Or that works. You should have added 1 green, 1 blue, and 2 more setback dice, though... Maybe Kirk can update a roll with that.

Oh shit, im pretty new to t he FFG system tbh, i have a super basic understanding of it, but i assumed you wanted me to look at something else while someone else made the check on the box to determine what happened here.
Mar 19, 2019 6:48 pm
OOC:
Nah, but it's ok. Kirk had said he wanted a single check from the group using the best stat combined with the highest ranks plus additional boost die available for assistance and creative explanations. Still, we'll see what we get with that, heh.

Tinys light flickers back to life, and he scans up and down the tower, rifle in his hands.

2 Success 4 Threat
OOC:
He specifically is looking for someone on the tower. That's not the roll we're looking for. We're looking for a perception check to find out what happend to the comm tower, and why it's damaged.

Given the narrowness of the tower, it should have been an Easy check, with 3 setback die.

I'll re-roll that check
Tiny scans the tower with his specialized optics. There's no one hiding. There's not even any heat signatures. The tower is cold and there hasn't been anyone in the area recently. The surrounding area is all the same temperature, and given his calculations, if a warm blooded individual was on or around the tower it would take approximately 5.2689531 hours for the temperature to normalize with the surrounding environment (given a standard deviation of the current delta Q of temperature of course). Therefore there exists a 99.126 percent probability that you are completely alone standing next to the tower, and the greatest threat to your welfare would be the current environmental conditions.
OOC:
Tiny takes another strain
Still looking for the perception check to determine what is wrong with the tower before you can head in out of the cold.

Rolls

Tiny Checks the tower (and surrounding area) for enemies hiding

1 Success, 2 Advantage, 1 Triumph, 3 Threat

Total: 1 Success, 1 Threat, 1 Triumph

With Tiny looking over the tower, Mo turns his attention to the equipment. Here's no repairman, but maybe he can see what's up...

Rolls

Perception check to see what's going on...

2 Success, 3 Advantage, 2 Failure, 2 Threat

"Snowballs I could do but I'm not sure if this stuff is wet enough to compress. See how softly it's building up? Maybe a couple of blasts from my pistol will do the trick or is that too hardball?" Armitage moves away from the structure a couple of steps and pulls out his blaster pistol.

OOC:
I mean, you can if you want to. I misunderstood a bit of what Kirk was laying before us. I thought we were a ways back still looking upwards at the comm tower, not literally right there starting to check out the equipment. Hence why I was still in the "looking for bad guys" mentality. But hey, these things happen. If you can think of clever things to do that might add a boost die to my roll for checking out the gear, feel free to pile in, heh. Could use a success, heh.

The party surveys the tower and associated equipment and can't tell what's wrong with it. It's obvious that one of the crates is heavily damaged, maybe by an impact of some sort, but nobody can quite figure out what kind of impact or where it came from. It's bent inward, there are scratches and marks to the container.

Nobody can tell if this damage is the cause of the outage or if it's completely unrelated. You'll need someone else to come out and make a more professional determination under better conditions. You photograph and scan the area with your datapads for your report.

While it was not a successful trip, Mo feels better knowing that they have a scan and pictures to take back to command, so he removes 1 strain.
OOC:
If there is anything else you'd like to do before heading back inside, now is your chance.

Tiny keeps looking up into the tower.

"Assessment: It would be silly for a saboteur to try and flee to far in this weather without a vehicle, but we would have been notified of the vehicles ion signature before leaving, if they had seen one."

Tinys left hand meets the "chin" of his head, and he scratches along it with a metallic scrape. He had seen someone do this before, and thought it portrayed thoughtfulness and wisdom, and has done it whenever making a serious deduction or assessment ever since.

He will once again check that there is a round chambered in his rifle, before looking back down the hill.

"Joke: We should have brought skis"
Mar 21, 2019 6:16 pm
The party heads back down the mountain.

Following in the path they took coming up is easy, there is a noticeable trench from the four of them leading down the ridgeline back to the hatch. They travel quickly, and it seems to take less time to travel back, than it did to travel up the ridge.

Once they approach the hatch Maldan reaches it first and opens the hatch. The fresh fallen snow slides off the door and piles up near the hinge. The wet door shines in the light of Tiny's beam.

The party climbs down the ladder, comfortably following each other down in quick succession, followed by Tiny, who keeps the ladder illuminated. With each heavy footfall on the ladder on the way down snow and ice fall to the floor below adding to the already messy dirty ambiance.

The blue lit room with coats surrounding the walls and the ladder in the center seems both brighter and warmer than it did before you left. Perhaps it's the contrast from the outside temperature, but the base feels more lively. At the end of the maintenance shaft that leads into the well lit hallway, you see recruits and cadets and officers walking by frequently. Some holding food, some holding datapads, and others walking together talking. It's obvious the morning is in full swing.

As you doff your jackets and boots a rebel junior officer turns from the hallway down your maintenance shaft.
Mar 21, 2019 6:17 pm
Good morning recruits. He says with a bored smile.

How'd it go out there? Lieutenant Dreven would like a full report.

He stands before you making a note on his datapad, as he waits for the details of the communications tower
Mar 21, 2019 7:17 pm
"We were lucky. I didn't have to reattach any limbs or patch up any holes." Armitage shakes the remaining snow of his parka and boots and removes them. 'might have to wait out the storm before we can do anything about the damage but there was quite a bit of it.
Mar 21, 2019 7:20 pm
Tapping on his data pad he responds What was the extent of the damage?
Mar 21, 2019 9:19 pm
" The tower itself seemed intact. There was no obvious signs of sabotage, but with none of us being trained mechanics, it all looked like circuits and wires, um, sir. One of late containers that, presumably, housed some of the comms equipment was pretty heavily damaged. It had been smashed in like something had been slammed against it and there were scratches and marks all over it, no idea what could have caused them. Whatever did it, though, was probably fairly strong, that thing was a mess. Uh, sir. Oh, yeah, almost forgot. I didn't see any signs of blood, though to be fair I wasn't looking that closely for it .." Mo said edith his eyes closed, trying to sum up what he remembered of the scene as best he could. Of course, remembering that he had to call this guy sir became a, well, secondary concern compared to recalling the scene. Satisfied her had the pertinent details right, he opened his eyes back up stood easily, one hand resting casually on his blaster belt.
Mar 21, 2019 10:21 pm
"I thought we were to report to the Lieutenant. Or are you going to send our report to him?" Armitage asks the Rebel Officer. "My best guess from what we could see was that it was an animal. A really big one. Probably looking for food. Didn't look like it was able to penetrate though, but I didn't see everything. Did anyone see any other damage?"
Mar 22, 2019 4:16 am
An animal huh? His mouth turns to a slight grin as he enters the info into his datapad. You sure about that?

Did you see any footprints or tracks nearby? Did anyone get any pictures?
OOC:
I'm gunna need a deception roll for that Doc
Mar 22, 2019 7:27 am
"Statement: I saw everything. Surely youre technicians can download my visual memory banks of the excursion"

Tiny chims in, tapping his head.

"Addendum: Ignore the climb to the tower. I had a slight misstep"
Mar 22, 2019 6:06 pm
OOC:
Here's your roll
Armitage, pauses for a moment, wondering if the story is believable. Lying to a rebel officer is a stressful situation.
OOC:
Take 1 strain.

Rolls

Armitage trys to convince the officer it was an animal

3 Success, 1 Advantage, 2 Failure, 2 Threat

Total: 1 Success, 1 Threat

Mar 22, 2019 6:12 pm
These logs should be fine. He acknowledges the data transmission from Tiny by tapping on the datapad. As the transmission bar loads across the screen. The officer squints and looks to the side.

An animal did this? I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see the pictures. I thought there were't any here.

Oh! It says here you are to report to the briefing room at zero seven hundred for your first assignment. he continues tapping without looking up and making eye contact.
It's almost half past eight, you're quite tardy for your first day. Not even his contempt breaks his attention to the datapad.
I can show you how to get there. Follow me. A small smile flashes across his face as he finally glances up and looks at the party before an abrupt about-face points him down the maintenance hall walking away.

You're not sure if he's just being unusually helpful, or if he's anticipating getting to view recruits being grilled on the first day for being late. Whatever the motive, he leads you down the hallway.

As you follow the officer out the maintenance shaft into the main hall way, you notice the eyes of the other recruits and officers as you walk past them in the hallway. They seem fresh, vibrant and full of energy, in stark contrast to the lumbering exhaustion that you find yourself in.

The officer leads you into a command and control room.

The room is mostly round, with a ceiling of about 15 feet. Several large holocronic projection tubes protrude out of the ceiling in the center, hanging over a white and blue circular projection table which is obviously the main focus of the room. Around the periphery are computer terminals and workstations that are mostly occupied with officers and technicians performing operations.

Just beyond the projection table is a rocky structure that connects the floor to the ceiling with a grey blue icy rock. Large black cables and wires are bundled together and run up the side of the outcropping until disappearing behind the insulation above.

Just beyond the outcropping are several glass boards illuminated with different tactical information scrawled on both sides while officers huddle around them in small groups discussing strategy.

Among the huddled leaders you can easily see the large officer that roused you out of bed this morning. He stands slightly hunched over, with one arm folded across his chest, while the other arm strokes his chin as he listens to one of the officers. His brow furled and eyes fixed on the tactical glass board.

Your escort notices your interest and chimes in with a smirk You remember Lieutenant Dreven from this morning right? As he leads you around the projector table he raises his finger in the air to get the Lieutenants attention.

LIEUTENANT! he raises his voice to be heard across the room.

The Lieutenant's eyes dart from the glass board to the junior officer calling to him, but otherwise remains in his brow furled stance. His lack of excitement tempers the junior officer's tone.

Sir, this is the team that was out- his sentence is interrupted
Mar 22, 2019 6:18 pm
-Out checking the relay. A woman dressed in a white robe says interrupting the officer. Stopping him in his tracks

She gracefully meets the party before they are led around it by the junior officer. White gown flowing to the floor, perfect posture, she serenely approaches.

EPISODE 1: Making New Friends

Yes of course. How delighted I am to meet you all. I am Mon Mithrania Commander of this base, welcome. she gestures to the party in a sincere calm demeanor, smiling like the queen of a small country.

Thank you Corporal for bringing them here, I believe the Lieutenant word like to speak with you She gestures back towards Lt. Dreven as the junior officers shoulders slacken and his posture droops like a bearer of bad news. He shuffles past the Commander and towards the back of the room.

Turning her attention back to the party she says Thank you for choosing to join us. I know the road to freedom from tyranny is a long and difficult path. But each of you have showed remarkable talent and determination to resist evil, and strive for a better galaxy. One of peace and tranquility. Her eyes gaze off into the distance, as if she were looking on that idyllic peaceful galaxy from a distant view. A silent moment passes before she starts speaking again.

I know you are weary from your journey to the communications relay. But unfortunately we have an urgent task that must be taken. It is our custom to have new recruits participate in a two day orientation to our facility before being sent on a mission, but time is of the essence. So I will attempt to be brief. She turns toward the projection table and makes a slight gentle hand gesture. A projection of a planet fades into view.

This is Kriselest II. The second moon of the icy planet Kriselest. Rebel governance has chosen to build a starfighter outpost here due to its proximity to the Corellian Trade Spine Hyperdrive route. Our presence here is near enough to facilitate frequent efforts of espionage and insurgency against the empire's core systems, while simultaneously remaining in an overlooked barren system in plain sight.

As the icy moon rotates in mid air above the projector table she points to a non-discript section of the sphere and it stops moving. Here is out base an orange wire outline expands from the surface. we are connected to the alliance by only a single communications relay [b] A green tower is added atop the orange wire box as she speaks. [b] This is to reduce our transmission signature in the region, and remain undetected. As you are aware, the tower went down last night and we have been unable to receive any new information from the Alliance. Their last orders included sending a delegation to the planet Agribba to garner rebel support in the Devaron system

The projection table changes images to a lush green agricultural planet.

There was more information in the transmission, but it was lost and unrecoverable.

Our goal at this juncture is to send your team to meet with the leaders of Agribba to convince them to join the rebellion.

The importance of including Agribba in the Rebellion is to increase resistance in the region and to support the alliance with Agribba's abundant exports in Agriculture and food supplies.

Agribba is ruled by a committee of 3 councilmembers. They must have a majority vote to join the Rebellion.

Convince them to join the Rebellion for the betterment of the galaxy.
she turns from the projector to make eye contact with the party.

Are there any inquiries? she slightly tips her head to the side anticipating questions.
