OOC:
Can Erden see anything under the water?
Jul 25, 2018 4:10 pm
You can just barely make out a shadow underwater. Could be the helicoprion is deeper in it than before. Then again this could be something else entirely.
Jul 25, 2018 4:49 pm
"Duuude," Ybus bubbles underwater, watching the pockets of air rise to the surface while he sinks downward. He looks down to try and see what is getting intimate with his leg meat and attempts to escape the painful grasp. His leg briefly flares with a warm glow as Ybus tries to staunch some of the wounds.

Rolls

Athletics - (1d20+4)

(11) + 4 = 15

Healing Light, Ybus - (1d6)

(6) = 6

Looking down, Ybus sees the helicoprion's whiplike jaw wrapped around his leg. He manages to wriggle free and heal his own wounds.

OOC:
Action and movement still available to Ybus. Erden can also go. You can see Ybus just beneath the surface.
Jul 25, 2018 6:11 pm
OOC:
Would the grapple escape attempt be considered an action?
Jul 25, 2018 6:39 pm
OOC:
Gee, you're right. Movement still available then. Risk of OA of course.
Jul 25, 2018 6:44 pm
OOC:
Yeah, I'll stay there. Should Ybus survive the next round, I've got plans.
Jul 25, 2018 6:47 pm
OOC:
Cool! Erden's turn then.
Jul 30, 2018 3:17 pm
OOC:
Sorry about that! It's been a busy couple of weeks
Erden will wait to see if the creature surfaces. If it does, he will launch a bolt of flame at it.

Rolls

Ready Action Firebolt - (1d20+6, 1d10)

1d20+6 : (15) + 6 = 21

1d10 : (1) = 1

No worries! Just wanted to be sure this hadn't fallen under the radar. :-)

It's the bottom of the round so as I understand it your readied action is going to go to waste. Are you sure you wouldn't rather do something else this turn?

OOC:
The readied action should remain active until the start of my next turn. There's really not much else for me to do, otherwise. I don't have any way to help Ybus come back to the team
Jul 30, 2018 6:38 pm
OOC:
Ah in that case I misunderstood the rules governing readied actions. Okay then, new round. Baracus' turn. That boat isn't coming through the gap in the trees unless you do something about it. Without a boat it will be a tough and treacherous (though not impossible) trek back to the city assuming you survive the temple.

Rule below just for ease of reference
[ +- ] Ready Action

OOC:
Cool beans! That means the helicoprion might trigger your readied action on its turn.

LenInactive for 1 months

A little tight for time here Jabes, will post my intent to keep the game rolling. I want to get the boat on dry land of possible and wade back into the water to pull Ybus out. I'm including some rolls here if it helps. I'd rather not attack, but instead wrest Ybus from the fish's flippers/tooth whorl. I will bring him back even if I suffer an OA, although with those rolls I think it is unlikely.

Ybus has broken free of the monster's grip but you don't know that. He is just below the surface - you can see him and also vaguely make out the creature underneath him. The water is too deep for wading - you'll have to swim to the action, and that will mean letting go of the boat. What do you want to do?
Aug 1, 2018 7:01 pm
Baracus lets go of the boat and dives in after Ybus.

"Stop fooling around, Ybus!"

Although he has every confidence in his diminutive comrades, he has always had trouble believing such a tiny beings could be so hardy in battle, and he does a poor job of disguising his concern with annoyance.

Baracus lets go the boat and dives into the water. He quickly makes it to Ybus and turns to swim back to shore but the helicoprion has other plans. It grabs Baracus about the torso and drags the half-orc away, trailing blood. Baracus struggles but is unable to break free (Athletics check failed). He can feel the monster begin to dive and drag him into the murky depths of the river. On the riverbank, Erden can't quite make out what's going on beneath the surface (ranged attacks on the monster that originate from the surface will be at Disadvantage). The current here isn't very strong but Erden sees the boat begin to drift nevertheless, and he realizes they could lose it if he doesn't tie off the mooring line.

• Baracus takes 17 piercing damage and is Grappled. Escape DC 12.
• The fish drags Baracus 40ft upriver and will dive next round.
• Ybus can take an OA if he wishes.
• Ybus and Erden are up.

ROUND 4 (in progress)

Initiative order and status:
1. Baracus: 34/51hp, 1/3ki.
2. Helicoprion: 24 damage.
3. Ybus: 16/23hp.
4. Erden: 26/26hp.

Battlefield Features:
1. Deep, murky water.
2. A gap in the bamboo trees on the west bank.

Rolls

1d20+6 : (17) + 6 = 23
