I'm thinking maybe an Ex-soldier of the inquisition. He could have become a mercenarie or joined the military after the Inquisition was disbanded. His current job could be to investigate the strange occurrences.

I'll think I'll go with supply sergeant who used to work with a merchant before joining the Inquisition. I could have been a bodyguard/driver for them.

I joined after the merchant I was working for died after are caravan was attacked as it went through areas that the Templas and mages were fighting in. After the Inquisition ended I decided to put use everything I learned as a soldier in the Inquisition and joined a mercenarie company.
