Dedly Journeys in the Latter Earth
It is a time in the Earth's distant future. Empires have risen and fallen countless times over untold millennia. Sometimes humans brought about their own destruction, but Outsiders were the worst of all. These aliens subjugated humanity, enslaved many, treated others as food, reshaped the land and chattel to suit their malevolent purposes, and drove survivors deep underground where they plotted their revenge.
Magic is born from the Legacy, the accumulated mass of arcane laws and thaumic energies that have accrued over the eons. It began during human civilization's brightest period as a product of science and enlightenment, then was twisted to suit the conquering Outsiders, and ultimately forged into the tool for humanity's revenge against them.
In these days of the Latter Earth, the Legacy has decayed. The magic is not as it once was. Constant meddling with the Legacy has rendered it into a moth-eaten patchwork quilt of phantasmagorical laws and eldritch energies. Humanity and the remaining aliens are trapped here on Earth, forced to abide by primitive levels of technology, shackled to broken laws of physics. But mages study the workings of the Legacy and still use it to perform wondrous things. Some aspire to repair it, returning it to its former glory, either to benefit humanity or selfishly empower themselves.
Yet all is not lost. There is time for new heroes to arise from the ashes of dead empires to forge new nations that aspire to be something greater. In these days of the Latter Earth, will you be among them?

We'll be using the rules in the Worlds Without Number sourcebook. You can get the FREE version at DriveThruRPG.
I will set up a sub-forum for you to create your character. If you need assistance, I will gladly help out.
I'm allowing players to arrange their attributes any way they see fit for the character class they wish to play, and 1st level characters will be given max HP.
I'm going to utilize all of the Mage Traditions (full and partial) in the core rule book, and the partial Bard class from The Atlas of the Latter Earth. If there's something else you want to play, we can talk about it.
Humans are the baseline species, and given what's available to them, are not dull. Still, if you wish to play a demihuman, certain varieties will be permitted.
