Backstories

ok so I'm actually leaning towards a rogue scout...basically was used during the war as a spy and was captured...worked againts the house Tharashk or was captured by them by whomever their rivals/enemies were.

I don't know any of the lore of Eberron so I will require assistance with filling in the blanks but I like that base.

He will be a loner that had no family or friends...was not necessarily loyal to the side of the war he was working on but was getting paid and that was his motivation. Either way he was caught and has been incarcerated ever since.

How long has the war been over? I'm thinking my character is in his 30's but can go older as needed no problem...actually 50 wouldn't be bad either for me..but whatever makes sense...I would think he was caught towards the end of the war.

@Khotanos Its no trouble to me, I'm quite open to whatever concepts everyone has, curious how it fits in the the world.

@XOSkel10 A moody veteran who turned to religion, neat. I take it they weren't near the mourning when it occurred.

The last war was Dent’s purpose and vocation. Religion has become a purpose, but fighting is still the main vocation that feels right. While in battle, there is no time for emotion. With no war, his emotion as become hard to handle...warforged were not trained in emotion. I picture it like the opposite of a barbarian class, he becomes emotionless during battle which improves his prowess.

I'm thinking I've been imprisoned for 15 years. Being locked away for so long my physical strength has atrophied, justifying the 5 for my strength rating...but I remain nimble, charismatic and wise. Ready to get out of prison, i hold no grudge against my captors, its all business, I was sent to do a job (spy/assasinate,,,whatever) and I failed, so i have paid the price as a result.

Both of those concepts are good. Sclasclemski for houses that employed Fink I recommend house Medani (using subtly and information to learn about enemies, although their members are comprised of Half-elves you could be outsourced) Or Phiarlan/Thuranni (Elves - again a different race, they specialize in spies and assassins respectively.). An easy hook would be tasked with uncovering info on dragonshards deposits/shipments since everyone wants them, and house Tharashk is a major player in the business.

For a link to another player, I may have performed a ceremony for them or someone in thier family? OR... how about I have been visiting the prison for the past year that @Sclasclemski has been in. Looking for converts....

Let's see. As an adventurer, there is a decent chance that I've worked with some of the others in the past. For the trouble, I was thinking that a rival on a contract tried to underhand him, so there might have been a fight when they got back. And when a Goliath brawls someone who cheated them, it isn't pretty (heavily ingrained sense of "fair play" in the race).

I am thinking I know anyone else who had been in the military that way, Dent in particular, perhaps I was in the same unit.

OK, but Dent would have no respect for a deserter, would Dent know that you ran off from the war?

Oh yeah, he knew. Actually thinking it was Dent that was sent after me to bring me back.
Then had to put up with my muttering about finding the perpetrator and getting revenge the whole way back.

Would anyone like to have a session 0 for backstories, it would be a brief and general window at their past dealings. I could set up a short scenario such as when Dent captured Bright.

blacknightrising90 How does Aren fit in? I could see him running con's or involved in other shifty business with Fink at some point.

I think I'm still a loose thread at this point. Anyone have any hooks that might work for the fighter?

We could easily have ended up back to back in a brawl in Sharn at some point and successfully cleared out a tavern between the two of us. When the Watch came, I convinced you to let them take us peacefully to cool off, spending the night in adjacent cells at the Watch station. Warforged don’t sleep, so make good listeners in a cell.

Sounds good to me. Bar brawl buddies is always solid

As a heads up I am thinking of starting the campaign in a couple of days depending on how busy I am. On the subject @Khotanos are you in a good position or do you need some more time? If so don't worry about it.
