Any particular gods a cleric should choose from in your world?
Jul 16, 2018 11:23 pm
oh i might break the height scheme, unless i gots a good short race with baller cha.
Jul 16, 2018 11:40 pm
I've left it slightly vague with a leaning towards Roman gods. I suppose those will work, but if there's not one that fits your character concept, let me know and I'll brain one up.
Jul 16, 2018 11:42 pm
yup, sorry guys imma have to break the height rule and go half elf as best option to not die so fast :)

Mercury, it is! (As an aside, I grabbed my TSR Dieties & Demigods book for AD&D (1980), looked up the Greek Pantheon, found Hermes, and then googled which Roman good best matched.)

@CaveJohnson could you link me to the cook subclass? I'd like to look it over myself. If somehow, you don't end up with proficiency in your cooking utensils, I'd say that it's fair to say that the subclass itself should let you trade out a musical instrument for them.
Jul 16, 2018 11:56 pm
oh no there is no cook subclass, its just going to be what i'm doing 89% of the time 10% playing music and 1% fighting/running :)
ill be a bard of the collage of whispers, i wanna say thats out of XGTE also but i'm not 100% on that yet

Half-elf bard (whispers) cook extraordinaire!

I will say this, Filthy_Casual, that if you're feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of character options, you can always restrict your players from certain choices. This is especially true if you don't own the material or cannot access the content. Don't feel like you are required to accept anything and everything from players, even if they're using stuff that's officially published.

that is a good point CancerMan! Personally i advocate for physically having the book, but i've come across a wonderful website 5etools.com that has almost everything published and some UA things. If you want to take a gander at that have at it, its pretty overwhelming in its self

side note: Guild artisan has the tool prof. i was looking for so no custom thing today :)

I'm of the mind that anything officially published should be okay, as long as it fits into the game world well. It's not really an issue once I've read it; I've got a pretty good memory for that stuff. That being said, there is a certain build I'll always veto involving a lot of dice throwing to avoid everything.
I have pdf's of most of the core books, and use those almost exclusively just because they're portable, but I also own physical copies as well. I'd feel bad otherwise. I'll be on the lookout for Lost Notes now, next time I get a chance to shop for it.

Jul 17, 2018 2:12 am
Qralloq says:
So we have Marithyme potentially playing a gnome wizard, CancerMan playing a goblin barbarian, CaveJohnson a bard cook...

I think I'll go with a Halfling Cleric, keep the party short, heh.
Here's my earlier summary.

ok i think im ready :)
Jul 17, 2018 3:38 am
I submitted my half-pint cleric of Mercury (Trickery), although I still need to choose spells. I'll probably just take Cure Wounds and Healing Word.
Jul 17, 2018 4:19 am
@Qralloq Looks good to me, though we're starting at level 3. Mostly because level 1 characters are stale, at 3 everyone gets their subclass, and level 3 characters are harder to accidentally kill. I hope.

Bonus! I'll update it.

Is a protector Aasimar warlock (raven queen) fine DM?
Jul 17, 2018 1:27 pm
Raven queen is UA, idk if thats allowed
Jul 17, 2018 5:53 pm
I'll have to say no to UA stuff, unfortunately. Sorry, I'm just not comfotable running that stuff yet...
