Keavan stands firm, a grim look on his face.
He holds his gloved right hand up, extends it toward the shambling corpse and exclaims.
"Maskan!"

Vardo, already edging away from the cantrip to both remain in the shadows and to make better use of his darkvision, lets out a soft hiss when he sees the undead creature shamble toward the group. In one smooth motion he unslings his bow and notches an arrow.

He immediately realizes, due to the speed of the creature, that he has ample time to act. Slipping further into the shadoiws he steadies his breathing, aims, and looses his first arrow at the abomination.

Midnight takes a deep breath, forcing herself to look directly at the undead creature. She widens her feet into a stronger stance and stamps the end of her staff into the stone floor of the cave.

She twirls the end of her staff over her head, a bubble of green liquid forming as it circles in the air above her. She flings the bubble at the undead creature.

Keavan's arcane fire bolt pierces straight through the shambling zombie's chest, leaving a small gaping hole in its wake. The zombie staggers backwards a few steps then continues its awkward steps towards the party.

In quick succession, Vardo releases his arrow and sticks it right into its left eye. It lets out its choking croak again and momentarily stops its steps to steady itself. It begins to quicken its awkward steps to reach the party. Though clearly in bad shape it is not deterred from its singular goal.

In a moment of unfortunate serendipity, as zombie staggers from Keavan and Vardo's shots, Midnight's bubble of acid whizzes by the zombie's head and bursts harmlessly on the cave wall.

Think Jackie Chan in Drunken Masters (if you get the reference).

I'll wait for Breezy's description and damage roll when he's back later to continue.

Bleak, if you're in contact with Remus, let him know we're in combat situation. Otherwise, either I'll take control of Falka or she'll take a backseat for now.

Still in a grim and dour mood, Falka speaks not a word as the revolting creature, if it could be called that, rises from the floor. Not too keen on going closer to the shambling mess of rotting flesh and maggots, she instead takes a short hatchet from her belt and slings it over her head on one swidft and brutal motion.

Because of its slow and awkward movement, the zombie makes for a relatively easy target. So, even though the handaxe slips from Falka's sweaty hand a little earlier than she anticipated, the axe lodges deeply into the middle of its forehead. A dark crimson, almost jet black, syrupy liquid oozes from the wound.

The zombie twitches as it struggles to move forward. Then drop backward, once again lifeless.

Seeing as his bolt is not needed, Breezy moves forward and to the right, trying to get a better view down the tunnel.

How far forward?

I've moved you about 25' forward. If you wanna go farther in or if someone else wants to scout ahead or if the party wants to just continue on let me know.
Breezy moves up a bit to scope out the path. He sees that the passage continues on and begins to narrow. However, it is too dark beyond the reach of his light spell to see anything more further down the passage.

"The tunnel continuesss, but we will have to go sssingle file, I think. Thossse with better eyesss will need to go firssst. I'll lower the light to not betray our coming."

Yohna moves up with Breezy, then approaches the corpse and steps on its chest, removing the axe and proffering it for Falka. "Good shot, Ser Falka." She comments, then rears back and brings her boot down on the creature's head with as much force as she can muster, turning her heel left then right once it comes down. "Sounds like a good plan, Master Breezy. Let's make headway, we can't afford to linger. And everyone keep your senses alert for more of these wretches.

The party trudges on through the western passage, with Breezy dimming his light. The passage goes on for about 60 feet from the zombie corpse and opens up into a round cavern with high ceiling. It has two narrow exits, one leading north and the other south. A flat boulder sits in the center of the cave. It’s about six feet across, eight feet long, and three feet high. Dark stains color its top.

Suddenly, heavy wooden crate crashes down on the frontline (Keavan, Falka). Afterwards, two zombies jump down from a ledge 10 feet above the entrance in front of Keavan and Falka - the impact from which you hear bones snap and sinews tear. A third walking corpse rises up from behind the boulder and moves in toward the party.

Keavan and Falka, make a Dex save.

Everyone, roll initiative.

Breezy, given a clear shot, takes aim at the blasphemous creature in front of Falka and releases a bolt.

Keavan caught unawares by the falling crate does his best to dodge, but doesn't make a very good job of it.
Despite this he bounces back and still gets the drop on the zombies.

Still reeling a little from the impact of the crate, Keavan strikes out at the zombie directly in front of him.

The crate crashes down as it breaks into pieces and spills boulders around in front of Keavan and Falka. Keavan is caught off guard and takes a glancing blow from the crate (3 pts of dmg).

Breezy's bolt is dead eye on the mark and sticks deep into the zombie's shoulder.

As Keavan recovers he swings his longsword but Keavan is still off balance and his swing is awkward and misses the mark.
