"That's an interesting idea Roland. Assuming it is not affixed to the ground..."

OOC:
Would that be another detect magic spell? Is there a better spell I can't find?
Feb 7, 2019 4:04 pm
OOC:
Detect magic allows you to identify an item but not with as big a bonus as identify magic IIRC. So you could try detect magic and hope you get a high enough roll on your Spellcraft check.

OOC:
Identify is not a Cleric spell, so I would have to try detect magic. Does anyone else have identify?
Feb 11, 2019 8:18 pm
OOC: Only had the pit spell with right now that would be of any avail.

OOC:
Well, seems that settles that idea...

Heather is going to offer to go get a closer look at the metal plate. Specifically I am going to see if I can lift it/remove it from its position and turn off the flames.

What all should I roll? I do have a detect magi spell prepared, and I have a resistance to fire from my fire domain.
[ +- ] fire domain

OOC:
Hmm, right now there is a 10-foot pit between you and the plate, so first, you'll probably have to jump over it, unless Mark can dismiss it.
Feb 12, 2019 8:41 pm
Understanding what Heather is about to do, "I will dismiss that pit to make it easier for you." And he dismissed the pit.

In that case, Heather can easily reach the disc. She will notice it is solidly affixed to the room. She can always try to pry it off with a Strength check (probably helped with some tool), or maybe she can take the time to try and decipher the runes.

I will try and decipher the runes before I try prying it up.
OOC:
I rolled a spellcraft check because it is the highest for me but I also have points in knowledge Arcana or use magic device if that is more appropriate.

Rolls

spellcraft check - (1d20+6)

(16) + 6 = 22

OOC:
You know Strix probably have short life spans. Veroth will be less stealthy if his feathers turn grey.
Feb 13, 2019 4:18 pm
OOC:
No, Spellcraft will be fine.
The disc seems to open a small portal to the plane of elemental fire. Just enough to fill a large room with planar fire... probably to make sure imprisoned fire creatures feel right at home... Reading the runes again should allow you to close the portal and make the room safe to traverse once more.
Feb 13, 2019 4:23 pm
Heather uses her knowledge to close the portal and calls to her friends. She will explain how the glyph works and see if anyone can help her pry it up. Roland's idea of taking it with them is a good one, especially if it has no casting limit.
Feb 13, 2019 5:05 pm
Roland reaches into his climbers kit and pulls out a hammer and Piton.

We should be able to use these to chisel around it.

Darren nods, "This could be a powerful tool if used correctly," he says.
Feb 18, 2019 6:43 pm
"I would fear that when this item was made. It wasn't to be moved. So it probably isn't mobile, but we can try. What harm is there." Mark watches.
Feb 18, 2019 9:31 pm
Alright. I guess a Dexterity (if using finesse) or a Strength (if using brute strength) check could be made to see if you manage to pry the disc loose.
Feb 18, 2019 9:37 pm
"Need a hand? I have a deft touch." Veroth assists by doing it himself.

Rolls

Dexterity check, +6, +16 if Disable Device applies - (1d20+6)

(5) + 6 = 11
