Rufio and Weylan ponder the risks of venturing in the sewers, particularly the types of creatures they may encounter. In the darkness and gloom it doesn't take much for their imagination to run wild. Rats, insects, spiders, worms are just some of the critters they imagine. Then they remember slimes, and oozes, and molds. And that's not to mention diseases, and poisons, and rogues, and druggies. Yes, there is no doubt the sewer is not a friendly place to be.

Seneia takes point, and moving a little ahead releases her vision from the glare of torches. Peering 60' into the darkness she can see the tunnel continues straight, and unobstructed. Rufio is about 20' behind her and he's examining the water surface by the light of his torch. Watching the silent flow, and various ripples and floating objects he figures the water is about 3' deep.

After traveling about 300' Seneia thinks the monotony of the sewer is changing in the distance. She raises a fist to signal a full stop.

Everyone, Perception rolls. Describe what you are doing.

Weylan's imagination is running wild with the thought of all the creepy-crawlies that Seneia might run into, and he's on edge, trying to peer ahead in the gloom to see that she's OK.

Seneia peers ahead through the darkness, trying to understand what she is seeing. At the same time she presses herself against the wall, trying to make sure she does not alert anyone. She creeps along slowly, but is careful not to get too close.

Seneia pauses, and achieves perfect silence. She thought she saw something ahead but now she stops and concentrates she thinks she might be mistaken. It's those nearer the back who seem to get a better view, rather inexplicably. There's no doubt about it... There is something moving in the shadows ahead.

"I wonder..."

Szent will use his Divine Sense ability to see if he can tell what is moving about ahead of the party.

Weylan freaks out - he's on pins and needles, what with Seneia disappearing right after she signaled a halt, people acting like there's something nearby...he's liable to chuck a javelin at the slightest provocation.

Rolls

Initiative - (1d20+2)

(6) + 2 = 8

*Something is lurking in the shadows. It'll not take me unprepared* Feylinde starts moving her fingers, calling the powers of her patron.

OOC: I use ready action, preparing to cast Eldritch blast if anything hostile pops up fron the darknes ahed.

Initiative order: Seneia Elden Alanya Szent Rats Weylan Feylinde Rufio

As you peer into the darkness you suddenly realize what the movement is. A giant rat is running towards Seneia along the walkway. Another giant rat is on the far walkway, with two more swimming towards the group.

Actions please, roll your dice.

Rolls

Rats 1-2-3-4 (attack, damage) - (1d20+4, 1d20+4, 1d20+4, 1d20+4)

1d20+4 : (15) + 4 = 19

1d20+4 : (2) + 4 = 6

1d20+4 : (5) + 4 = 9

1d20+4 : (3) + 4 = 7

Oct 20, 2015 4:55 am
When the first rat reaches her, Seneia steps out of the darkness and spins to take two sweeping kicks at the rat. She fights silently, her hands drawn into open palm positions well-practiced in her kata, shoulders relaxed for speed, and eyes narrowed to focus on her target.

If the two attacks are enough to kill the beast, she'll draw backwards towards the others. If not, she'll stay engaged with it.

(OOC: If ten points aren't enough to kill a rat, then...well, let's just say that it'll be two games I'm playing in where the party is being slaughtered by giant rats!)
