The Skull Harvest [ EDIT ]
This game has been retired! That means it's no longer being run.
Deep in the eternal darkness of the Void of Corax sits a space hulk. The infamous blend of metal and spite is known to all among the fallen angels as The Trial of the Gods. It is the domain of the Warmaster Aelianus Augustus, former legionary master of the scouts for the Ultramarines. A man of wise tactics and an iron fist.
Five thousand years ago, Aelianus recognised the need for potential. If true faith and piety were to be shown to the gods of ruin, proper trained soldiers were needed to. He found the hulk and turned it into his kingdom of blood and ritual, forging a battelground for the elite.
He dubbed it a Skull Harvest, an open challenge to all the champions of their dark masters. Once a decade they would gather and do battle, and the winner would take the spoils, the soldiers and the momentum to deal death and destruction to the puppets of the Corpse Emperor.
This decade is no different. Warriors gather, some with warbands to prove and others as guns for hire. A bloody battle is promised, but who will emerge victorious.
The game will begin with the warband arriving on The Trial of the Gods and finding a place to use as their fortress. It’ll involve relations with the other warbands, whether through diplomacy or open warfare, and eventually a final battle to claim victory.
While the game will be sandboxy to a degree, all events will take place on the space hulk and there are a number of preplanned "story beats" to give each chapter / scene focus. Some of these will be directly involving the warband, while others will be involving other warbands which the players may decide to get involved with.
At the end of each chapter I like to check in for player feedback, so this is subject to change. If the players think it’s too restrictive I’ll loosen things up, and the same in reverse!

Characters are free to pick from mortals or astartes. Within reason, all of the mortal classes apply while the astartes classes are capped with; Champion, Forsaken, Sorcerer, Warpsmith and Veteran of the Long War.
If Veteran of the Long War is chosen, the character will need to be from one of the founding legions. However, I don’t require the characters to be from the traitor legions specifically. If you want to play a Blood Angel who fell to corruption then that’s fine with me!
Bear in mind this is our own canon, so try to avoid backstories that interact with canon characters even if the legions are fair game.
Marginalised groups are always welcome. I feel like encouraged might not be the right word, since maybe we don’t want to encourage anyone to become a chaos cultist, but for now I’ll say they’re encouraged too!
