Your dear friend Rupert Merriweather is dying of cancer. He has called you and two other of his close friends on the evening of September 9, 1928. What he shares frightens you but you know you must act.

I'm looking for three investigators to create CoC 6e characters set in the 1920s to partake in this story. Three-four posts per week, weekends optional.

Any questions, post them hear. I'll start as soon as the first three characters are posted. We'll sort out if and how you know each other at the start of the game.

Any interest in a Call of the Cthulhu game anyone?!

I would love to... however, I do not own 6th edition.

I would be interested. I warn you that I have not played PBP before - this would be my first game. About 3 posts a week is perfect for me. Thanks!

Ah, my good PbP friend Szemely! Terrific.

Teaanddice, what edition do you have? The 7e quick start rules may be easy enough to convert back to 6e for the purposes of our game. the 7e quick start I believe is free.

Rocklet, we all need to start somewhere! Three posts per week is the minimum needed (in my experience) for a game to keep moving.

Looks like we have the 3 players we need. Go ahead and roll up some characters or pick some pregens. Any questions, post them here and I'll do my best to answer them.

Yep, got 7ed. Can't wait, however, I've never played in this system, so I might need some extra walk through in character creation, but this has been something I've wanted to try for a long time.

Arjen, that was fast! Seems I am in a game less than an hour after joining!
Splendid!
So... Do I roll a character on my own, or is there software here?
I better go read the information on the site and learn how this works! Thanks!

Glad to be part of another one of your adventures, Arjen. Looking forward to it!

Are we going to run this as a custom game then?

FYI the 6th edition quick start rules are also available, free, at DriveThruRPG.

Oh, good 6e fast start rules. Everyone pick those up and follow the character creation outline if you don't have the full book. I will run things with those rules then as I don't own 7e myself. I'll get the game page up ASAP.

Ask any questions about game mechanics as needed. I am by no means an expert on CoC or PbP!

A couple of questions:
- I've looked around the site and I can't seem to find a link or document on how the whole thing works. Am I perhaps missing something? I believe the GM sets up a forum and we post messages on the forum and that's how the game progresses. Is that correct? And how are private messages to the GM handled? What about dice rolls?
- How should we present the character sheet to the GM? Email it? Or is there a place to post it?
Sorry for all the questions!
Timing is a little tricky this week so I won't get to the character until tomorrow or Thursday.

1. Go to the front page of the site and in the bottom left is a list of games. The top one should be called edge of darkness COC. Press on that and the "join" button.
2. Dice rolls are handled inside posts. You can't post rolls here, but they will be buttons on the bottom left in the Games forums.
3. You can create a character sheet by pressing on 'Characters' and choose the sheet called 'Custom' this should allow you to type any information you need. There is not a COC Character Sheet yet, which is why you have to use a Custom one. Once you've created a character you can submit him/her from the place you also clicked "join".

Hope that helped!

Glad I could help and am really looking forward to playing CoC at last!

Thank you for helping out Tea! Yes, let's just all use the custom sheet. No sense using Myth Weaver and needing to open another page. Besides, I'm sure our wonderful host and web master will add CoC at some point.

At this point, everyone can shift their discussions over to the OOC thread for the game page itself.

I'm looking forward to this one everyone.

Are you still looking for players? I have 6th edition, but have yet to play it. I was going to try and dm it for friends.
