Hey no passing notes in class!
Sep 27, 2018 6:35 pm
There is no response from your knock...what do you do?
Sep 27, 2018 9:31 pm
Gu'lorg speaks through the door. Leylin? Leylin...it's your friends. I brought you some breakfast.

When he notices no answer, he tells Droop'lorg in goblin:
[ +- ] In Goblin
He hands Droop'lorg the glass staff, then he begins to open the door slowly with his free hand, holding the plate with the other.

The door is locked
Sep 27, 2018 11:10 pm
Gu’lorg, worries about his friend, casts mage hand on the other side of the door and attempts to unlock the latch/locking mechanism.
OOC:
Hoping that’s it’s not a key-only lock. I know that the spell text says an "unlocked" door specifically, but I’m trying to cast the hand on the unseen side of the door and grab the latch to undo it. (Hoping the spirit of my action still works for Mage Hand).

I’ll let you adjudicate if that works or not.

Gu’lorg tried to open the door with his mage hand.

Upon hearing Bebaral offer, he dispels the casting and steps aside.

It is all you, my friend.

Rolls

Sleight of hand w/ disadvantage - (1d20+2, 1d20+2)

1d20+2 : (18) + 2 = 20

1d20+2 : (5) + 2 = 7

I not very worried, being that elves tend to wake up early and go outside. But I don't know Leylin well, maybe he does otherwise. So I'll simply follow Gu'lorg for now.

It's a small town inn. I doubt that there are complicated locks in it, probably a wooden bar on the inside.

Rolls

Perception - (1d20+3, 1d20+3)

1d20+3 : (4) + 3 = 7

1d20+3 : (9) + 3 = 12

so slight of hand, plus theives tools should give me a +9 for that. if not its just the standard SoH for +7.. Also assuming theres a locking mechinism on this side.
Bebaral pulls out a small leather pouch from his pocket. This may get complicated. He looks to Sildar. This isnt for breaking in... but to make sure their friends safe... Bebaral turns back and deftly gets to work on the lock.

Rolls

Thieve's Tools - (1d20+9)

(13) + 9 = 22

OOC:
Since when lockpicking uses sleight of hand? It's Thieves' Tools (Dexterity) check.
Sep 28, 2018 2:10 pm
OOC:
I have to side with Kuroi here: lock picking required a Dexterity check (with proficiency bonus if proficient with Thieves' Tools).

Shouldn't change much though, as 18 (13+5) probably is enough to pick an inn door :)

Bebaral is easily able to open the door. As it swings open you see Leylin, sitting on the bed with his head buried in a book. You can hear him murmuring quietly to himself as he reads.
