Welcome, All! For now we'll be discussing the game and figuring out the ccenario and all that fun stuff.

I have generally envisioned this as a Werewolves hunting vampires game but I'm open to other ideas.

Sounds great! I would like to sign up for the Vampire side, but I am willing to play a Werewolf if we need to balance things out or something. I'm flexible.

I'm honestly not familiar with the setting at all, but I'm willing to go with werewolves and vampires.

It isn't that hard to pick up. Originally it was a dark urban fantasy horror setting where all the things that go bump in the night are real and fighting to survive. The world is the real world but with monsters lurking in the dark places.

The other factions out there are Wraiths(ghosts), Mummies, Demons, Changelings, and Hunters(mortals who know about monsters...literal inspiration for the Supernatural tv series.)

Werewolves and Vampires have a built in hatred so I think they make a great pair for this game. If you've seen the Underworld franchise of movies you get the gist. Werewolves are territorial pack hunters and see vampires as undead abominations that need to be destroyed. Vampires are bloodthirsty murderers who see werewolves as big vermin, beneath notice if they weren't so dangerous.

That's a pretty solid intro. I also thought using actual Hunters could be an option too. But Werewolves vs Vampires is pretty classc and Werewolves are much less squishy.

Let's hold off on choosing sides yet. I want everyone to have a chance to play how they want.

Despite the PvP elements, I still want this to be a role play and character focused game. There's definitely room for a neonate vampire who barely knows his fangs from his ass. That way you don't have to be be super knowledgeable about the lore.

I would like to play a demon if possible.

I want to hear everyone's preferences.

But just to be clear, I do want each of the groups to be homogenous. Like a group of vamps vs a group of Werewolves... A full crossover game where everyone plays different splats is a bit too much for me and from what I understand is like impossible to actually run effectively even by seasoned WoD storytellers

I agree that full WoD Crossovers can't be done. The rules of one or two types can be managed. You get a third or fourth in the mix and problems start to creep up. Usually power imbalance that allows for characters to become invincible.

That said, my favorite creature types are Vampire and Changeling. Werewolf is cool and make great antagonist for Vampires. So they would be ranked third. So I would like these pairings:

Werewolves (hunters) vs. Vampires (prey)
Vampires (hunters) vs. Changelings (prey)

Vampires can treat Changeling blood as a drug, it makes vamps loopy, like taking halucinagens, LSD or Shrooms.
The Wolf/Vamp rivalry makes for a great power struggle.

I don't have any issue with Demons, and it might be fun to play Hunters tracking down Demons.

Hi everyone. I would be on board with werewolves and vampires going either way. I think I would get more excited about actual hunters playing the well, hunters and the vampires as the prey.

I feel that this is to good an opportunity to play something not standard (I.e vampires vs werewolves. Which has been done a billion times) but if most people want that I will play.

I'm not opposed, I just want to reach some form of consensus among the groups.

In fact, I could see vampire as being less than ideal for this type of game. Traveling is pretty difficult and you can only really operate half the day.

That is a definite weakness of vampires. And more so depending on the specific location. Vamps in Miami probably don't get as much done as those in Vancouver. If Werewolves hunt during the day they might uncover a lair or two and end the problem.

If we're looking to cut something, I'm more of a werewolf fan than a vampire one. Regardless, I'm on board with whatever factions we chose. The hunter/prey concept is the hook for me, rather than any particular faction.

Alright, so Ive been doing a lot of reading and I have several scenarios that I think could work. If someone has strong objections or opinions I'm open to them but I think a little structure would help.move us forward:

1. Werewolves hunting Vampires - Pretty standard. Vampires will have some plot they are following, Werewokves will.catch wind of it and Vampires are tainted by the Wyrm. Nuff said.

2. Vampires hunting Werewolves - Werewolves pursuing some plot and more than likely encroach on Vampire territory. Prince calls for a hunt. Nuff said

3. Hunters hunting Vampires - Pretty much same as 1 just hunters instead of Werewolves

4. Hunters hunting Demons - have not read.much demon, but this could be interesting. It would be a lot like the movie Constantine

5. XXXX vs Hunters - I'm less excited about this one but I can see plots for this scenario

I.have not included Wraith, Changeling or Mage because honestly I don't feel super comfortable running those and wrapping my head around that lore.

I think this is a great list and agree that limiting us to this list is a good step forward.

The more I think about it, Hunters v. Demon seems cool. Or Werwolves v. Vampires.

Those are my top two. I would be happy playing any of those 4 factions.

Yeah I think having a human element versus something that has unknowable/variable form would be best (either Demons v hunters or XXXX vs hunters). That might add some intrigue if the demons can jump and possess various persons. As much as I'm tired of Supernatural (I'm like 7 seasons behind at this point) I think it would be cool to play out something in the vein of that. Any NPCs we come across could theoretically be any of the extras (vampires, werewolves) that might add some complications between us. I'm very much down! :D
