Cædwyn, grits his teeth, his hair and clothing singed. He's more frustrated with his own ineptitude than in being a bit on fire. "I'm fine! Just keep burning them! I'll try to keep them penned up." His sword isn't doing much, but it's all he's got. He's really more focused on keeping their attention, and their attacks on himself, doing what he can to ensure the spell casters have the room to do their thing. He launches into another flurry of savage and unrefined attacks with his sword.

In the aftermath of the fireball, the plant creatures look decimated; but like any wounded beast there comes a savagery with knowing that your life is in danger, and the creatures try and resume their assault. Even as the canine beasts rush at Ilwyn and Caedwyn, you can see their scorched forms trying to repair the damage, but at a much slower rate than what you had been witnessing.

Even though you see and anticipate their attacks, the canines are ferocious none-the-less, and Caedwyn finds it difficult to fend off two of them attacking together. The razor teeth once again find their way to the bare flesh and bone beneath protective padding, and you feel the sharp sting in both of your forearms and thigh as the hungry things bite you.

More fortunate, the dog attacking Ilwyn seems much more damaged and in its weakened state it cannot break through your defenses. Over the top of both of you, a sling stone passes by, narrowly missing. Similarly, a rock clatters near Hraefn just as you release your flame upon the pygmy standing in the smoldering refuse down the hall. With a screech and a hiss, the flame engulfs the thing, and it staggers for a moment before falling into the pile with the rest of its companions.

Retaliating, Caedwyn slashes down on the first canine in range, battering it with a trio of blows, two of which nearly cleave the thing in two. Falling, it lies still at your feet, the thick yellow-green ocher seeping around your boots. Almost in tandem, Ilwyn grimaces and lands a solid blow of her own on the dag before you. Your blade emanates a chilling cold as it cleaves through the creature, the vines and stems comprising its body turning first white then black as the cold kills the beast. It, too, falls limp to the floor, leaving but one dog and one pygmy remaining

Seeing what is transpiring, Ilwyn and Caedwyn can see the other pygmy leader rush to the east, turn the corner and disappear to the north.
OOC:
Since the thorny #4 fell with the fireball, I redirected Hraefn's Produce Flame to Pygmy leader #2. 16 HP Piercing damage to Caedwyn. Updated map coming shortly.

"Never have I been so happy to see a forest fire!" Etna roars over the din of the explosion and pained shrieks of the monsters. Happy to once again have one target to focus on, Etna takes aim over and around her companions shoulders to find her target.

Bonus action to move hunters mark, then action to attack. Don't forget colossus slayer for target below max HP and +4 damage vs monstrosities! (I'll stop saying the same thing every post I swear)

Bram holds his spell seeing the one remaining vegepygmy become a pincushion thanks to Etna. He says, instead, "Didn't I see more of them down that way?" He points down the eastern corridor.

I continue walking along the ceiling and use my bonus action to dash to the right. I knock an arrow and loose it at the far enemy.

Ducking past the others, Merriweather sprints down the hallway (ceilingway?) and catches up with the pygmy leader just as it ducks around the corner. Coming to a halt and taking aim, the arrow flies into the back of its head, sending it sprawling to the floor, where it lays still. The remaining dog thing, severely wounded and burned, turns to flee north as well.

Cædwyn's not nearly done raging yet so he's going to sprint after the dog thing. (Can I get into melee range this round? If not I'll just get as close as my 40 movement speed allows)
Apr 22, 2019 4:48 pm
Caedwyn
The thorny is dashing away at full speed, so you would not be able to catch it with just your speed. However, Etna and Hraefn have actions before you, so depending on that outcome it might be slowed down.

Bram speaks to the others in the corridor around him, "I suspect that the one who ran to the east was seeking reinforcements. We had best follow and make sure there are no others to deal with. The rest of us will move slowly while someone deals with that dog that crawled north."

Hraefn sent another ball of flame at the dog-like plant for good measure and it tried to flee. Otherwise it'll heal up and come back for them again.

A grin splits Etna's face as the creature - battered, bruised and a little but burnt - turns tail. Like the crack of a whip, two arrows are strung and she sends them flying forth.

Hraefn, Etna
As the creature turns to run, you both launch your attacks. The arrows strike first, but as the beast falls, it erupts into a small campfire as the druid magic engulfs if.
