Yeah I think we'd have to kill Julian, or the BBEG will save him last minute and he'll reappear as the second last NPC boss for us to beat.

Ugh... He's not even built to be good at combat. He'd just annoy the hell out of us with that helm and his divination... Maybe summon a devil or two but that's it. XD

The entity was a lesser god names Syrul. Had you let her in, she would have attempted to dominate you and send you off to do her bidding.... which may or may not have been in line with what the party wants to do....

I'm under the impression that the nature of the spell and contact compels both answers and honesty. I could be wrong, sure, but I don't really see the point in the spell if it's usually just going to be false information.

There was an idea I had, that I never got around to asking the DM about, about flavoring "Contact Other Plane" as a ritual that forces Julian into something he calls "The Dreamsleep", a sleep-like trance that allows his conscious mind to gleam information about the past/present/future by connecting to the manifestation of the collective consciousness of all living things that ever were, are, or will be. Functionally, it'd work the same, but flavorfully I like it, and I think it makes the name "Dreamseer" fit him better.

In the case of Syrul, while she is the goddess of deceit, that does not mean she has to lie. In fact, if it gains the favor of the one who contacted her, and she builds a rapport and trust with the caller, the easier it would be to deceive and corrupt/control them.

So she had no reason to lie... maybe not tell all she knows, but enough to answer and leave the caller wanting for more...

In order to bring back the original flavor of this adventure, I decided to invest in some high-resolution maps that follow the original steading layout. To that end, have a look at the ATG Maps forum to see the updates. The previous version was close, but this new version is exactly the same, and is made for online play / poster map printing.

It will not effect your current thread, as you are not in the steading, but if you look you will see a few differences.
