As you all react to the golem before you, the entire cell block becomes filled with a similar gas that was used in your earlier encounter with them. A nauseating smell exudes from it, and though you all try to cover your faces and avoid breathing in, you are too late. Einar feels a bit light-headed, as do Hraefn and Sonja, but you all manage to shake off the drowsing effects of the smoke.

Not so fortunate are Graxif, Gothred and Bram, who all succumb to the sleep-effect of the gas. Einar growls at the golem, teeth smiling in a snarl at having overcome the effects of its attack, only to be doused with a clear liquid. Your chest tightens, followed by your arms, legs and finally your face, which stays in a half-smile, half-snarl contorted mask as you find yourself paralyzed in place.

"Cease attempted escape. Return to containment. Interrogation pending arrival of commandant." the creature squawks out at the lone survivors, Hraefn and Sonja.
OOC:
Gothred was down before his action, so you still have all of your slots remaining

Apparently I missed the con save, I'm afraid to ask what that gas is since that combat round was so amazing for me. I hope it's sleep gas 'coz I'm immune!
OOC:
Actually, the sleep immunity is for magical sleep, not mundane things like a sleep gas
OOC:
You're a cruel man, that was a 66 damage round!

Grax slumps to the floor. Fortunately for him the fall isn't too far. He begins to snore gently.

The golem sleep gas was as potent as Hraefn remembered it to be, knocking out half the team this time. Although he was reluctant, Hraefn decided to use the weapon they had found earlier. Perhaps using their own weapons against them would prove more efficacious. He pulled it out and adjusted its settings as he did earlier, all the while maintaining his earlier heat spell on the golem, fired it, and hoped for the best.

Rolls

Heat Metal (3rd level) - (3d8)

(482) = 14

Blaster Attack - (1d20+2)

(15) + 2 = 17

Blaster damage (3d6+2 radiant, 6d6 necrotic vs CON) - (3d6+2, 6d6)

3d6+2 : (331) + 2 = 9

6d6 : (524522) = 20

OOC:
The blaster only does the 6d6 necrotic. Stupid Beyond makes you select a 'base' weapon to customize your homebrew, but then has no way to overwrite the base weapon damage. In this case, a Laser Pistol does 3d6 radiant... :/

Ah I see, lol. First time I'm seeing how a homebrew weapon is given stats on Beyond.

As pointed out by Hraefn, you all do have a d8 inspiration point to spend, so I assume Gothred would spend it here to pass his save. You would need just a 1 to do so. That said, here is the modified version of my original post.
As you all react to the golem before you, the entire cell block becomes filled with a similar gas that was used in your earlier encounter with them. A nauseating smell exudes from it, and though you all try to cover your faces and avoid breathing in, you are too late. Einar feels a bit light-headed, as do Hraefn, Gothred and Sonja, but you all manage to shake off the drowsing effects of the smoke.

Not so fortunate is Graxif, who succumbs to the sleep-effect of the gas.

Interrogation pending arrival of commandant." the creature squawks out at the survivors, Hraefn, Gothred, Bram and Sonja.

Shaking off the effects, the Geoff paladin charges the golem, his long sword bursting into light as he strikes down on the thing. The first blow cleaves deeply into the metal, and he yanks the blade out to finish the job, but the lighting-fast tentacled arms of the alien creature manage to deflect the blow away.
OOC:
For game purposes, a CRIT is automatic double of your damage, so you don't need to edit and add more rolls. That said, your first strike is a critical: 8 for the blow, 12 for the Hunter's Mark and 30 for your smite: a total of 50 damage to the golem. Second blow misses.

Hraefn pointed out that Caedwyn had a d8 inspiration die before the retcon. I hadn't realized it at the time so I'm hoping you rule in favor of letting me use it for that con save!

Rolls

Inspiration die to save against sleep gas - (1d8)

(4) = 4

Jul 24, 2019 1:39 am
Seeing Gothred cleave through the metal of the golem so easily, Hraefn notes that the protective shield around the thing is gone, and brings the alien weapon found earlier to bear. Twisting the knob atop the thing, you manage to get the criss-crossing lines to intersect on it and you press the trigger button. A burst of white-hot light erupts from it and smashes into the golem, blasting away the entire front of its armor, exposing the strange and alien interior. Moving levers, flashing lights and sparking electric-blue energy erupt from it as it begins squawking in earnest.

"Immediate assistance required! Immediate assistance required! Return to head quarters! Containment breach imminent! Cease hostile activities! return to containment pending inquiry!" it repeats loudly, over and over.

From one of the weird boxes on a nearby table, a red light begins to flash bright and dim in alternating waves. A buzzing sound accompanies it, and you realize that you have heard this sound before.
OOC:
Golem is up! Spell-check activated! :/

Actually, Sonja posted it before the combat started... I had forgotten as well. Note that I corrected your damage as well. You only double dice, so your damage is 8 + 12 + 30 = 50

We have just started round 2, and the golem is up.

Sonja
Bram

Severely wounded, with its outer shell emaciated by Hraefn and Gothred, the golem refuses to submit and battles on. Yet another of the small canisters appears and launches into the cell block, this time exploding in a concussive blast of energy that slams into you like a wave of thunder. As it does, it once again sprays a clear liquid from an exposed nozzle, this time aiming at Gothred.

The liquid hits the paladin fully in the face, splattering down around your arms and legs and you immediately begin to feel the numbness cover you.
OOC:
Everyone make a DC14 DEX save versus the concussion grenade. Gothred also needs an additional DC14 DEX save to reduce the paralysis effect.

Rolls

Golem Attack on Gothred - (1d20+8)

(16) + 8 = 24

Concussion Grenade Damage - (1d8+2)

(6) + 2 = 8

Concussion Deafness Time - (1d4)

(3) = 3

Concussion Stunned Time - (1d4)

(1) = 1

Paralysis Spray Time - (2d6)

(41) = 5

I'm assuming that Grax can't make a save because he's asleep? Or is the grenade loud enough to wake him up? :)
