[Basic Fantasy] Across the Lucido Ocean: An Open World Adventure
A massive civil war in The Western Lands forced our heroes to voyage across the Lucido Ocean in search of a new life. A thunderstorm capsized their vessel, and our heroes -- the ship's sole survivors -- washed ashore on a rocky beach in The Eastern Lands.
From north to south, boulders litter the shoreline. Looking eastward, the boulders quickly give way to a 75 foot cliff atop which sits a lighthouse. A stone pathway zig-zags up the cliff side. It is reasonable to believe that you have shipwrecked somewhere near the port city of Maybury. Further south, thick forest tops the cliffs. Further north, cliff-side occludes your view.
This game is based on the Basic Fantasy system which aims for an OSR feel. Players should roll-up level 3 characters. I will use d20 checks in game. The tracking of provisions is not important since I believe time spent eating, bathing, trapping, drinking, etc happens outside of play automatically. If you spend time in dungeons, you won't find many traps.
The thief class as written is not allowed because it introduces percentile "thief skills" which, in my opinion, limit the other classes. Any character skills must either be acquired during game-play or must come with a justification during player creation. For example, starting your character with a +1 to sneaking should have a justification and perhaps may come at some cost. After character creation, doing things introduces the possibility of getting skill bonuses, and using gold to buy a book on the topic speeds this process. We only live once, so I encourage creativity in these matters.
If you would like to play, please pitch a character idea so I can gauge interest.
