Dungeons & Dragons 5e: Lost Mine of Phandelver [ EDIT ]
This game has been retired! That means it's no longer being run.
More than five hundred years ago, clans of dwarves and gnomes made an agreement known as the Phandelver's Pact, by which they would share a rich mine in a wondrous cavern known as Wave Echo Cave. In addition to its mineral wealth, the mine contained great magical power. Human spellcasters allied themselves with the dwarves and gnomes to channel and bind that energy into a great forge (called the Forge of Spells), where magic items could be crafted. Times were good, and the nearby human town of Phandalin prospered as well. But then disaster struck when orcs swept through the North and laid waste to all in their path.
A powerful force of orcs reinforced by evil mercenary wizards attacked Wave Echo Cave to seize its riches and magic treasures. Human wizards fought alongside their dwarf and gnome allies to defend the Forge of Spells, and the ensuing spell battle destroyed much of the cavern. Few survived the cave-ins and tremors, and the location of Wave Echo Cave was lost.
You begin your story in the city of Neverwinter when a dwarf patron and friend, Gundren Rockseeker, hires you to escort a wagon to Phandalin. Gundren has gone ahead with a warrior, Sildar Hallwinter, to attend to business in the town while you follow with the supplies. You will be paid 10 gp each by the owner of Barthen's Provisions in Phandalin once you've delivered the wagon safely to that trading post.

Character's will be created using the Standard Array of Ability scores found on Page 13 of the Player's Handbook (heretofore referred to as "the PHB") prior to selecting Race or Class. These scores are: 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15.
We will be isolating this campaign to the three 5e Core Books. Any Race, Class, Equipment, Backgrounds, and Spells found in the PHB is fair game for this campaign.
I am not experienced enough as a 5e DM to feel comfortable allowing homebrew or third party material, and I do not own a legal copy of Xanathar's Guide to Everything, so material from these sources will not be recognized.
For player's who do not have access to the three 5e Core Books, most material can be found legally and for free, at dndbeyond.com, including a really nicely put-together character creation tool, and I of course will be available to answer any questions you may have, hopefully in as expediently a manner as possible.
