Arrival at Nurok

OOC:
Dammit, last I checked before I went to bed we were still fighting troll! XD
Hraefn was glad to see Etna's arrow felled the huge beast. He kept the wolves on lookout a while longer, instructing them to search the nearby area for any other possible dangers while the rest of the party tended to themselves. Bram and Caedwyn were already disposing of the corpse, and Ilwyn had brought Merriweather back from death's door. Still next to the recovering form of the rogue, Hraefn produced his pouch of healing berries. "I trust these will suffice as my contribution to your share of treasure for now," the druid smiled.
OOC:
Made a 40 Goodberry stash last night, so 40hp.
Turning then to Caedwyn, "That needs tending too as well." The troll did seem to knock the wind completely out of the knight. After Ilwyn had said her holy words, Hraefn, within what looked like a token of lavender, directed a soft glow towards the nobleman, suffusing his entire body with the light.
OOC:
Lesser Restoration, to fix the Dex penalty.
Quietly, to himself, he whispered a prayer of thanks to the wolves that had given their lives. Fey conjured they might have been, but nature had provided, and the circle of life must be respected. He looked in the direction of the paladin appreciatively, both for her healing, and for her humble and gentle words of encouragement, and resolved privately to look out for her needs as well.

Finally, in response to Caedwyn's optimism regarding treasure, "Even if the creature's lair is underwater, I shall be able to assist in searching it," and waited for everyone to concur.

Thank you for the berries. I feel only a handful are needed.

OOC:
Leftover berries to Caedwyn then.
The druid made sure that Caedwyn was also fully healed from his wounds.

I sincerely thank the Druid, "Outstanding. Thank you sir.", looking down at myself I say, "I fear I am better off than my armor though, and I'm dire need of a bath."

His healing tasks done, and as the others tended to themselves, Hraefn pondered on the nature of Merriweather's condition more deeply. The need for stronger restorative magic was beyond his own ability. As he mulled over this conundrum, Hraefn, ever helpful, decided to follow through on his offer to search the sunken cave. While they had seen him as an eagle or wolf, they had yet to see him in the shape he was about to take next.

"If everyone is reasonably well, I shall search the troll's lair. If I encounter danger I shall return to alert everyone." With that, the human form of the druid morphed into an octopus, which slid effortlessly into the swamp water, in the direction of where the troll had appeared from.
OOC:
Casting Guidance on self before Wildshaping into a giant octopus. Swimming and searching the sunken cave. Eight arms to carry everything he finds!

Sinking into the fetid water, you make your way down into the troll cave. The outer opening is full of choking weeds and tree roots, but it is plenty large enough for you to enter. You angle downward for a long distance, perhaps 40 feet or so, before rising back upward. Eventually, you pop through the surface into a small cavern beneath the swampy river above. It is pretty small, given the size of the troll, merely 20 feet around and perhaps 10 feet high, but the smell immediately assaults your senses.

Death. And plenty of it. A large mound of refuse that looks like a makeshift bed area dominates the far wall, and bones, half-eaten creatures (some human, some not) are tossed about like decorations in some hideous torture chamber. In the bed area you see several objects lying strewn about, including what appear to be small flasks, coins and gems.

Hraefn remained in his octopus form as he poked about the refuse, the stench of which was overpowering even for his octopus senses. He looked for items that might seem handy to his companions, bits of equipment or rings. Bram would have been useful here, with his arcane skills in detecting magically useful equipment. He also tossed the refuse around somewhat to see if there were things hidden below. Finally he gathered all the flasks, and as many gems, then coins as his suction cups could hold, before making the journey back out to the surface, and strewing everything at the water edge in front of the others.
OOC:
Searching as described. Will carry out everything he can in order of perceived value, most valuable first (Perception and Investigation checks for that). If need be, Hraefn will bring a bag the next round.

Digging into the refuse, you find a myriad of items, including eight gems of various types, but all seemingly valuable. From your experience, each one could fetch upwards of 1000 coins. In addition to that, you find three potion vials, a dented and scratched by fully usable helmet with hundreds of strange markings on it (some in languages you can understand, some not) and a bone scroll case in pretty poor condition (but still sealed).

Lastly, as you gather this things together (the helmet making a fine carrying container), you find a leather bag soaked with pond scum and troll feces. Peering in, your eyes light up as it is filled with thousands of coins; much more coin that the bag appears possible to hold.

Make an insight check, please

Once Hraefn has completed his treasure hauling Bram will cast a first level detection spell to determine if anything is magical. As the spell is cast he says to all those gathered around, "Please step back. I don't want to have anything any of you are carrying throwing off the spell."

After the spell is completely cast and Bram notices a frown on Ilwyn's face says to those nearby, "If anyone is within 30' of me or the haul, I could be reading anything magical that you're carrying or that you have a spell cast on you. If you're sure you are not ensorcelled and can leave behind any magical items you're carrying, feel free to come and look at what is here." He then turns back to concentrating on the items on the ground before him.

I prefer to keep my magic on me, but if anyone would care to keep me informed I would be appreciative.
Jan 19, 2019 6:13 am
Hraefn stayed in the swamp water a little longer even as the others examined the items he brought up, understanding that he needed his magic radiating form, and the glowing stone circling his head, away from Bram's magic.

Ilwyn stepped back out of the radius. "Worry not. Simply tell us what you find - You would be the expert in such a field, after all." Instead, she walked over to Merri to check on him.

"I know a man who may be able to help with your injuries," She said. "If my memory serves, I'm certain he retired to Tycha. We can head there on the way to have you healed. I will pay what I can of any cost, by way of apology."

Aye, I accept the apology but as pocket pinching as I am, I cannot accept another paying for my battle wounds. It’s a point of pride, surely you understand.
