Episode One: New Taste

"Ah, well, that is..." Mulrick is suddenly flustered, regretting his words. Understanding nothing will come from keeping silent he continues "Ulgrik said me and the crew had ta capture that thing, for Jakor's "plans". Said we owes a debt, for Jakor's hos-pi-tal-a-tee But we didn't wan' to! All I did was carry Jakor's dumb stuff anyway, so heavy! And when we finally find it we get smacked into wall! Careful or you next." Mulrick sounds sincere in his warning.

Flitter follows Jericho's directions, looking back at Mulrick one last time. "Watch as he schemes and slithers, for it is all they know. We saw it came to pass the green one would be among my larcenists, and just as it was written he was there. But now it is he who is trapped in the walls, a surprise we welcome."

"The network? You telling me the computer just up and busted on you cause of the "network"?! Do you have any grasp on Data communications?? Scoot, so I can fix it!" You can't tell if they are irate at your lack of expertise, or simply talk in an overly aggressive manner. Regardless they hop onto the chair you were using and boot up the PC into recovery mode.

"Jakor won't tell! I even tried ta' peek his plans, but I... can't read well. But I'm learnin'!" Mulrick sounds a bit disappointed in himself at this. Mentioning Flitter's attack he beings to move in an animated fashion, propping himself against the wall. "They jus' pushed their arms out." He thrusts his own arms forward with exaggerated force, and rushes forward, flailing his limbs. "Whoosh! They were all glow-y and scary, thought I was done for."

"He helped steal us away! And our Star, we say him touch it, they all did! but only we are worthy, malcontent brands their soul!" Flitter's voice rises in frustration at your questions, tilting their head in annoyance that you find reason to doubt these accusations.

He doesn't respond, instead grumpily mumbling to himself as he types away. "Computer expert person... bah..." Right as you get back into your reading you are interrupted. Again. "Alright, now show me what you did, SLOWLY."
He puts unnecessary emphasis in the tail of the sentence; Lock's internal library system shines on the monitor, awaiting your input.

"We...I...yes. We shall respect you, for keeping us hidden." Flitter looks everywhere but your stern face while coming to a decision. When they do, their tone has lost most of it's aggression.

Mulrick pipes up now that his interrogation has ended. "Does dis' mean I can get shorter sen-tence?" His tone is rather optimistic.

"Do that again and I'm leaving." He says bluntly. You aren't sure if he's bluffing. Navigating the page results in the same corrupted text coupled with another shut down. "WHAT?! What in the 9 realms of Baator is with this Damned thing." He gives the computer tower a hearty smack and plugs in a USB drive. "Bet it was an intern who wanted to 'impress me'" His rantings continue at an unprecedented rate.

Mulrick jumps with joy. "Yessss! Thank you, dat' is all. Give Jakor extra big punch for me."

"...What?" He seems legitimately confused by your request, as if you spoke another language. "...Eh, fine. " Continually typing away he enters several more commands through a CLI before yanking out the USB drive. "Most unusual this is. Better not be another damned leak, or I'm going to kill the director myself for not adhering to my security protocols. Bad news is no one can access that wing of the library, til I do some investigatin'."

"No, we have much to discover and waiting fills us with boredom." Flitter nods meekly.

With technology failing you now, it's off to the library. While most records are not kept on paper -save documentation which warrants physical backups (treaties, ancient pacts, etc.)- Lock understands the need to maintain a collection of tomes nonetheless. The library is a smaller department, about the size of a convenience store, but every inch is packed with shelves upon shelves of books and a small wooden table. It smells of dust and wood cleaner, and the hanging chandelier provides reasonable brightness, keeping all but the edge of shadows at bay.

You don't see Mortimer the librarian anywhere, perhaps he is sleeping at the moment. Regardless you scour the rows for anything regarding Dal Quor or dreams, settling on two books: Sweetest Dream, Worst Nightmare a fairy tale about a young girl who finds herself trapped in an otherworldly place, trying to find her way home. Some may scoff at using children's books for research but it wouldn't be the first time implausible stories have helped an investigation.

The second appears to be a journal, written by Alida Harkson. Evidently she led several expeditions to multiple planes back in the 1920's. Unfortunately the back of this journal informs you she was deemed clinically insane at some point during her travels, and subsequently died quite some time ago.
