OK...so I have been sitting on this idea since Wayfinder's Guide came out. I think I'm ready to get it going. So if there is interest, I want to run a 5e D&D game set in Eberron. Looking for a group of 4. I'm going to be hard on that number because I prefer smaller groups.
PCs will start at 4th level and MUST fit the wandslinger described on page 43. What this amounts to is actually pretty simple...you have to be able to cast one or more spells with an offensive nature. We would start at 4th level so that, if nothing else, your character can take the Magic Initiate feat. Other options include multiclassing, class options (Eldritch Knight or Arcane Trickster for example), Racial Subtypes (High Elf comes to mind...others might exist), or Racial Variants (Dragon Marks are either subtypes or Variants, but don't provide the requisite 'attack spell' a PC needs, so don't expect to rely on that) can make a character qualify as a Wandslinger. And the Artificer class from Unearthed Arcana is allowed.
The opening arc of the story will be inspired by Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai. We will start in Q'barra, in the frontier town of Hope. Home to miners, farmers, settlers, criminals and deserters of The Last War. A band of brigands threatens the town and the sheriff can't handle things all on their own. That is where our PCs come in. And of course there is the uneasy truce with "the scales" that live in the nearby jungle...lizardfolk and dragonborn 'savages' that seem to like nothing better than to eat helpless settlers that wander to far from home.
I'm going to add one more Personal Characteristic to the list also. In Wayfinder's Guide, it suggests a Debt, a reason your character needs to make 200gp right quick. I want everyone to have an idea for that as well. This goes right along with Personality Traits, Ideals, Bonds, and Flaws. There is a list you can pick from in the book, or you can make your own. We will discus it.
So...anyone interested?
