Zangua checks his pockets. "Don't suppose Fjorgyn thought to leave you with six keys?"

"Fjorgyn merely lights the way, it is up to us to open the doors," Felor explains as he inspects the "keyholes".

"Perhaps we need to knock," Domarc muses. "Or a thrush. I recall some old story about a thrush knocking on a secret door..."

Mordred attempts to put his knowledge of locks and lockpicking to use in examining the holes.
Not sure how to roll for this. If Mordred can use his Thieves' Tools to poke around in there, that's ideal, otherwise I guess Investigate?

Rolls
Thieves' Tools - (1d20+9)
(4) + 9 = 13
Investigate - (1d20+1)
(2) + 1 = 3

If you were going to poke around in a hole, Mordred, which one would it be, assuming a numbering system where the hole furthest to Mordred's left is #1? Just out of curiosity

That sounds like a cool and fun question for the GM to ask. In honor of the Six-Pointed Crown, Mordred will start with #6, all the way to the right.

Mordred peers into the sixth hole. It seems to narrow as it extends into the rock, terminating perhaps six or seven inches deep.
Mordred probes it with his longest, thinnest lockpick. When he has inserted the pick about as far as he can get it, something strange occurs. Mordred feels as though something briefly grabbed the end of the pick and tugged it forward, then let go.

Mordred explains the situation to the rest of the party, and examines the first hole on the left similarly.

"What, like someone's on the other side?" Zangua asks. "If that's the case, why don't we just knock?"

Mordred sticks the pick into the first hole, all the way to his left. Once again, he feels the fleeting grab-and-pull sensation.

"Not someone, I don't think, but some sort of mechanism. Perhaps if we all whittled little wands with a hook on the end and inserted all 6 of them at the same time..." Mordred looks about for suitable sticks to carve.

I'm envisioning carving them into a drumstick (music, not chicken) shape - a tapering stick with a little knob at the end. Just waiting to see if anyone else is on board. We will need at least three of us to insert the sticks (assuming one person can reach two holes). This is all getting very awkward to talk about.

"So I just stick these into two of the holes?" Zangua asks by means of confirmation, trying to position himself to reach two at the same time.

Once carved, Mordred cues the rest of the party. "On the count of three. One... two... three."
