Hidden Burrow of Phantailden [ EDIT ]
This game has been retired! That means it's no longer being run.
🐾 Adventurers Wanted! 🐾
🦊🛡️ The Lost Mine of Pawndale – An Animal-Kin D&D 5e Play-by-Post Campaign
Step into a whimsical world where brave mice wield swords, clever foxes spin illusions, and grumpy badgers guard ancient secrets. Magic pulses through roots and rivers. Shadows grow in the deep woods. And somewhere in the hills… an ancient forge waits to be awakened.
I'm seeking 4–5 players for a Play-by-Post style Dungeons & Dragons 5e campaign.
🧭 Campaign Details
Tone: Lighthearted adventure with room for heart and mystery
Expected Post Rate: Once per weekday (Weekends optional!)
Level Range: Starting at Level 1
System: D&D 5e 2014 with reflavored races and creatures (no homebrew mechanics required)
🐾 What You Can Expect
Reflavored classic 5e races as beastfolk (Mousefolk, Bearfolk, Owlfolk, etc.)
Feral raccoon bandits, panther mages, and giant flying snakes
Charming NPCs like Sir Whiskerford the otter knight and Grumbletail the beaver prospector
A mix of combat, exploration, and character-driven storytelling
A supportive, creative space where daily posting keeps the story alive
📝 How to Apply
Please comment or message with:
Your preferred animal-kin race and character concept
A short backstory or writing sample (1–2 paragraphs)
Your Play-by-Post experience (newcomers welcome if you're committed!)
Confirmation you can post once per weekday
Let’s build a cozy, chaotic, magical forest together. 🐢🌿✨
Will you answer the call of the wild?
My goal as a DM is always to challenge my players. I’m not out to kill your characters, but I do believe that actions have consequences. Not every fight will be winnable—sometimes, survival might mean making the smart call to retreat. Some enemies are intelligent and will behave as such, potentially targeting key party members like the healer or mage.
Regarding Armor Class (AC): In my experience, extremely high AC can make encounters less fun and less balanced, so I tend to place limits on AC. Some magical items or armor that boost AC may be rare or difficult to find. This helps keep combat engaging and fair for everyone.
Most of my past DMing has focused on combat, but for this campaign, I’m making a real effort to include more roleplay and encourage meaningful character interaction. During social encounters, feel free to roll checks like Insight, Persuasion, Deception, or Intimidation whenever it makes sense for your character. I may adjust rolls depending on the situation and context.
Interparty conflict is allowed, and I welcome complex character dynamics—including evil-aligned PCs—but the party still needs to work together toward common goals. If things escalate to a fight between characters, no one will die from that conflict—unless a specific situation makes that outcome unavoidable, which would be rare and clearly signaled.
Finally, I’ll be using an AI tool to help enhance the worldbuilding for this campaign. You might see this in the form of rumors, bounty boards, shops, or other immersive content that I hope will make the world feel more alive and detailed.
