Scene 3 - The Ardeyn Run

"Why don't we just dissemble it and use the parts to cobble some cyphers since it's out of juice..."
Mar 5, 2019 7:55 pm
The intern shakes at more requests from the crew, clearly uncertain what to do. In a brilliant flash of the zeitgeist du jour, he slumps his shoulders in resignation and leads the crew into the library.

By library, I mean a file room, with surplus military cabinets. He points out a few, saying, "Don't look in those, that's proprietary weapon designs and contracts," but he clearly doesn't really care. He points to one, battered, bent, rusty, and scratched. "That's the one that Dr. Culkin uses. Anything of interest should be in there."

The files are partially handwritten journals, many with soup stains, and all faintly smell of cigarettes. It will take some time to go through them for any kind of information on the capabilities of various players.

Intellect rolls with an asset for the files, please.

"It not a computer but sifting for Intel is what I do. Let me see those files." She grabs a few journals and begins thumbing through.

"Now we are in business!" Seth says, walking towards the shelves, and the proffered book, shaking out his fingers and cracking his knuckles. "Good old fashioned research!"
OOC:
edit: That's what's up right there.

Micah groans as he sees everyone starting to dig into the files. "This is not how I thought I was going to spend the day." With that, he grabs a handful of documents/journals and flops onto a pile of old boxes and starts to go through them.
OOC:
Lol. That roll is very appropriate for his attitude!

Seth, channeling his inner methhead, swings in tune with Dr. Culkin's mad style, flipping the notebooks open, before finding one that sings the right song.

The Graveyard of the Machine God. A moon sized megarobot more than a 100 miles long of broken machinery and rusting satellites, abandoned, broken, but deep within, an elder intelligence of surpassing technical know how, and madness. Rumours are that it can be reached by gates from Ruk (which you have been to) and Atom Nocturne (which is some kind of superhero paradise).

While Dr. Culkin does not know the exact location of one of these gates from Ruk, he believes that a notable named Irrara-ya in the underground city of Dran knows where one such gate is.

He doesn't seem to know much about Atom Nocturne.

Duke waits for people to find info in books and waits for when they need to hunt down someone living. He checks on 'Bubba' the cypher who's sucked down the energy in the doomsday device to see if it's changed any.
Mar 6, 2019 3:22 pm
"Fascinating!"Seth says, leafing through Dr. Culkin's journals. "It would appear that, in addition to rescuing Dr. Culkin, we must also go back to Ruk to find a gate that leads to the creator of this device. There is a mad megarobot in an incursion called 'The Graveyard of the Machine God' that is reachable only through Ruk and one other incursion that I am not familiar with, once called Atom Nocturne. Is anyone familiar?"
Mar 6, 2019 5:03 pm
Duke thinks about it.

"Cannot say I am, but if we are to go to Ruk, I am. That speed and connection to information was...amazing." She gets lost a bit in memory. "When we leave?" She grabs her rifle like a katana.

Duke knows the following:
[ +- ] What a Recursor Knows About Atom Nocturne
Mar 6, 2019 7:08 pm
Duke sucks his teeth.

"Anyone watch them Japanese Cartoons, Anymay? If Ruk is high tech Atom Nocturne is more mental and super powered everything like in Anymay. People like here though either do or don't use what they can do responsibly... so there's probably a few people with a bounty on their head. Big City times from what I reckon... Like NYC on top of London, on top of Tokyo. Oh and there's a monetized version of super powered Fight Club I think."
Mar 6, 2019 8:31 pm
"Well. That's...huh. Not sure how I feel about that one necessarily. Part of me is fascinated to study a recursion I know next to nothing about, yet another is repulsed by the seeming chaos and disorder." Seth considers or a moment, a look of slight distaste twisting his face, then stands and addresses the group. "well, who is for heading to Ruk to begin with? It would seem that the pathway to Atom Nocturne is as yet unknown on Earth, so we do not have to make that decision right now."
Mar 7, 2019 12:39 am
Micah, who seems to have been waiting for any excuse to put the books down, jumps up, tosses the papers he was pretending to read to the side and bounces on the balls of his feet. "Ruk again? That place was weird. But fun. Kind of like that TV show that Joel Kinnaman was in, ya know?" He smiles and rubs his hands together. "That was such a good performance!"
Mar 8, 2019 8:03 am
"We must head to Ruk first anyway. Or at least that is where I vote we go. The tournaments sound amazing but I think this device is first priority." She holds the rifle with a bit more impatience.
Mar 8, 2019 2:09 pm
"Anyone want to raid the cabinets for Cyphers?"
Mar 8, 2019 2:20 pm
"Seems prudent, and is always fun. Let's make sure we have any other supplies that will translate over."Seth says, standing and leaving the detritus of his research where it is for the time being.
Mar 8, 2019 3:25 pm
OOC:
Let's do it.
Mar 8, 2019 4:36 pm
"So penicillin for Vinny? Rations, rope, and such for the rest of us?"
Mar 9, 2019 3:44 am
Micah nods in agreement with his teammates. "Yeah, I'm good to go. Cyphers sounds good, penicillin for Vinny sounds great, and a quick translation to Ruk sounds exciting!"
