to pick up on the trail of hooves that went this way?

Jackson gets the idea to make an algorithm that searches for any signal she can piggy back on to connect and look at other devices.

Lets get a hard check (Three Purple) with one die upgraded from purple to red due to the range of signals you're trying to enable the notification for.

It's a known bug - it is definately a Despair but the symbol doesn't show. The dice roller also doesn't factor in the Failure component of the Despair or the Success portion of a Triumph so theres a bit of manual interpretation needed sometimes

Smiling to herself Molly's surprised how quickly she coded what she needed considering the various frequencies and bands she had to interlace and interpreted for a terrestrial signal on the fly granted the others hadn't said anything for a while so she figured they just knew she needed time to think and some quiet unless something was up. The algorithm will ping at intervals and drop a notification so you know to look where a signal originated on a map since you don't even have a roaming signal nothing will overlap or interfere with any findings..

Molly looks up to let the others know the good news that she's figured out something to track the tablet or any cellphones once they get a signal and she notices how quiet it is as she stops walking. She doesn't see anyone around. The forest doesn't seem as well lit now and it's a little chilly out here by yourself. It's pretty quiet out here by yourself you realize. You wonder where everyone else is.

Everyone else that's been marching opt to take a rest to catch your breath and look back and wait for Molly to show up but after five minutes you figure she stopped after a few more minutes you realize you've been separated when you call out for her.

OOC:

So for the interpretation of the roll, Tophu, Molly gets off the coding and you'll find out when you're in range of anything when you're close to it. For the Despair I'll pull in your fear slightly and split the party you all have no idea how long you've walked different pathes but you can't see each other.

*this is the part in the movie where we stop the background music and pan around group split screen with Molly looking around at a different location*

Molly doesn't see any signal on her phone everyone one else has theirs off. The sounds of the forest around her are her only reply. It currently late afternoon.

So now that we split the party what's everyone doing? (Don't worry no Cho cho cho chaa chaa chaa sounds effects yet).

Molly finds her way back to the trail she was on with the others she figures. She looks back wondering if she stepped on something since she occasionally flails at a large bug that tries to bit her.
