Janhur is next. Ven's attack appears to be correct, and wow is that powerful. A few initiative boosts as well and the rogue is pretty comfortably doing serious damage. Does anyone else see anything different? I compared it to the description of sneak attack from 1e, and it seems like the removed the requirement that the rogue has to catch someone off guard. I'm copying the text over for the sake of comparison.

"Sneak Attack: If a rogue can catch an opponent when he is unable to defend himself effectively from her attack, she can strike a vital spot for extra damage.

The rogue's attack deals extra damage anytime her target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the rogue flanks her target. This extra damage is 1d6 at 1st level, and increases by 1d6 every two rogue levels thereafter. Should the rogue score a critical hit with a sneak attack, this extra damage is not multiplied. Ranged attacks can count as sneak attacks only if the target is within 30 feet.

With a weapon that deals nonlethal damage (like a sap, whip, or an unarmed strike), a rogue can make a sneak attack that deals nonlethal damage instead of lethal damage. She cannot use a weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage in a sneak attack, not even with the usual –4 penalty.

The rogue must be able to see the target well enough to pick out a vital spot and must be able to reach such a spot. A rogue cannot sneak attack while striking a creature with concealment."

Compared to the spoilers marithyme posted, that is quite a change.

Ooze is at 26/40 HP.

"There's something you don't see every day." Janhur growls as the thing oozes towards the group. Striding forward to put the creature between him and Ven, he strikes twice with his sword - a quick downward thrust followed an arcing slash.

EDIT:

I TOTALLY misunderstood Furious Focus, thought it would make me immune to Multiple Attack Penalty! Nope, it only makes it so your MISSES don't count! LOL! Consequently, my second attack's +5 modifier should have been cancelled out by the -5 penalty. So 16 total.

Since the ooze has already gone, I believe it is Struuk's turn now. Also, Jabes, if you'd like to change your character, feel free.
THe first weapon swings past the creature as it quivers, well, because its ooze. The second weapon makes the blow count, and the ooze takes the hit, although it doesn't seem to acknowledge the damage.
OOC:
That's another -10 to the ooze. 16/40 left
Aug 28, 2018 3:29 am
Struuk grins and takes a half beat to study the ooze, trying to figure out the best way to hunt this creature before bringing his crossbow up to his shoulder, grinning and squeezing the trigger, sending the bolt hurtling towards the ooze. His fingers drop to his thigh without looking, sliding another bolt out to slip it into the groove atop the wooden frame.

The attack is clumsy, but finds its mark. Still trembling in its attack, the ooze presses forward and lashes out at Ven. The slimy appendage appears almost out of nowhere, and bashes the ranger. A lingering burn lasts beyond the initial strike.
OOC:
The extra 1d4 is for acid damage.

Yup, that hits. I didn't roll damage because I thought there was no way that an 8 would hit AC! wow.

Rolls

rapier damage - (1d6+4)

OOC:
Either it has really low AC or the fact that Janhur & Ven have it flanked is a factor, or both.
Sep 1, 2018 4:06 am
OOC:
AC is 5.
The ooze quivers a moment, almost if it were suddenly cold and shuddering then releases itself into the floor and becomes a sticky puddle. You can see now that the spot it left behind looks like a somewhat fresher corpse of some kind. The ooze must have been metabolizing whatever was left on it.
OOC:
As an aside, we'll have company this weekend. My posting may be spotty.

The sound of huffing and wheezing can be heard from the entrance. An overweight man wearing simple cleric's robes enters tha chamber. Pasty and red-faced, he motions at you all as he leans over on his knees breatheing rather heavily. "Sorry...(huff puff)...I was the only...(huff puff)...available messenger," he stummers. He eyes you all with a confused look as you stand around what appears to be a puddle on the floor. "I have a message for you all, and an offer of assistance if you're interested."
Sep 4, 2018 5:21 pm
"Catch your breath, man. Here, have some water. What'sthis message?"

A pasty faced cleric of note...

He smiles and says, "Lady Deverin suggested you might need my services in the pit you're entering. I'm glad I caught you before I had to wade in there myself. She had forgotten to mention that they'd caught a prisoner whomight have some valuable information for you. In case you were unaware, goblins are rumored to be behind some of the recentproblems. HOwever, it appears, and you can takethis how you want, but it appears that the goblins are being run by a hobgoblin. There could be odd thingsgoing on in there. Not sure what to expect." After a brief pause to take a couple of deep breaths he says. "Sorry, my name is Eul."
OOC:
I was trying something new with the pic and using IMGUR. why didn't that work? ANy suggestions?
Sep 5, 2018 4:24 pm
Janhur claps the man on the back. "Yet more'n welcome t' join our merryband, Eul! Ye look like a man who enjoys a good, strong drink. Let's get these goblins sorted out quick an' I'll buy ye a drink!"
