7:32 AM, June 12th 2003. Temperatures are expected to rise towards the mid 80’s by early afternoon. Traffic is at a standstill while businesses start their day. In downtown LA an office building like any other stands tall. "R&R Solutions" is displayed on the side of the building, a tall fence keeping out unwanted guests.
Underneath this average structure is where things get interesting: The L.A. command center for Lock. A circular room filled with rows of computers, chatter, and a diverse cast of employees occupies the space, dubbed "mission control" (or MC for short). To the north hanging from the wall are several massive monitors showing a map of California, with several pulsing red dots littering the screen. Only a scant few pay it any mind, most are far too busy. Some are bringing coffee for coworkers, a gnome is hard at work troubleshooting a desktop while two humans examine schematics for an underground expansion. To the East and West lie the vast hallways leading to its extensive facilities, from dormitories to the armory, archives and more are maintained here by the employees.
Towards the south side near the entrance elevator of the MC is a small conference room. Soundproof window film allows everyone inside to view the outside workings and vice versa, not that anyone is trying to eavesdrop. A table stands with enough space to fit eight people comfortably, with snacks and coffee sitting in the center. Five of the chairs are occupied by individual who were simply told to arrive here at 7:30 sharp for inauguration. While no one has confirmed it, there are rumors each of you is a candidate to be a field agent.
