Seeing the others carry on ahead, Gyges feel an odd mixture of relief and fear. Mentally, he goes over his spells to keep himself occupied so that his anxiety doesn't overcome him.
Oct 23, 2018 11:33 pm
Maenor smiles and slips off into the darkness, trying to get close enough to make out what the voices are saying without being seen.

Stealth - (1d20+4)

As Maenor treads quietly across the desert, he nears the hunting blind. He can definitely hear two voices now, and he recognizes them as belonging to the dwarf and half-orc he saw at the campfire. Judging by the sound, they are approaching the blind.

The half-orc grumbles, "We was going to the desert. Why is it cold in the desert?"

"See, tha's why you always keep a spare towel in yer pack," says the dwarf. "Not the small kind, too, but a big one. Prob'ly the most useful thing a merc can have, aside from 'is weapons."

With a small smile at his new companion's clever plan, Maenor calls upon his power and a sultry feminine voice speaks from the darkness, "I can warm you up."
OOC:
Casting Minor Illusion, in the direction away from the blind and the camp, and toward Gyges.
Oct 25, 2018 4:42 pm
The conversation and progress of the dwarf and half-orc stop. There is a pause.

"Okay, that's just wrong," says the dwarf. "Dammit, Bellas, I know we been on the road for over a month. I don't care what you and Silvaril do in that blind, but c'mon! Be a professional!"

The half-orc grunts, conversation returning between the two of them, "Didn't we just see Silvaril walking back?"

"Yeah. Bellas prob'ly had to stay to clean up. Bah, now I can't sit in there; who knows what's on the inside?"

"Use your towel."

"Hey, now you're learning."

The footsteps can be heard now, coming closer.
Oct 28, 2018 1:24 pm
OOC:
Will they pass by close enough to see me? If not, will sit tight and let them discover the empty blind.

If so, then will fade back quietly.

Rolls

stealth if needed - (1d20+4)

(14) + 4 = 18

Oct 29, 2018 4:43 pm
Maenor's position opposite the duo's approach leads him to believe he will not be spotted.

The footsteps stop. "Ya finished yet, fey-boy?" says the dwarf.
Nov 4, 2018 5:22 am
OOC:
What do the stealthy Pale scouts do? It seems as though the approaching dwarf and half-orc are waiting.
Nov 4, 2018 9:29 pm
After having screwed up twice in a situation that requires silence and precision, Reizei obeys orders and remains where he is...silent...and awaits Maenor's first move.
Nov 5, 2018 12:51 am
After they are safely past his spot, Maenor casts again, this time the space between the blind and Reizei seems to be the source of the call, "One of you, come see what I found."
Nov 5, 2018 2:38 am
OOC:
Make a Deception check.
Nov 5, 2018 10:18 am
OOC:
Not my forte, to be sure.

Rolls

Deception - (1d20+1)

(8) + 1 = 9

Nov 6, 2018 4:52 pm
OOC:
Insight's not this dwarf's forte, either.
There is a long pause. Finally, the dwarf says, "Head to yer post. I'll see what's up."

In a louder voice, he says, "All right, elf, whatcha got?" The sound of boots tromp beyond the blind, heading towards Reizei.
Nov 6, 2018 9:43 pm
Reizei, catching on to Maenor's plan, readies himself. Backing quietly into a deeper shadow, he prepares his flail. This has to be taken care of quickly...preferably in one swing....

Rolls

Attack (if needed) - (1d20+6)

(3) + 6 = 9

Damage (if needed) - (1d8+4)

(7) + 4 = 11

Nov 6, 2018 11:05 pm
OOC:
You count as hidden, so roll your attack with advantage.
Nov 7, 2018 12:40 am
OOC:
Thank goodness for that. The dice are trying to get us killed, I think.
Nov 7, 2018 1:17 am
OOC:
This guy and his rolls...

Rolls

Attack (advantage) - (1d20+6)

(18) + 6 = 24

Nov 7, 2018 5:39 am
The flail swings out from the darkness and catches the dwarf in the face. The mercenary reels, still barely alive, but stunned and reeling from the surprise attack.
OOC:
Gyges can act if he chooses.
Nov 8, 2018 3:12 am
OOC:
Sure, I guess the best option then is magic missile.
Gyges quiety focuses and let's loose a blast of kinetic energy at the target his companions are currently engaged with.
OOC:
Do you want me to roll damage for each one, or one roll per cast?

Rolls

Magic Missile - (1d4+1)

(4) + 1 = 5

Nov 8, 2018 6:19 am
OOC:
Rules as written, you roll once. Me, I don't care and allow the player to choose. What I won't do is let you roll once, then decide. So you either roll for each missile on the same line, or just once.

I assume in this case you've chosen to roll once for all missiles.
The magical darts strike the dwarf in sequence, driving him into the ground where he lies still.

From the hunting blind, the half-orc asks, "What was that?"
