You know, I suddenly wonder if Xanathar's Lost Notes is official. I think I might have been fooled by the copyright info that I initially glossed over, but on careful inspection it seems like it's more of a homebrew collection.

In the interest of keeping things legal, I'm going to change my concept of a goblin barbarian into something else.

I've been doing some reading on it, and it looks like its a very convincing homebrew, until you start reading into it and mechanics seem weird. Shame, the Runeguard fighter looked pretty cool too...

I will keep with the martial theme and create a dragonborn fighter or paladin. Someone to thwart any charge against the spellcasters, at least.

Yeah, average hp works. Ive got to start working on an intro that makes sense. We know that Deturai (CaveJohnson) runs a travelling food truck. What about the rest of you? The town we're starting in is primarily agricultural, but still has its shops, inns, tenples, etc.

I've submitted a dragonborn fighter and took the City Watch background from SCAG. My rough idea is that he is a former member of the guard from another town that is looking for more adventure than the cobblestones of the city.

The reason for leaving his job is part of his flaw; he made a terrible mistake that cost the lives of the innocent. Specifics haven't been hammered out, but it's an opening for why he'd be in the vicinity of the intro and justifies his desire to do something to keep himself busy.

@Cancerman I'll take a look at it. Do you think he would have lived in a mountain city in the central ridge that deals with transport, or an edge city on the left cliffs that deals with trade or war during contact, and science and experimentation otherwise?
@Cavejohnson Same question to you. Where would your character be from?

I'm building up towns based on where each character comes from. Like making their races more common there and such.

@eldritchblast90 that should be fine. I don't plan on having many aasimar though, so play to that in your background if you could.

Without knowing anything about the world you've created (aside from the obvious), I'll make a wild stab at being from the mountains.

As for subclass, I chose Champion to make a raw fighter, just didn't note that in the Class field. The only other indication is the Improved Critical feature.

Okay, champion it is! And yeah, sorry about the lack of info on the city. I'll try to get down a basic sketch of it during my lunch here.

I would go with being from a major type city, lots of trade many foods many farms

There should be one tail-ward, and another few head-ward. I'll write one as well as the edge city soon.
