"Perhaps party healing can be paid from the sum total of the spoils gained; after all the injuries were sustained in the joint process of gaining these spoils." Hraefn, again, voicing the mediating opinion.

Cædwyn grimances, "Err, or from his cut perhaps?" He shrugs, "I say leave it to Lady Ilwyn to decide. As a paladin she is perhaps the most just among us and has no desire for riches it would seem."
Jan 19, 2019 11:07 pm
Ilwyn sighs and shakes her head, but simply makes a knowing smile in Cædwyn's direction. "If Merri is unable to afford for any reason, I shall gladly put my money forward. Besides, I have some to spare, it seems, as Lady Etna stole our bet from under us." She chuckles and looks over to Hraefn. "On that note, have we collected our spoils? If so - Lord Eigendrast, if you'd be so kind as to give me a hand collecting a proof from the beast - we should be off. Drinks and merriment all around, I think."

"I believe our esteemed wizard will have an answer for us any moment now." And then, a bit more concernedly, "I recall the healing required for Merriweather might require some very specific ingredients. We shall have to see."

Casting your spell, you concentrate on the spoils laid out in front of you. As the dweomer settles across the pile, you begin to detect the telltale signs of the arcane. Dim at first, as the last words of the incantation pass your lips, several of the items emit magical energy. As expected, the vials all contain magical potions, and the scroll tube contains something magical within. Of more interest, however, is the strong energy coming from the old helmet and leather backpack holding the coins.

"OK, people. I've got some readings. The vials and scroll are magical as are the helmet and the backpack. I'll need a little more time to determine any further detail." Gram separates all the magical items (without taking the gold out of the backpack) and focuses on each one individually to see if he can discern any further detail.

Continuing with Detect magic? Or are you going to take the time with Identify?

"Ah! Here's something interesting," says Bram as he focuses on the backpack. "The backpack shows one kind of magic but there is another kind inside. Shall I open it up and try to identify some things in more detail?"
Jan 20, 2019 7:55 pm
"Of course, Ser Bram! Enchanted spoils are all fun and games until someone puts something on and explodes. Safety first." Ilwyn says, a little more joyously than the phrase might entail.

Bram nods to Ilwyn and lifts the backpack a few inches and carefully shakes out the items inside. As the others look over what is inside Bram moves to the helmet and takes a closer look.

As you dump out the contents of the backpack, coins begin to fall out. And fall out. And fall out, almost as if it were never going to stop. It does stop, however, and when all of the contents have been expelled, you see a pile of 400 platinum and 2200 gold coins along with a quiver of 10 arrows.

Cædwyn goes to the troll corpse and pulls a few more of the charred teeth for use as evidence, thinking that they're at least unlikely to grow into an entire new troll while in his belt pouch.

"Yes, Merri, they are, although I cannot tell you exactly what magic it is. Are you an archer of note? I would think these should go to whoever is the best archer among us."
Jan 22, 2019 8:07 am
I am an archer. That’s why I was in such a bad spot once the troll got so close.

"And lady Etna shot the killing arrow that felled the beast. Thankfully 10 arrows are divisible by two." Hraefn said with a twinkle in his eye.
Jan 22, 2019 12:47 pm
"Fret not Hraefn," Etna turns to the druid with a smile, catching his almost mischeivious expression. A little more severely, she adds, "Merriweather is right. He might not be in such a state had we such arrows earlier. If nothing else, you may consider them repayment for my part in leading you here."

Etna May have felled the beast, but I was the first to damage the monster. Depending on their enchantment, I’m more than willing to share.
