Nestled in a forest of perpetual springtime, the city of the newly christened Blood Elves, Silvermoon City, slowly regains its glory. The seemingly irreparably tainted Dead Scar, the lingering reminder of the Scourge's destructive march through Eversong Woods, cuts the city in half. Safe inside the reclaimed half of the city, the Sin'dorei acclimate to their new life in a changed world.
As a brave new Initiate of the Blood Knights, paladins wielding the Light through a captured Naaru, you are tasked with cleansing the undead menace that has ravaged your homeland.
OOC:
Please describe your surroundings as you begin your adventure!

Althaniar makes his ways through the streets of Silvermoon, on his way to meet Lady Liadrin, his superior in the Blood Knights by a few months in Farstrider's square. Upon reaching the area, he heads to the Blood Knight training area, nodding to anyone he recognised or waved at him.

As you make your way through the city, you see the painstaking efforts made to restore the city to its former glory. It looks like it once did, before the war. Except there was something missing - something hollow - about the city. Even with the new source of magic for the sin'dorei - gigantic green flaming crystals hung about the city to energize and feed its people - it wasn't the same as bathing in the energies of the Sunwell.
When you arrive in the training area, you just passed by the Farstriders proudly displaying their expertise with bow and arrow. A couple of them dart their eye to you, stand taller and somehow even more proud as they take their next shot. Next passing by fellow Blood Knights in combat training outside, you enter into the enclave of your order, the Hall of Blood. Decorated in a darker than usual scheme for blood elves, the violet and crimson banners and gold statuary lead you on your search for your superior, Lady Liadrin You soon find her in the lower level in a large room. Encircled and ensnared by Magisters, a naaru - the source of your holy powers - a large creature of physical shards of light floats before you. Lady Liadrin stands off to the side, fierce determination on her face - as is usual. Once a high priestess of the Light, she now commands the Light's powers. Noticing your arrival, she marches up to you, anger bubbling up in her voice but never yelling, "Well met. Your initiation training is nearly complete. Go to the Dead Scar west of the Shepard's Gate. A squad of Farstriders will be waiting. Show them the power of the Light when it is commanded instead of served. Cleanse the filth that lingers there." You know she is not angry at you but instead somehow at the bound creature or at least connected to it. She salutes you and returns to her study of the naaru.

Understood, my lady
Athaniar bowed before he spun on his heels and headed to where he was supposed to go. Before long, he reached and walked over.
I am Athaniar Dawnblade. Are you the Farstriders I am meant to lead? he asked as he smiled at his kin.
OOC:
I rolled officer as his position, but i'm not sure what rank XD cause there is no official ranks fr blood elves.
Oct 16, 2018 3:46 pm
A female addresses you, clearly the leader and not bowing to you, "It's been a long day of cutting down the mindless Scourge that endlessly parade down the Dead Scar. I hope you're here to lend a hand and not to waste my time with idle chatter." Before the last of her words are out of her mouth, the unmistakable growling of approaching Scourge draws your attention.
"Jaela!" one of her subordinates calls.
"Attack! Don't let them reach the gates!"
The rangers let loose a cloud of arrows into the approaching undead.
OOC:
Since it's just you and me, no need to worry about initiative. We'll go back and forth. As for the officer thing, we'll say that was your past - your background. That's what you were before becoming a Blood Knight. Now you're an initiate but you are treated with more respect and have some other perks as per your background.
Combat has begun. What do you do?
Oct 16, 2018 10:54 pm
Arrows don't work as well unless you shoot them directly in the head. If you have any sort of bludgeoning or crushing weapon, use those. It's much more effective.
Athaniar said before he roared a battle cry, charging into the Scourge.

Rolls

1d20+2

(18) + 2 = 20

1d8

(5) = 5

To your surprise, the rangers prove you wrong as several of the ghouls advancing on you drop to the ground, dead once more. You clash with the front ghoul, blasting its head apart with your warhammer. Its decayed body falls as two more swing their claws at you, one on either side of you.
OOC:
Don't forget to add your strength bonus to melee attack rolls and melee damage rolls. That would have actually been 23 to hit and 8 damage.
I've included the rolls as normal here, but that's not usually my way. I have hidden rolls in the past and use them as guidelines for what actually happens. Would you prefer we use the rolls as below or for me to narrate rolls as I see fit?

Rolls

Ghoul 1 (atk, dmg) - (1d20+6, 1d4+3)

1d20+6 : (4) + 6 = 10

1d4+3 : (1) + 3 = 4

Ghoul 2 (atk, dmg) - (1d20+6, 1d4+3)

1d20+6 : (16) + 6 = 22

1d4+3 : (3) + 3 = 6

Athaniar sidestepped the first undead, before yelping as he got hit by the next. Growling, he whirled, ready to fight it.
OOC:
I'm fine if you don't want to show your rolls. What do you mean by guidelines though?

OOC:
By guidelines, I mean that I would roll, see that a lot of damage would be dealt. Instead of 1-hit killing someone, I would leave them with a few hp left and add dramatic tension. Or I would see something else to change for betterment of the narrative.
As you sidestep the one ghoul, you leave just enough space for the rangers to take a shot, felling the foul creature and leaving you 1-on-1 with this last ghoul. The ghoul leans out of the way of your warhammer's deadly path before it lunges its head toward you, open maw reeking of rot.
It's jagged teeth snap empty air at the side of your head thanks to the superiority of elven reflexes.

Rolls

Ghoul bite attack - (1d20+6, 1d6+3)

Oct 18, 2018 1:18 pm
With a final yell, Athaniar swung his hammer, determined to finish the last ghoul.
OOC:
for some reason, it didnt register the attack roll... i'll just add 3 to the damage to make it 7.

Unfortunately, your seeing goes wide as you over correct, making you lose your balance. You don't fall, but merely stumble right past the ghoul. It spins around trting to claw you.
It's jagged claws do not penetrate your armor, but you feel them drag across your back.

Rolls

Ghoul claw attack - (1d20+6, 1d4+3)

Oct 19, 2018 5:01 am
Athaniar curses in his elven tongue, raising his shield as he readies himself for another swing. He felt how close the claws had been to actually harming him and thus he was warier and more cautious

Rolls

1d20+5

(11) + 5 = 16

1d8+3

(6) + 3 = 9

Your renewed focus pays off as your warhammer connects solidly with the ghoul's skull, smashing it to useless goo.
"Hail, warrior!" you hear from behind you. It's the leader of the rangers. "Should ever you find yourself nearby again, I , Jaela, would welcome the added strength." Though she speaks curtly, you sense this is sincere thanks from one such as her.
Oct 20, 2018 11:41 pm
Athaniar smiles and bows his head.
The pleasure will be mine.
He said, gently taking Jaela's hand and kissing the back of it before standing up.
Oct 22, 2018 1:16 pm
Jaela seems caught off guard.
OOC:
Ah, roll me a persuasion check.
Oct 23, 2018 1:09 pm
OOC:
okie. Oops my bad, forgot persuasion wasn't a prof skill. The result is a 8 then. Hopefully he doesn't get slapped XD

Jaela angrily pulls back her hand, looking disgusted and giving you a look over. "You assume much, paladin." She speaks that last word with venom before she turns, marching away and barking orders to her subordinates. You know that there is no love lost between the Farstriders (rangers) and the Blood Knights (paladins).
Do you return to Lady Liadrin or...?
Oct 24, 2018 12:42 am
Athaniar quickly ran in front of her before bowing.
My apologies, I did not mean to insult you.
He said seriously.
All I wanted to do was thank you for yours and your ranger's help.
Oct 24, 2018 1:36 am
Jaela stops with her back turned to you. She takes a deep breath before turning to you, taking a single step toward you. "I am indeed grateful for your assistance, paladin. This... animosity between our groups is but a bloated rivalry worthy only of children. Many Farstriders would hesitate - even flat out refuse - to join forces with a Blood Knight. Make no mistake, we are comrades in arms against our enemies." She pauses long enough for you to almost get another word out. "Just don't ever touch me again."
Oct 24, 2018 2:09 am
Athaniar tilts his head in understanding.
As you wish
He smiled.
And I agree. The rivalry between our factions is useless. Maybe we should start working together more often and show our leaders that together, we are stronger than we are apart.
OOC:
I'm curious what would have haplened if the checl had succeeded?
