Hi! I'm a veteran DM with experience in AD&D 2e, D&D 3.5e, D&D 5e, Pathfinder, OSR, and GURPS 4e. I'm just window-shopping for forum games—as a player, that is, since I'm too exhausted to do good DMing myself.

Nice to meet you!

I'm also looking for a good sci-fi system. Space-travel kind of sci-fi. I'd be happy to receive recommendations. Cheers!

Welcome!

Some Sci-Fi options: Traveler, Starfinder (Pathfinder in space), Cypher, Star Wars :)

Hello and welcome! Naatkinson has a good list, but I'll add Shadowrun.

Thanks for the friendly reception! I'll have to check out Cypher. Unfortunately, nobody at my school wants to touch Traveler, Star Wars is too franchise-specific, and I'm waiting on Starfinder to publish a few more sourcebooks.

I loved the recent Shadowrun games, Dragonfall and Hong Kong. Good reminder that these are actually pen-and-paper systems!

Welcome, maruahm!

Welcome maruahm. As to Sci Fi games, I'll add SpaceMaster (RoleMaster in space) if you're not afraid of a lot of crunch, or the Savage Worlds SF supplement, which was recommended to me when I was considering a Babylon 5 campaign.

Welcome! Not sure if you're familiar with GUMSHOE - it's not a mechanical engine that works for everyone - but Ashen Stars is a sweet (and award winning) sci-fi setting.

Again, thanks for the welcomes and suggestions, particularly those for RoleMaster (and SpaceMaster) and GUMSHOE. These are new names to me and worth checking out.

Welcome maruahm! Sometimes a person just needs to take off their DM hat. Hopefully you find a game you like!
