Episode 0 A rude Awakening

"ON YOUR FEET!"

The shout wakes you out of deep sleep as your eyes pop open revealing a tall broad shouldered rebel leader standing in the doorway of the berthing area. His large human stature blocks your view of the hallway behind him. The bright white lights over the bunk beds snap on, a stark contrast to the peaceful dim light and gentle rest you were enjoying.

You scramble out of your bunks and stand in the single empty ilse. The cold floor on your feet and the still air tells you that morning is still hours away, and something is wrong.

"Where's his bunk?" The officer storms into the room, ignoring the line of recruits standing at a hasty sleepy attention. Making his way to an empty bed with no recruit standing next to it.

Through the glare of the bright lights you see an empty bed, sheets thrown back, footlocker ajar and a missing recruit. You're startled and confused. You all went to sleep at the same time, where could he have gone in the middle of the night?

The officer bends down to inspect the open footlocker, digging in it briefly by tossing some spare clothing aside and out of the trunk.

"There's nothing here." He says curtly, addressing the 3 other junior officers still waiting sheepishly at the door, unsure weather to enter or stay outside. All markedly afraid at the large officer's interaction with them.

"Take it. Take all of it." As he gestures around the empty bunk and footlocker. The 3 other officer scurry into the room and quickly start to pile the loose articles of clothing and bedding into the footlocker.

"Does anyone know where this man is?" He addresses the room in a loud, calm , authoritative voice while pointing to the empty bed.

The room remains deathly quiet as the remains of the bunk are packed up.

".....nobody? Fine." He turns towards one of the female officers standing just outside the door. "Who'd he come in with?"

The officer shuffles to her second data pad and swipes quickly on it, feeling all the eyes of the room on her.

"Togen, Armitage, T1 dash N33, and Ama-Ama-ran-tha, Lieutenant " she snaps to a quasi form of attention, pleased in her quick response to the question.

The Lieutenant's eyes scan the room, looking at the party. His eyes come to rest on Tiny.

"Well, they're still here. They're either genuine, or stupid." His voice hints at moment of humor, and the seriousness of the room lightens for the briefest moment.

"You four, follow me." He motions with his hand a following gesture as he begins to walk out of the room. Your eyes dart back and forth at each other, unsure weather to get dressed first or go in your sleeping attire. As if he has eyes in the back of his head he barks "NOW, please. Leave your gear."

You shuffle into a line and follow the Lieutenant out the door into the hallway. Your eyes try to meet the officer's standing outside the door, but she looks down at her data pad anxiously averting her eyes so as not to make contact.

The Lieutenant walks you down the narrow well lit hallway. Only wide enough for about two men shoulder abreast, the white insulation panels on the walls and ceiling keeping out the bitter icy environment of the rocky moon's interior. You pass numerous closed doors, mostly to other sleeping areas, some to maintenance closets.

After about 30 yards a door on the left opens abruptly and 2 base security guards enter the halway just in front of the Lieutenant.

"Put 'em in there." He says, as he points to the open door without even turning to look back at the party as he walks away down the hall. The 2 security guards usher the party into the room.

The door shuts swiftly behind you and you hear it clank loudly, locking you in. [Daunting]

The room is a 10 x 12 metal box with a large window on the right that appears to be a 1 way mirror. There are 2 metal chairs bolted to the floor with their backs against the left wall, as if two people are to sit and look iinto the mirror together. You see an old drink distribution station affixed in the wall that hasn't been cleaned in ages. Paper cups are stacked upside down nearby. On the wall with the mirror, you see a metal speaker box, for use communicating with someone on the other side. The overhead lighting is covered by a metal screen.

It's clearly not a jail cell, but definitely a secure waiting room. The four of you stand in the room, looking at yourselves in the the reflection. Tired, confused, mildly cold.

The party takes 1 strain for not getting a full nights sleep, and 1 strain for being in the cold room in only your sleep wear.
Mar 11, 2019 8:19 am
OOC:
Do i still suffer the strain, as i dont have sleepwear, being a droid, and i probably dont feel the cold?
T1 stands precariously close to the door that slams shut behind the group, knocking on it several times with a metalic clank.

"Query: Why are we locked here?" he asks the group.

He begins to circle around until he reaches the glass of the two way mirror, pausing before knocking on it. He cocks a fist backwards, and looks towards Mo.

"Observation: This section of the wall has glass. Potentially leading somewhere other than this room. Should i facilitate an escape plan?"
Mar 11, 2019 2:52 pm
The glass will be a [Hard] difficulty with an upgraded die from the wire mesh embedded inside it.
OOC:
If your character is not affected by the cold, no strain is taken.
Mar 11, 2019 3:05 pm
Tiny will hold off until he gets the signal from Mo that it is okay. He doesnt want to go causing more trouble for the two of them, or really any of their friends.

He will stand near the glass though, looking at it while trying to figure out why his new friends would place him in a locked room, with no warning. He also tries to remember if he saw anything last night while recharging his power cells.
OOC:
can i make a Vigilance check to see if i happend to remember anything about last night. T1 was in his recharging port most of the night for routine maintenance, but maybe he saw the missing fellow.
Mar 11, 2019 3:16 pm
OOC:
I have a similar question, though mine pertains only to the cold room aspect. Pantorans are Tundra Dwellers, meaning I remove setbacks due to cold since, well, we live in cold environments, so I was wondering if I would not take that strain. My second question is, the recruit that was missing was said to have come in with us. Do I know anything about them? I'll respond as though I don't.
Utterly confused by the situation, Mo follows along with the others, doing a decent semblance of a military march. Even after all the training and such they've been through, he still wasn't quite up to the rigidity that a lot of the others had down. Once in the 10x12 room, he looks around, pleased by the pleasant chill in the room as most human rooms were a little warmer than he preferred. In response to Tiny's statements Mo immediately raises his hands in a calming manner as he says, "No, no. Calm down, Tiny. I'm sure they're just curious about how that guy got out. And yeah, that window probably is a one-way mirror. But we don't need to worry about escape. We'll just answer their questions and then it'll be over. Have a seat for now."

Sticking true to his word, he wanders over to one of the chairs and has a seat.

A tone of slight panic overtakes T1's vocal modulator as he stammers, a brief glitch crossing his voice as he practically shouts:

"Got out, why would he escape? or even want to escape?! Oh gods, they think hes an imperial sympathizer! They think We're imperial sympathizers! Or worse! Spies!

Mo is used to Tiny having poor reactions to situations like this. T1 has had glitches since he was activated, but its never been worth the time or credits to get it repaired.

Tiny has begun pacing, his large stature causing other people to have to dodge out of the way to avoid being shoved unintentionally.
Mar 11, 2019 4:13 pm
"Now, now, now. Calm down, Tiny. It'll be alright. They probably don't think we're sympathizers, just want to ask us what we know of him. If they thought we were sympathizers, we'd likely have been shot by now. To prevent any leaks." Mo responds, still relaxing in the chair. As the droid paces the room, he lets his head fall back against the cool metal wall with a sigh as his eyes close. Maybe, if they take long enough, he can catch up on the sleep that was interrupted, but he doesn't think he's that lucky.

Thesers a low distorted buzz before Tiny switches back to normal.

"Query: What if he was a spy, and he is currently broadcasting our location to the empire. I dont want to go back."

Tiny still has his fists clenched, although hes stopped pacing. hes expecting the door to open and a group of Imps to be standing there ready to blast him with a disruptor and take him away.
Mar 11, 2019 7:22 pm
Maldan Togen shivers from the cold. He has gotten little sleep the previous night, and was still drowsy and restless.

"I am unused to these frigid temperatures. A squad of Imperials would almost seem preferable, as it would certainly warm us up at least. Yet I suspect we need not worry, droid. These are most likely standard precautions, considering that we are all strangers to these people, as we are to each other. No, my big worry is for the one who disappeared in the night. If anyone can warn the Imperials of this base's location, he is the most likely culprit."

Maldan looks at his other companions. They look like capable warriors. He hopes that their skill accords with their appearance. It will be nice to be among warriors once more.

David simply stands in a corner with a frown on his face listening to the others. He finally decides to speak up. "I don't know about you guys but I hate the Empire and would be the last one to be a spy. I don't even know why I'm in these barracks with you guys. I told the recruiting officer that I was a physician and could help sew up wounded soldiers. I'm certainly not a soldier myself."
Mar 11, 2019 10:53 pm
Maldan gives the doctor a hearty smile. Well it seems we have some soldiers among us, so I suspect you will be needed here more than you think. Though I hope it doesn't come to that.
Mar 11, 2019 11:10 pm
"I am Designation T1-N33, You may call me T1. Query: Doctor, are you trained in droid services?"

Tiny is growing impatient. He does not enjoy being trapped in a room with this many people, and he feels very out of place.

"Query: What if this is a test? Perhaps we are meant to escape?" His question is clearly directed initially at Mo, but based on his posture, it seems he will accept an answer from any of the people present in the room.

He continues to look towards the window. Logically, someone is behind there watching them. silently judging the group.
Mar 12, 2019 12:31 am
About 15 minutes elapses before the door to the room opens. The large Lieutenant enters the room followed by 2 junior officers carrying your footlockers.

The junior officers set the heavy trunks down on the floor and separate them so that they may be opened. The Lieutenant continues to walk into the room all the way to the other side of the wall, and turns to address the group.

"We’ve got a problem." He states frankly, though it comes as a surprise to no one. The junior officers actually seem more calm than earlier.

"One of our recruits has decided to up-and-leave in the middle of the night." He pauses, waiting for the information to settle in.

"Now ordinarily, this thing has happened a time or two. Recruits get scared, think they have a better life not getting involved, run back home to mommy." He glances around the room.

"..problem is that it usually doesn’t coincide with the base losing our sole communications with the outside world." He places his hands on his hips in a disappointing judgmental stance.

"We searched your trunks, and checked the holocron recordings. We’re pretty sure you lot are just as surprised as we are. Nevertheless, you all arrived on the same transport together, and we had to be thorough"

"That still leaves the issue of the comm tower though. Gold squad is prepping for a big mission today, and I need them tip-top. I’m assigning you to check out the relay, get it back online if you can, or report the damage if it’s sabotage. He nods softly before taking a more quiet, more serious tone.

"Take your weapons with you, we’re not sure if our missing recruit is involved, or if its completely unrelated, be on guard." He takes his hand off his hip and places it on Tiny’s metal shoulder, the only one close enough both in proximity and stature.

"These boys will get you some hats and jackets for the cold out there." He points at the junior officers.

"Ice storm blew in last night…" The Lieutenant begins to walk through the room, and out the door

….helluva first day! His voice trails off as he makes his way down the hall.

After getting situated, the junior officers lead you out of the room down the hall and into a maintenance shaft. The shaft is more narrow than the hallway, and not as well insulated. You can feel the bitter cold of the surrounding rock. The howling wind of the storm can be heard raging overhead.

The middle of the shaft opens up around a ladder that leads upward through a vaulted ceiling of about 10 feet and through a small access hatch. On either side of the ladder there are benches with heavy boots laden with snow and mud tucked orderly underneath. Behind the benches are thick heavy jackets with fur lined collars hanging over staggered knobs. Some still have icy snow clinging to the shoulders. The lighting in the room is a dim blue and it’s hard to see color variations in the clothing and hats under the monochromatic light.

"Take what you need, and make sure it gets put back where you found it." one of the officers shouts over the howling wind.
"Once you get outside, the communications tower is about 200 yards uphill" the other officer says pointing in the direction of the access hatch in the ceiling. "Stay on the ridgeline where this hatch opens up, otherwise you’ll get lost in this storm. Visibility is bad and we won’t get sunlight for two more days."
OOC:
You now have access to all the equipment you had stored. Additionally the clothing hanging on the walls is available for this mission. After the mission the clothing will return to the base.

You're very disappointed with yourself. You just had training the other day about observation and the world around you. How you're supposed to take note of all the details. Now you can't even remember the smallest detail about the guy you came in with. His face just blends into the background and you can't recall it. It's so frustrating, especially now, when it matters.

Tiny looks up the hatch, then to his compatriots who are donning their weather gear. He makes sure his grenades are strapped to his belt, and his force pike is on his back, and with a satisfying "Cla-Clack!" he chambers a round into his slugthrower
Mar 12, 2019 7:31 am
Che Mora stands up as the lieutenant enters the room, he'd gotten enough scoldings during basic about standing at attention for officers despite finding the entire notion ridiculous, and remains standing while the officer talks. Once he begins to explain the situation, he catches Tiny's attention and gives him an "I told you so" sort of look before turning back to listen to the lieutenant. A slight smile spreading on his face at the prospect of stepping outside a bit, to feel a proper chill again would be nice.

Following along with the rest of the group behind the junior officers, he happily straps his gear to his belt and takes a set of the clothing provided. He likes the cold, sure, but he's no Talz to simply wander about essentially naked in the cold, if you can consider their thick fur coats to be naked. As they're all gearing up and getting dressed he continues the conversation from earlier that the Lieutenant had interrupted by addressing the self-proclaimed doctor, "Are you really a doctor? Like a trained physician? That's fantastic. I'm a stick jockey, myself. If it has engines, a breathable atmosphere, and some control surfaces, I can probably fly the damned thing, so my presence repairing some comms equipment makes about as much sense as yours here. But at least we can be extra eyes for those who might be more suited to such repairs.

It does seem somewhat suspicious, however, that the comms should blank out just before whatever it is that this gold squadron is up to today and just after this recruit disappears. Does anyone really remember anything about him? I know that they said he came on the same transport as us, but for the life of me I can't recall a thing about him.

Like your compatriot, you remember nothing. Which doesn't bother you as much as Tiny, but it makes you think. If you can't remember to take note of those around you, what else have you missed? What if you miss something during a startup sequence on a fighter? That could really cause problems. Wait, what if you already had forgotton something and didn't even know it? No... no way... you know your systems... batteries to on, boosters to high, hyperdrive cooling to on...

You continue going through your checklists for starting up several fighters in your head, testing yourself for a deficiency, and finding none. But you are definitely distracted.

Tiny has begun to climb towards the hatch. Upon arrival he realizes that his awkward size will make fitting through this very difficult, but he manages to worm his way through the cramped hole. Once he is out of the hatch he takes his slugthrower off his shoulder, and with the safety on, he takes a knee and begins looking around, scanning the environment to see if there is anything up here of immediate worry.

With the recent thoughts of making sure he didn't forget anything, Mo pulls his custom blaster pistol out, checks the charge on the power pack, checks that the safety is on, and the weapon is set to Stun before slipping it back into the holster hanging low on his right hip. Looking up at the racket that his companion is making clambering up the ladder, he shakes his head with a laugh and says, "Well, well. Someone is a touch eager, no? Well, I can't say as I blame him, you humans keep your houses too warm, nothing like a good snowstorm to get the blood pumping.

Without sealing his environmental suit, though wearing all the pieces otherwise, Mo climbs up the ladder after Tiny and, with a bit more adroitness, emerges into the billowing snow with a sigh of relief. Seeing the droid scanning around with his rifle up and ready, Mo draws his own blaster pistol and begins to look around through the snowy conditions for any sign of trouble, or even the comm tower they're supposed to be finding.

Maldan quietly dons his environmental suit and accompanies the others to their intended destination.

I also find it curious that we are called upon to perform a task that none of us seems ideally suited for. I am a soldier, not a repairman. There may, however, be more afoot that a simple malfunction. And if there is a malicious intend behind this communications failure, then I suspect that we will all be needed before the day is done.
Mar 12, 2019 7:36 pm
"Statement: Not Eager. Suspicious. Not a single engineer in the group and we get sent on a repair job.

Suspicion: The big man knows something we dont, and fears that we will encounter a threat at or near the relay tower.

Affirmation: We are well prepared for the hostile icy environment. We will figure out what happened to the tower.

Tiny continues staring down the site of his rifle, aimimg up the ridgeline towards the location of the relay. If anything is coming, it will come from there.

ref page 226 in AoR core rulebook
Perception- Tracks or anything i see outside the hatch?
Total: 2 Failure, 1 Threat, 1 Triumph

The icy snow is driven almost sideways. You can't even make out the mountain you're standing on, let alone any tracks. If someone left footprints the storm would have wiped them out by now, everything looks native.

What sticks in your circuitry however is the force required to open the hatch. Your left arm servo reported a voltage decrease of 3.72 micro joules of electricity. That corresponds to about 68 newtons of force on the hatch to break the ice around the opening.

Statistically speaking that's more than a human would be able to provide with one arm to an upward hatch while on a ladder in bulky clothing. Your conclusion therefore is that you are alone, and the recruit did not come this way.

Take 1 more strain for your servo joint which seems to be stiffer now after the power spike.

OOC:
In order to reach the comm tower in this storm you'll each need to make a couple of rolls. The first roll will be to make it the first 100 yards, the second roll will be to make it the rest of the way. Advantages can be used to assist your teammates that are struggling by giving 1 blue die per advantage, or recover 1 strain.

You may roll with any of the following skills (pick your highest)
-Coordination [AVE] add 1 setback due to the slippery icy snow
-Perception [EASY] add 1 setback die. (You're looking for "uphill" which is pretty easy to determine while walking, not looking for specific things)
-Resilience [AVE]
-Survival [EASY] (attempting to survive the next leg of the trip, should be easy given the suitable clothing and relative short length of the journey)

Wait for the entire party to roll on the first leg before starting the second

Your transport had no windows, and the crew weren't liberal with their information. You could try a core worlds check if you wanted, but the storm obscures the starry sky so it would be hard with 3 set back die.

Or you could wait to talk to someone inside in the morning.

"Query: If we do find something out of place at the relay, how are we even supposed to let them know?"
Mar 13, 2019 11:46 pm
"I know who these people are," says David in a somewhat aggrieved voice. "They are what there is locally of the Rebel Armed Forces and none of you would be here if you didn't sign up for this. I'm here because I hated what I was becoming back in the core worlds: an Imperial yes man covering for idiots who couldn't control themselves. I wanted to be a surgeon. I am a surgeon. All they wanted from me is to lie about the people they stabbed in the back, literally, and stitch up their friends who got in over their heads. Let's get this over with." "Assessment: I was also imperial property. Che Mora helped by painting me blue. Perhaps you just need a new coat of paint"

Tiny says, pointing to an area on his shoulder where an imperial insignia was quite obviously scratched out with something sharp. He directs himself to Mo after speaking to the doctor.

"Query: Do we have more blue paint, captain?"
Mar 14, 2019 6:27 am
Laughing aloud at Tiny's response, Mo looks back over his shoulder towards the surgeon and flicks an appraising glance up and down his frame before saying, "I might be able to rustle up enough for the good doctor, and if we can't cover him head to toe, maybe just a few accent pieces will do it, yeah? And yeah, doc, we all know where we are and how we got here. I think that Tiny was saying that we don't know the actual number of people we may be facing, nor their reasons for sabotage, if that's what has happened."

Continuing to trudge up the slope, Mo continues to keep a cautious eye out, despite the nasty conditions. If it was him, depending on the state of the comm tower, he'd like have set an ambush up for there as it would allow better cover for the attackers while the repair crews struggled to make headway up the mountain. Shame they didn't know more about what this tower looked like or the lay of the land. But you can't always wait for perfect knowledge, he supposed.
Mar 14, 2019 8:48 pm
Maldan nods at his companions, cautiously looking around him. Climbing in these conditions were more difficult than he was used to, but he seemed to be handling himself well enough. His brows furrow as he gives a concerned look towards the direction he assumes the tower to lie in.

"I am all too familiar with Imperial tactics. If this is one of their incursions, or some other bit of trickery they have plotted, we will need to move beyond this treacherous terrain and onto firmer ground. If there is trouble ahead, we are far too vulnerable for my liking."
Mar 14, 2019 11:22 pm
Opening the door to the outside David turns to Tiny and says, "I really don't think anybody else heard what I said since they were all out here when I told that to you."
Mar 15, 2019 12:05 am
The Party continues the climb in the windy storm. Carving out a knee high trench in the fresh snow in the pitch darkness. Tiny's light beams into the distance, snow blows in to the beam and the light is reflected harshly.

The ridge line appears to be about 3 feet wide, very rounded and soft from all the snow. Each side descends into a dark stormy wind driven snow. You're making good time, and this trail should be sufficient to find your way back.

OOC:
I added Maldan's advantage to your roll... it didn't help. You just walked off the ridge.
Maldan continues to scamper ahead of the group his short strong legs making quick work of the dark snowy terrain. The light from Tiny, shines on in a cone of brilliance. Then suddenly the light waves around erratically and the sound of metal and snow tumble off the trail leaving the party in darkness looking down the hill.

The fall was not a bad one. Only about 10 feet down the slope you can see a mound of snow and dark metal. Tiny's light, now obscured by the snow covering it, dimly illuminates a small circle through snow.

No harm done, the snow is very soft here. And as a result of losing the light you can see a dimly green light flashing in the distance up ahead. It's the Comm tower's night beacon. You're almost there.

Maldan's Advantage

"Observation: I have fallen down." Tiny chimes from the bed of snow he is laying in.

He lifts himself back to his feet and brushes some of the snow off of his ocular lens, shutting off his light at the same time.

"We seem to be close to the relay." he continues.

He gathers himself, doublechecking that his gear is still all there, and picking his rifle up from the snow. He checks the chamber to ensure that the round is still seated properly, and clambers back up to the ridgeline that the group is walking.

As the group continues to scale the ridge, Mo begins to worry less for the safety of the group and more for whatever threats they have waiting for them at the comm tower. So instead of focusing his attention on utilizing his climbing gear and keeping things coordinated in the snow, he begins to start peering ahead, squinting into the dark, swirling snow hoping to make out any details of where they're going.

"I think I can see something ahead of us, guys." Mo says, trying not to be too overly loud, though he is fairly confident that the wind will cover much of any sounds he makes. After a moment squinting ahead he does indeed seem to make out the dim lights of the comm tower, but before he can really start to take stock of it, he feels a jerk on the rope as Tiny slips off and tumbles down a short fall.

The party approaches the communications tower. A large two story tall grey antenna jutting up into the foggy clouds. Several lights continue to blink steadily on top of the tower as well as within the small electronics on the shaft of the antenna.

At the base of the tower are several large containers each about the size of a washing machine that contain all the equipment required to operate the tower. Each has a door that provides access to the internal contents.

One of the boxes appears damaged.
OOC:
Lets get a team perception check made for the tower, include the 3 setback die due to the storm. Assists from other players can add boost die since you're looking as a team. If you can articulate well ,a reason to give more than 1 boost die to your team, I'll allow it. This will only be 1 roll, not 4 different rolls. Your goal is to have the best possible single roll.

This will be your option as to the difficulty, you only get 1 opportunity to roll.

[Easy] = identifies the problem.
[Average] = identifies the cause and the problem
[Hard] = identifies if it was sabotage, the cause, and problem

I would recommend using your best person to roll, and add boost die to him. Add a narrative how your character is helping the person with the perception.

If someone rolls without consulting the team, the roll will stand as the final roll.

Good luck. Work as a team.

Mar 18, 2019 10:40 pm
Tiny taps his fist on the damaged box.

Pointing to it, he calmly states "Statement: This control box appears to be damaged."

He continues to stare at the box, completely perplexed by the damage.

OOC:
I was kind of waiting for your input in the other thread before posting something, sorry for not making that clearer. Trying to figure out how you wanted us to make this check. We figured out that 3 Cunning is our best Cunning stat, and Tiny has 1 rank in Perception. So we were wondering if we should roll it as YGG representing say, Mo's innate cunning aided by Tiny's skill at observation. Possibly with a blue dice added on for David and Malden assisting as they can... Or if it should just be GGG with a boost for the others helping.
Mar 19, 2019 3:38 pm
OOC:
I was intentionally not responding. I was hoping you guys would come up with a solution on your own.

Also dont forget to add 3 setback die to the difficulty roll.
Mar 19, 2019 3:57 pm
OOC:
Sorry, I was just wanting to make sure I had the rules right, heh.
Trying to squint through the wind-blown snow wasn't easy, but Mo was bound and determined to be useful on this trip. From their position he was able to barely make out their final destination. "Hey, Tiny, do me a favor and shine that light of yours onto the tower there, help me see if there's anyone on the tower itself. David, Maldan, keep an eye on those containers, make sure no one is hiding behind them or anything. Try making some snowballs and chucking 'em at one of the nearer crates, see if it causes any stirring."
OOC:
If you think the snowball idea to try to shake out anyone hiding there, you can roll a boost on your own, I'm just gonna do the normal boost die from them assisting. Good lord that's a scary about of bad dice... Do we have any Destiny points? If so, I'd like to flip one before I roll for an upgrade.

OOC:
He specifically is looking for someone on the tower. That's not the roll we're looking for. We're looking for a perception check to find out what happend to the comm tower, and why it's damaged.

Given the narrowness of the tower, it should have been an Easy check, with 3 setback die.

I'll re-roll that check
Tiny scans the tower with his specialized optics. There's no one hiding. There's not even any heat signatures. The tower is cold and there hasn't been anyone in the area recently. The surrounding area is all the same temperature, and given his calculations, if a warm blooded individual was on or around the tower it would take approximately 5.2689531 hours for the temperature to normalize with the surrounding environment (given a standard deviation of the current delta Q of temperature of course). Therefore there exists a 99.126 percent probability that you are completely alone standing next to the tower, and the greatest threat to your welfare would be the current environmental conditions.

"Snowballs I could do but I'm not sure if this stuff is wet enough to compress. See how softly it's building up? Maybe a couple of blasts from my pistol will do the trick or is that too hardball?" Armitage moves away from the structure a couple of steps and pulls out his blaster pistol.
Mar 20, 2019 9:04 pm
OOC:
I mean, you can if you want to. I misunderstood a bit of what Kirk was laying before us. I thought we were a ways back still looking upwards at the comm tower, not literally right there starting to check out the equipment. Hence why I was still in the "looking for bad guys" mentality. But hey, these things happen. If you can think of clever things to do that might add a boost die to my roll for checking out the gear, feel free to pile in, heh. Could use a success, heh.
Mar 21, 2019 1:14 am
The party surveys the tower and associated equipment and can't tell what's wrong with it. It's obvious that one of the crates is heavily damaged, maybe by an impact of some sort, but nobody can quite figure out what kind of impact or where it came from. It's bent inward, there are scratches and marks to the container.

Nobody can tell if this damage is the cause of the outage or if it's completely unrelated. You'll need someone else to come out and make a more professional determination under better conditions. You photograph and scan the area with your datapads for your report.

While it was not a successful trip, Mo feels better knowing that they have a scan and pictures to take back to command, so he removes 1 strain.
OOC:
If there is anything else you'd like to do before heading back inside, now is your chance.

Tiny keeps looking up into the tower.

"Assessment: It would be silly for a saboteur to try and flee to far in this weather without a vehicle, but we would have been notified of the vehicles ion signature before leaving, if they had seen one."

Tinys left hand meets the "chin" of his head, and he scratches along it with a metallic scrape. He had seen someone do this before, and thought it portrayed thoughtfulness and wisdom, and has done it whenever making a serious deduction or assessment ever since.

He will once again check that there is a round chambered in his rifle, before looking back down the hill.

"Joke: We should have brought skis"
Mar 21, 2019 6:16 pm
The party heads back down the mountain.

Following in the path they took coming up is easy, there is a noticeable trench from the four of them leading down the ridgeline back to the hatch. They travel quickly, and it seems to take less time to travel back, than it did to travel up the ridge.

Once they approach the hatch Maldan reaches it first and opens the hatch. The fresh fallen snow slides off the door and piles up near the hinge. The wet door shines in the light of Tiny's beam.

The party climbs down the ladder, comfortably following each other down in quick succession, followed by Tiny, who keeps the ladder illuminated. With each heavy footfall on the ladder on the way down snow and ice fall to the floor below adding to the already messy dirty ambiance.

The blue lit room with coats surrounding the walls and the ladder in the center seems both brighter and warmer than it did before you left. Perhaps it's the contrast from the outside temperature, but the base feels more lively. At the end of the maintenance shaft that leads into the well lit hallway, you see recruits and cadets and officers walking by frequently. Some holding food, some holding datapads, and others walking together talking. It's obvious the morning is in full swing.

As you doff your jackets and boots a rebel junior officer turns from the hallway down your maintenance shaft.
Mar 21, 2019 6:17 pm
Good morning recruits. He says with a bored smile.

How'd it go out there? Lieutenant Dreven would like a full report.

He stands before you making a note on his datapad, as he waits for the details of the communications tower
Mar 21, 2019 7:17 pm
"We were lucky. I didn't have to reattach any limbs or patch up any holes." Armitage shakes the remaining snow of his parka and boots and removes them. 'might have to wait out the storm before we can do anything about the damage but there was quite a bit of it.
Mar 21, 2019 7:20 pm
Tapping on his data pad he responds What was the extent of the damage?
Mar 21, 2019 9:19 pm
" The tower itself seemed intact. There was no obvious signs of sabotage, but with none of us being trained mechanics, it all looked like circuits and wires, um, sir. One of late containers that, presumably, housed some of the comms equipment was pretty heavily damaged. It had been smashed in like something had been slammed against it and there were scratches and marks all over it, no idea what could have caused them. Whatever did it, though, was probably fairly strong, that thing was a mess. Uh, sir. Oh, yeah, almost forgot. I didn't see any signs of blood, though to be fair I wasn't looking that closely for it .." Mo said edith his eyes closed, trying to sum up what he remembered of the scene as best he could. Of course, remembering that he had to call this guy sir became a, well, secondary concern compared to recalling the scene. Satisfied her had the pertinent details right, he opened his eyes back up stood easily, one hand resting casually on his blaster belt.

"I thought we were to report to the Lieutenant. Or are you going to send our report to him?" Armitage asks the Rebel Officer. "My best guess from what we could see was that it was an animal. A really big one. Probably looking for food. Didn't look like it was able to penetrate though, but I didn't see everything. Did anyone see any other damage?"
Mar 22, 2019 4:16 am

These logs should be fine. He acknowledges the data transmission from Tiny by tapping on the datapad. As the transmission bar loads across the screen. The officer squints and looks to the side.

An animal did this? I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see the pictures. I thought there were't any here.

Oh! It says here you are to report to the briefing room at zero seven hundred for your first assignment. he continues tapping without looking up and making eye contact.
It's almost half past eight, you're quite tardy for your first day. Not even his contempt breaks his attention to the datapad.
I can show you how to get there. Follow me. A small smile flashes across his face as he finally glances up and looks at the party before an abrupt about-face points him down the maintenance hall walking away.

You're not sure if he's just being unusually helpful, or if he's anticipating getting to view recruits being grilled on the first day for being late. Whatever the motive, he leads you down the hallway.

As you follow the officer out the maintenance shaft into the main hall way, you notice the eyes of the other recruits and officers as you walk past them in the hallway. They seem fresh, vibrant and full of energy, in stark contrast to the lumbering exhaustion that you find yourself in.

The officer leads you into a command and control room.

The room is mostly round, with a ceiling of about 15 feet. Several large holocronic projection tubes protrude out of the ceiling in the center, hanging over a white and blue circular projection table which is obviously the main focus of the room. Around the periphery are computer terminals and workstations that are mostly occupied with officers and technicians performing operations.

Just beyond the projection table is a rocky structure that connects the floor to the ceiling with a grey blue icy rock. Large black cables and wires are bundled together and run up the side of the outcropping until disappearing behind the insulation above.

Just beyond the outcropping are several glass boards illuminated with different tactical information scrawled on both sides while officers huddle around them in small groups discussing strategy.

Among the huddled leaders you can easily see the large officer that roused you out of bed this morning. He stands slightly hunched over, with one arm folded across his chest, while the other arm strokes his chin as he listens to one of the officers. His brow furled and eyes fixed on the tactical glass board.

Your escort notices your interest and chimes in with a smirk You remember Lieutenant Dreven from this morning right? As he leads you around the projector table he raises his finger in the air to get the Lieutenants attention.

LIEUTENANT! he raises his voice to be heard across the room.

The Lieutenant's eyes dart from the glass board to the junior officer calling to him, but otherwise remains in his brow furled stance. His lack of excitement tempers the junior officer's tone.

Sir, this is the team that was out- his sentence is interrupted
Mar 22, 2019 6:18 pm
-Out checking the relay. A woman dressed in a white robe says interrupting the officer. Stopping him in his tracks

She gracefully meets the party before they are led around it by the junior officer. White gown flowing to the floor, perfect posture, she serenely approaches.

EPISODE 1: Making New Friends

Yes of course. How delighted I am to meet you all. I am Mon Mithrania Commander of this base, welcome. she gestures to the party in a sincere calm demeanor, smiling like the queen of a small country.

Thank you Corporal for bringing them here, I believe the Lieutenant word like to speak with you She gestures back towards Lt. Dreven as the junior officers shoulders slacken and his posture droops like a bearer of bad news. He shuffles past the Commander and towards the back of the room.

Turning her attention back to the party she says Thank you for choosing to join us. I know the road to freedom from tyranny is a long and difficult path. But each of you have showed remarkable talent and determination to resist evil, and strive for a better galaxy. One of peace and tranquility. Her eyes gaze off into the distance, as if she were looking on that idyllic peaceful galaxy from a distant view. A silent moment passes before she starts speaking again.

I know you are weary from your journey to the communications relay. But unfortunately we have an urgent task that must be taken. It is our custom to have new recruits participate in a two day orientation to our facility before being sent on a mission, but time is of the essence. So I will attempt to be brief. She turns toward the projection table and makes a slight gentle hand gesture. A projection of a planet fades into view.

This is Kriselest II. The second moon of the icy planet Kriselest. Rebel governance has chosen to build a starfighter outpost here due to its proximity to the Corellian Trade Spine Hyperdrive route. Our presence here is near enough to facilitate frequent efforts of espionage and insurgency against the empire's core systems, while simultaneously remaining in an overlooked barren system in plain sight.

As the icy moon rotates in mid air above the projector table she points to a non-discript section of the sphere and it stops moving. Here is out base an orange wire outline expands from the surface. we are connected to the alliance by only a single communications relay [b] A green tower is added atop the orange wire box as she speaks. [b] This is to reduce our transmission signature in the region, and remain undetected. As you are aware, the tower went down last night and we have been unable to receive any new information from the Alliance. Their last orders included sending a delegation to the planet Agribba to garner rebel support in the Devaron system

The projection table changes images to a lush green agricultural planet.

There was more information in the transmission, but it was lost and unrecoverable.

Our goal at this juncture is to send your team to meet with the leaders of Agribba to convince them to join the rebellion.

The importance of including Agribba in the Rebellion is to increase resistance in the region and to support the alliance with Agribba's abundant exports in Agriculture and food supplies.

Agribba is ruled by a committee of 3 councilmembers. They must have a majority vote to join the Rebellion.

Convince them to join the Rebellion for the betterment of the galaxy.
she turns from the projector to make eye contact with the party.

Are there any inquiries? she slightly tips her head to the side anticipating questions.
Mar 22, 2019 6:29 pm
OOC:
What do you mean by deception? There was no deception. Armitage had actually convinced himself that it was some kind of animal, maybe a large bear. He'd heard stories of bears breaking into structures looking for food during the early or late winter. He will not take a strain.
Mar 22, 2019 6:51 pm
Aldrusian says:
OOC:
There was no deception.
OOC:
The only thing the Doctor knows is that he doesn't know what caused the damage. Anything beyond that is made up and not true. Since the perception roll was failed, you don't know if it was an animal, so to say that it was, is a lie. Apparently convincing enough to dupe the Officer.
Mar 22, 2019 8:39 pm
Maldan strokes his chin thoughtfully as he regards the images being projected before him.

"It would be an honor to undertake this mission, of course, but I would like to know more about these leaders that we must entreat to join us. What do we know of them? Are there any who are more predisposed to supporting our cause than others?"
Mar 22, 2019 9:35 pm
OOC:
I mean, he can assume it was an animal. I know I was. That wouldn't necessarily be a lie because he believes it to be true.
Mar 22, 2019 9:47 pm
"I'm also a little curious how far we are being asked in order to convince them to join? Is this a situation where whatever they need in order to vote to join, if we can manage it, then do so, no questions ask? Are we to make any sort of regular reports in on our progress, or should we avoid that so as to help the base fly under the radar?" Mo asks, studying the projection for a few minutes before looking back to Mon Mithrania.
Mar 23, 2019 5:57 am
Excellent questions. She says with a smile

You've been chosen because you can make difficult decisions while in the field. In regards to convincing them to join, you must do what you feel would best represent the Alliance to these people, that would sway them towards open rebellion with the empire. You will be operating without radio communications, to maintain a low transmission signature. However, she pauses, folding her hands together and leaning in Do not hesitate to reach out if you are in danger. Likewise, new information that may jeopardize the mission will be relayed to you as quickly as possible.

The three leaders represent the pillars of the Agribbian society: Agriculture, Spirituality, and Education. Our spies tell us that elections are held every three galactic cycles, and they are 2 cycles away from another election.

The council meets every week in the council chambers, located here. She points to a location on the projection, and a orange dot appears. It's in the city centre. It will be updated on your datapads. It might be wise to meet with the council members privately before addressing the entire council.

Is there anything else you might inquire about?
Mar 24, 2019 8:16 am
Tiny raises an oversized robotic hand.

"Query: What is the transportation to the planet, and when we land, how do we get around?"
Mar 24, 2019 6:16 pm
She mentioned a 'week' and a 'galactic cycle' but both of those could mean different things to different people depending on where they're from, thinks Armitage. Standing at the back of the group he turns to Mo and whisper. "I wonder how she's defining a week and a galactic cycle."
Mar 25, 2019 12:36 am
Once you're on the planet, transportation around the city is fairly straightforward. But I presume you're most interested in getting there. She smiles at Tiny softly.

We have acquired a light freighter for your team to use.

Speak to 'Rex' in the garage, and he'll see that you're well taken care of.

Do you know the way? I'll have someone escort you. She turns back towards the Junior officer that is still speaking with the Lieutenant.

Corporal? Would you mind showing our new recruits to the hangar bay?

Both the Corporal and the Lieutenant stop their conversation and walk across the room to join the conversation.
Mar 25, 2019 12:48 am
I just got the report of your work on the tower. The Lt. abruptly starts the conversation with no small talk

It's not what we were looking for, but it'll do. We'll assign a repair crew to get to it. Minor disappointment can be heard in his tone.

We now believe you had absolutely nothing to do with the missing recruit. He's still absent without authorized leave. Thank you for checking out the relay.

Get yourselves kitted out before leaving, you might be gone awhile. See the quartermaster for supplies if you need to.
OOC:

Mo just kind of shrugs at the doc's question, she wasn't specific for sure, but it was something that could be easily rectified once they got onto the planet and got a little more information so he wasn't too concerned. He was far more interested in the answer to Tiny's question, and had to suppress a smile when he heard that they were giving them a light freighter to use. Sure, they weren't as nimble as X-Wings, but you could do a lot with a nice freighter. Thinking over the situation he addressed the Mon first and said, "Thank you for the information. I'm sure we'll be able to get some more once we get to Agribba as well. We'll make it happen, ma'am."

Turning to address the Lieutenant he tried hard to shrug at the slight tone of disappointment. Nodding after he finished Mo said, "Not what we had hoped for either, sir, but the conditions were fairly rotten and none of us are trained mechanics. Hopefully with the scans from Tiny, plus our information, the repair crews will be able to get it up and running before the mission you mentioned. We'll definitely check in with the quartermaster before we go. Any other instructions?"
OOC:

Armitage calls out as the team turns to leave the room. "Hey guys, before we all break up got a question. Should we top off our med supplies before we leave? All I have is an Emergency med kit, some stimpaks and one dose of standard Anesthetic. What do the rest of you have for med supplies?"

Be safe out there. None of us know what was missing from the transmission. If it looks dicey, just make it back in one piece. The Lt. nods, showing a very subtle masculine concern for the party.

Giving the Lieutenant another salute, Mo turns and starts walking towards the quartermaster, trying to draw the others along with him. Once they leave the room with the high up muckity-mucks, he pauses and says, "We do indeed, Tiny. Who knows, if we do a good job, they might let us keep it even. Still... As for medical supplies, well, I have a few stimpacks, but I'm no doctor. I suppose we can see what the quartermaster might have, but maybe let's check out the ship first. It might be stocked up... In fact, I think I'm gonna head over and check it out first anyway, that way we know what to talk to the quartermaster about."

Changing direction to head towards the garage, Mo saunters along, happy to getting out of these caves and back up into the blackness of space. It feels like an age since he's had a ship underneath him and he was beginning to miss it. Walking into the garage, he takes a moment to look around, hoping to get a glimpse of their new ride as he looks for Rex.
Mar 26, 2019 6:48 am
Tiny follows Mo, lumbering over him like a mechanical shadow. The thought of checking out the new ship sounds intriguing, and hes curious to see what kind of firepower hes gonna be working with should they engage any imperial vessels.

"Excitement: Ooooh, i hope they have a QV-3 Disruptor! Ohh! Or a Fusion Accelerator Cannon! Or a Tomral RM-76!"

His vocal modulator can barely process the tones of excitement that Mo knows hes trying to convey. If theres one thing Tiny loves, its big guns, and blowing up TIE craft.

OOC:
I'm not planning on narrating the quartermaster encounter. If you want to gab some extra supplies, just write it in during the down time. I just wanted to give everyone the opportunity to stock up.
As the party heads down the hallway heading towards the garage, the familiar sound of ratcheting tools and voices echoing in the large space can be heard before rounding the corner into the entry way.

The hallway terminates in an archway that opens up to a large open room with a very high ceiling. The cavity was carved and blasted out of the rocky interior of the icy moon on which the base occupies.

Astromech droids and mechanics can be seen scattered throughout the scenery. The edges of the garage have many workstations with large tool boxes and large equipment recently used, placed out of the way. To the right about 800 feet away, you can see the blue energy shielding covering the main entrance, keeping the bitter weather outside.

Near the main entrance a row of 6 Y-Wings are lined up side by side, noses pointing in the same direction, toward the center of the room. Hoses attached, boxes and crates nearby, but no personnel attending to them.

Directly across the hanger from the Y wings, 2 X-wings sit next to several open spaceship parking spaces. It looks as though there were 8 X-Wings parked here, and 6 of them are out of the hanger, judging by the open parking areas.

The crates and hoses are all pulled back from the empty spots, indicating they left this morning, and haven't yet returned. The 2 remaining X-wings both have maintenance crews patiently tending to them. Sparks fall from the tools of a repairman under one the X-wings, and he lays under the ship welding on the hull. The cracking and sputtering of the welding echos in garage.

Towards your left, near the rear of the garage you see a YT-2400 freighter surrounded by large crates and a handful of technicians.

https://i.ibb.co/7QVcqSr/images-q-tbn-ANd9-Gc-Tp-HDup-Eiu-Shoghx-8-Yg-Qg0-Qz-Fx-Osm0-Ktz-ZLQq-PF-1wxqr10a71eg.jpg

To the untrained eye, it looks completely normal from a distance, but as the party walks across the concrete floor of the hanger to get a better look the damage to the freighter is immediately apparent.

Large deep black blaster marks score the aft of the ship near the top of the engine output. The ship looks to have been chased down and fired on by some very large weaponry. It's surprising that the damage didn't pierce through the hull.

Working around the freighter are several small pit droids. They are opening the crates and taking parts and pieces out, assembling them into larger components and laying them out in some order that seems obvious to them and the mechanics.

A floating Toydarian peers through the glasses perched on the edge of his nose as he observes the pit droids working, making notes on his datapad and stroking his dirty white beard.

Out of the interior of the ship the party sees a large Besalisk and small blue Squibb walking down the ramp towards the Toydarian both grinning with a guilty childish smile.
Mar 26, 2019 6:16 pm
It's not ready yet. The Toydarian says addressing the party, still looking at his notes.

You're welcome to stow your gear inside if you'd like, but you won't be going anywhere soon without an engine He looks over the top of his glasses at the party with a large smile.

He lowers his datapad and flutters over to the party. My name's Quenerexanol. But most folks just call me 'Rex'

We're having a bit of trouble getting the engine sorted out. Dreks and Ketta are helping out quite a bit but we could use a few extra hands He gestures back toward the Besalisk and Squib both that now join in the conversation.

The Besalisk wipes his four hands with a rag, cleaning them off prior to possible handshake. The squib notices this all too late and decides that his small furry hands are best wiped off on his overalls, which are also covered in grease and oil.
Mar 26, 2019 6:19 pm
Hi! The small blue squibb chips in.
Mar 26, 2019 6:54 pm
Deks Let’s out a quiet "Hey boss" as he passes Rex and tucks the rag away with a left arm as both of the right arms each extend towards two of the party coming in. He is wearing a set of cargo pants that were once blue (presumably) with a tool or knick-knack sticking out of every pocket, a greased up wife-beater shirt and over it all a warm looking greatcoat.

"Deks Rall, uhm, pleasure to meet you all."

One of his left arms rubs over the back of the Besalisks head. The other left arm, now rag-less, indicates the Squib beside him.

"Me and Ketta here have been trying to fix the thing up but lots of work. She’ll be pretty soon though. Any of you reckon you can pilot it?"

"Introduction: Greetings. I am designation T1-N33, Gunnery specialist and weapons enthusiast of the crew of captain Che Mora Amorantha," Tiny gestures towards the Pantoran he is accompanying, "He is more than capable of flying this...thing."

Tiny seems lost for words. He cant quite call it a ship. Theres no guns, no big proton torpedo bays, not even a Flak launching Mass driver. Tiny debates briefly about just sitting atop the ship with his rifle to stop any imperial vessels, then determines it to be a bad idea.
Mar 27, 2019 6:23 am
OOC:
I'm going go with the assumption that Mo recognizes the ship type based on his two ranks of piloting space. Also, for clarification, a YT-2400 typically has a ventral mounted gun, is that present on this ship (so Tiny has something to occupy himself and not fall into a state of depression)?
Mo's eyes are fixed on the ship, bounced around to pick out details of the craft, and it's obvious to anyone watching that he's eager to get on board and slide into his seat. Absently he shakes hands with the Besalisk as he restrains himself from heading inside. At the mention of piloting the craft he focuses his attention on the conversation at hand and says, "You better believe I can fly her. And, for the record Tiny, this isn't a 'thing', this is one of Corellian Engineering Corp's finest crafts, a YT-2400. Once our big friend here gets her fixed up, I'm eager to put her through her paces. How much of that damage is superficial and how much more time do you need to get her operational?"
Mar 27, 2019 6:40 am
"How much time, hmm? None of the damage is superficial. Engine needs some parts replaced, the resonance wave synchronizer took a hit, inter-coolers on the sub-light terminal bi-phasic adjusters are messed up. Shield circuits burned out, and we have bend bulk-heads to boot."

Deks lets a silence fall for a moment.

"Rest of the damage is superficial though."

He gives an awkard laugh.

"In short we need all the help we can get, and as much time as possible. But seeing as you brought your gear time doesn’t seem a commodity we have?"

The Besalisk poses it as a question to know what to prioritize on the ship and already starts summing up what repairs can be done on board.
Mar 27, 2019 7:55 am
"So I'm just going to assume that those are real words and not just you messing with us. I can fly anything with engines, but I wouldn't know a spanner from a flux capacitor. As for the rush, well, there are some time concerns, sure, but we want to make sure she's in flying shape before we leave. If you need some manual labor, maybe Tiny can pitch in and I'm willing to help hold things or hand you tools... Let us stow our gear, and I know that Doc wanted to check in with the quartermaster too." Mo says with a confounded look on his face as Deks spouts off with some sufficiently technical sounding mumbo-jumbo to convince him that it might take a while before any actual flying happens.
OOC:
I'm not sure how long a "galactic cycle" is supposed to be, I think someone asked about that earlier too. Do we have any sort of sense of the urgency of this mission? Does Mo think we have a day or two to finish some repairs or does he think that we should get the ship spaceworthy, then make repairs on route as best we can?
Mar 27, 2019 3:19 pm
"Addendum: Make sure the guns work!" Tiny chimes in, following where Mo left off. He is staring towards the ventral weapons port, trying to see if he can determine what kind of weapons system is on the ship
Mar 27, 2019 6:28 pm
OOC:
A galactic cycle means to me the time it takes our sun to revolve once around Sagittarius A Star, the galactic black hole. That is estimated to be 225,000 earth years. There are several more esoteric meanings but they have little to do with the passage of normal time.
"Is the ship stocked yet with anything? Like the galley or the medical bay? I'll go stow my gear in one of the passenger cabins, check the med bay and then make my way to the quartermaster."
Mar 27, 2019 8:39 pm
OOC:
That was my thinking of it as well, Aldrusian. I'm wondering if Kirk meant it to be a year, though.
"Sounds good. I'll stow mine and maybe help Deks if he needs some unskilled labor. The sooner I'm flying again, the happier I'll be..." Mo said, with a nod to the Besalisk before heading in and "accidentally" putting his gear into the captain's cabin.
Mar 28, 2019 4:45 am
Maldan grumbles as he scratches his head. "I have nearly no mechanical experience to speak of, but if I can be of service in any way, I will do my best to accommodate you." He moves inside and begins unloading his gear.

Tiny walks aboard the ship, poking his head around and taking in the cramped spaces. After wandering from cabin to cabin, examining the available space and finally settling on a room...or rather, tool closet. A small, fairly cramped space hidden behind a panel near the ventral gun access, tiny fits quite snuggly inside.

Once he has wedged himself into the small space, he lets out a mechanical sigh and says "Exclamation: Its good to be home!"

After putting his duffelbag and various personal effects in the closet, he closes it up tight and begins to explore the ship, starting with the ventral gun. He will inspect it and fiddle with the controls a bit to familiarize himself with it

Well, I reckon' you're all in quite the hurry. He says is a slow gravely voice.

Lets get that engine fixed up.

Rex's datapad beeps, indicating a new workorder has arrived for him.

Oh, well that's poor timing. He strokes his beard.

Next time kid, you'll get your chance, don't worry.

Ketta's ears droop just as much as his shoulders do. He slowly trundles off with a broken spirit.

Grabbing his backpack with one hand, it almost drags on the ground from his lack of enthusiasm.

As he looks over his shoulder while leaving the group he raises his other hand to his head and gives a two finger salute to Deks as if to say, thanks for help, hope to catch up with you in the future.

He somberly walks out the garage and out of view down the hall.

OOC:
Since not everyone has taken initiative to start working on the freighter, those standing around will be put to work helping Rex and Dreks. So Maldan and Mo will be tied up with the repair, both providing boost die. Also since both Rex and Drexs have 2 ranks in Mechanics, Dreks will be adding a boost die as well. And since Dreks has an extra set of arms and seems to be really focused on the task, I'll assign a second boosted blue die.

Deks waited around for Rex to take the initiative but what follows is an exercise in frustration. For some reason the Toydarian and Deks don’t work to well together. Ketta seemed to be of a more adaptable size and speed for Rex and Deks, while helping out well, often finds himself blocking the way in the narrow corridors of the ship.

"Hey boss, I think I’ll make a start on the shields while you finish up here. You got this right?"

Deks doesn’t really wait around and retrieves the parts for repairing the shields outside the ship. As he heads for the circuit board he needs to repair but stalks into one of the empty crew compartments. Checking left and right before he manually closes the door to it and letting out a sigh of relief. From one of his pockets he retrieves a small canister with a blue liquid inside.

"Looks like were pulling an all-nighter."

Deks whispers as to convince himself he needs the stuff. He then taps it onto a small desk in the small room and throws his head back to inhale the blue goo from a small nozzle on the canister. It takes him three good inhales to empty the canister and he lowers his head again, seemingly at rest.

The Booster blue takes effect almost immediately. Making Deks blink a couple of times as his eyes almost turn maniacal for a for moments before going to a more normal ‘hyped up’ stare.

"let’s get this hunk of junk flying"

He snorts once and for good measure he wipes roughly under his nose, removing a small drop of blue from there and off to the circuits he is.
Once there he sets out in a frenzy, his arms working more in tandem then before, his mind sharper as he replaces the circuits and tries to repair most of the damage.

Deks works at the shielding circuitry, its overloaded and fried. Unplugging the old burnt pieces and plugging in the new parts. Flipping on the power to the unit, a component pops a snaps in a smokey spark laden explosion. Deks shields his eyes, [taking 1 strain] he quickly unplugs the smolder piece. Holding it up to the light he examines why it failed.

It's the plug. It's a 28 pin connector, but on this corellian model the power wire is reversed! These plugs dont have a marked up or down, so it's possible to plug it in wrong.

Deks pauses for a moment before an epiphany strikes him.

The engines! They're plugged in upside down!

He jumps up from the shield station to head back into the engine room.

Mo stands up, cracking his back and nearly growling in frustration. They've been at this damnable repair job for hours, and they don't seem that much closer to getting the ship functional than they were when he walked into the garage. Lashing out he kicks one of the toolboxes nearby, not realizing how heavy it is and only ends up bruising his toe a little. Looking towards Rex, who seems to be a little confused as to how to proceed, he wonders where Deks got off to as he says, "Hey, I need a quick break. If you figure out how to fix this thing, call my comlink and I'll hurry back."

He quickly leaves the engine room and goes to find a computer to try and figure out how much time they'll need to get from here to Agribba, but most of them are in low power mode and barely functioning. Swearing loudly he exits the ship and heads back into the base, hoping to find a terminal there he can use to check the travel time.

He catches his breath as he lets it sink in presumably resulting in a similar reaction that Deks had when he found out. Something in the line of: ‘All this work stunted by such a simple flaw’.
Deks wastes no time after he caught his breath though, the rush of booster blue prompting him to work onward.

(presuming a assisted similar roll as before, I don’t know how to factor in the booster blue (as it would uprade my check but not Rex’s) so maybe add that as a boost?)

Tiny calls Mo's commlink, after hearing him get angry and watching him leave through the turrets viewport.

"Exclamation: Captain, Do not worry. The gun works!"

By new, Deks has realized the character flaw he was warned about with Tiny, a glitch in the personality matrix that gives him the fascination of a child with a focus on big guns. The bigger the gun the better, seemingly, as he has continuously poked his head into the enging section to ask if they could mount weapons far too big for the ship.

He walks in just in time to hear the engine hum into life as lights begin flickering on around the room and on the various consoles. Walking over the to the big man and the floating Toydarian, he claps Dreks on the shoulder and says cheerfully, "You got it running without me, eh big guy? I knew ya had it in you! Credits can work many ways. bank transfers, sticks, etc. Some sticks are secured if they are high value, but its more common to see people carry around two or three 50 credit sticks that are unsecured. A lot of sticks have their value readout on a small screen, but some dont. The benefit of unsecured pre-valued sticks, I,E, a 50 credit stick, is you can wave it in the face of someone, and offer it to them for information.

I'd say let's tackle the next Critical Injury that the ship has, see how long it takes, and then assess the situation. We'll probably need at least a few days on planet to convince the council, plus a few days travel time, so don't wanna spend too much time fixing things, but also don't want the ship to fall apart on the way, heh.
Apr 5, 2019 8:18 pm
"If I am cleared to go I am happy to look after this ship for you guys."

Deks says, his tone more eager and active than when they first met.

"Most important right now are them bulkheads. Shields I can fix in-flight, just hope that we don’t run into anything hostile before that happens. Rest of the damage, and you won’t like this flyboy, affects sublight speed. It’s annoying but last of our priorities I reckon. If everybody helps out with the bulkheads we can replace and repair some of that. But we’ll need Rex’s help convince him to pull an all-nighter and we might get this from a trashcompactor to an actual ship."
Apr 5, 2019 9:56 pm
" Suggestion: Shields are unnecesary. Hostile contacts will be shot down and obliterated by the might of the ventral turret,"

announces Tiny, wandering in while exploring the ship.

"Assesment: I feel as though we need more guns. Can you install more guns on this ship?" Tiny asks the mechanic.
Apr 6, 2019 5:10 am
"I was just thinking the same thing," says Armitage before he returns to the quartermaster, "I always thought there was a dorsal turret also. Is there a spot for it or is this such an old model that it was never included?""
Apr 6, 2019 9:06 am
Mo winces when he mentions the sublight engines and sighs heavily before asking, "I have a feeling I know the answer to this, but can the engines be fixed in flight or do we gotta be grounded for 'em? I mean, maybe we're in hyperspace? I think the sublights shut off in hyperspace..."

Not really wanting to know the answer, but needing to know anyway, Mo turns to Tiny and says, "I know you're good, Tiny, but I'd rather have the shields up in case we run into trouble. But, like he said, that can be fixed during flight.
OOC:
I don't know if that's true or not. If it's a patently obvious fact that they don't, he wouldn't have said that and he'd like know whether they do or not.
Apr 6, 2019 4:26 pm
OOC:
Critical injuries can be fixed in flight. Hull trauma not so much.
Apr 7, 2019 6:50 am
OOC:
Then let's shore up those bulkheads, heh.
Apr 7, 2019 7:16 am
"Good!"
Deks replies to Mo aggreeing with him. Since he has no clue on the timeframe they need to be off in Deks prioritizes the project that needs to be done in the hangar bay.

"Now let’s get those two sorted on our dorsal turret. Hatch is stuck but the turret is there just open it up manually. Hydrolics messed up in there, but that’s short work for any novice technician. I’ll make a round of the bulkheads and mark the parts that need work. Maybe we can quicken the process if all of those coming start measuring the parts we need to replace. Then me and Rex get to work on those. Since you took the captain’s quarters, you make that happen right?"

Deks claps his hands once for each set of arms, the Besalisk version of ‘chop, chop’ and stalks away picking up a can of easily removable spraypaint to start marking the bulkheads that need replacing or work done on them so that the party knows what to measure. A process that is done rather quickly as he had already taken a survey of the damage. As he finishes the round he picks up the necessary tools and welding gear to get started on the bulkheads. When he runs into Rex.

"Rex, let’s get them bulkheads sorted."

A big smile cracks up Deks’s face. Just before he dons the welding mask and sets off.

So I'll make the roll, 5 for Rex's base skill 3 ranks for mechanics (with the booster blue kicking in) and I think 4 boost with the party helping (assuming that)?

Rolls

Bulkheads!

4 Success, 5 Advantage, 1 Failure, 2 Threat

Total: 3 Success, 3 Advantage

Bulkheads part 2

2 Failure, 2 Threat

Total: 2 Failure, 2 Threat

Apr 8, 2019 4:31 am
Of the bent and skewed bulkheads that couldn't actually be removed without causing further structural, the team gets to work reinforcing their integrity. Through the use of the base's substantial repairing tools and many hours of long hard work, the freighter is no longer destabilized.

yes.. yes... that'll do just fine. Rex smiles as he flutters the hallways examining the lengthy repair, shining a flashlight up and down the seams of the welds ensuring that they will hold.
OOC:
Now that the Destabilized critical injury is repaired, hull trauma threshold and ship strain threshold returns to maximum value of 25 HT and 18 SS. The previous value was 4/12 HT and 4/9 SS. Those go to 4/25 HT and 4/18 SS. Rex's perk removes 2 points of HT when performing ship repairs bringing the new hull threshold values to 2/25. Since you have an extra Advantage, lets apply it to the ship, bringing the strain down to 3/18.

The repair took quite a bit of time, its now very late in the day, almost dinner time. You've worked straight through lunch.
Apr 8, 2019 6:22 am
Covered in more sweat than he's used to after several long, hard hours of manual labor, Mo steps back from the newly repaired bulkheads and looks around with a bit of pride in his eyes. Realizing that there's not too many feelings in the galaxy better than knowing that something you've done is making the place a bit better, Mo walks over to Dreks and calls in the rest of the crew that are nearby, "Hey big guy, good work. What say we take a quick break and all run over to the mess for some dinner. While there we can chat about whatever else needs to get done, and maybe see about getting you reassigned to the mission. Is that something you can push the papers for, Rex? Or do we gotta talk to someone else. I'd feel a lot better going on this mission knowing we had a skilled mechanic with us in case something goes wrong out there..."
Apr 9, 2019 2:48 pm
I can take care of that. Drevens voice pierces through the hum of the engines.

But more than anything I need you out of this base. His tone turns serious and stern, with a sense of importance and duty.

The alliance is counting on you. Everyday the Empire grows. Building more ships, enslaving more people, expanding their reach.

The only way to combat such a powerful enemy is to turn systems in our favor. And the only way to do that is through teams like yours. Out there...doing the work.
he points towards the hagar door.

Without your work, this Rebellion will be little more than a splotch on history. We're counting on you. I'm counting on you. his voice raises in intensity to drive hom his point. Now get out there and show them why we won't go quietly into the night. Then he let's the silence draw out for several moments.

Rex, I want wheels-up in 5. he gives Rex a stern look, and turns and exits the freighter.
OOC:
After that speech, all PCs get 2 blue die for Discipline checks for 24 hours.
Apr 9, 2019 2:55 pm
Rex nods, in agreement and flutters around the ship checking a few items before heading out of the ship.
Apr 9, 2019 7:54 pm
Armitage is on board getting the galley and med bay in order.
Apr 10, 2019 5:57 am
Feeling rather inspired by the Lieutenant's speech, Mo stands up and tosses him a salute. Looking at the crew gathered around Mo claps his hands and straightens his shoulders before saying, "Well, you heard the Lieutenant. Let's gather everyone up and get ready to go. I'll go start my pre-flight checks. Dreks, I guess you're signing on, welcome aboard. I guess go get your stuff and find a room. We can do the rest of the repairs once we're in hyperspace."

Wiping a little of the sweat from his forehead, Mo heads off towards the bridge of the ship and begins to start running the ship through pre-flight checks to ensure that things are functioning.
OOC:
I don't know if you want me to make any roll for the preflight stuff, just let me know.
Apr 10, 2019 9:23 am
Deks’s mouth forms into a wide smile.

"Hah! I get to go as well. Already time for adventure."

To some it might sound sarcastic but Besalisks are known to be adventurous and slightly naïve.

"I’m getting my stuff Captain."

He gives a mock salute to Mo before pulling up his pants through his long overcoat and jogging towards the dorms to collect his belongings. During the process of repacking he takes extra care to hide the few canisters of booster blue he has remaining in his duffel-bag. Upon returning to the hangar he scrounges the place for the tools to fill a single kit, and some extra parts he might need to fix the remaining broken systems on the ship.

After claiming a bunk Deks moves for the dorsal turret, hoping to find somebody working on the hydrolics there. Perhaps the droid that was so obsessed with the ships armaments?
Apr 10, 2019 3:41 pm
Malden makes sure his personal supplies are all in order as he patiently awaits takeoff. Space flight has never sat well with him, so he eagerly anticipated the hour when they will at last make planetfall.
Apr 11, 2019 8:29 pm
As the engines spool up the freighter raises up off the cement floor of the hangar bay under it's own power. Mo gives the stick a little nudge and the freighter flies slowly out the hangar door.

The snowstorm that was raging earlier is still in full swing, though the winds have died down a bit. Visibility outside the cockpit is down to a few feet.

The cockpit instrumentation is working well, and Mo flies the navigational buoys up through the storm. The grey-blue fog and clouds become darker and darker until breaking though to the blackness of space and the crisp brilliance of the tiny stars.

Mo levels the ship off, slows the engines and completes a last check to ensure the ship is performing well in the vacuum of space. Everything appears fine. The repairs seem to be holding well, and the ship seems to have a bit more power that it should have given the stock freighter engines.
OOC:
You might want to ask to your mechanic about the extra power.

The communications console blinks an orange light indicating an interstellar transmission can be received.

Mo taps the button curiously.

Mayday mayday, this is the commercial vessel Disteria. We have been attacked by pirates. currently adrift. Request immediate assistance from any ships in the vicinity, our current position is... The voice goes on to read the galactic location of the adrift ship.

Mo plugs the coordinates into the navicomputer to get a sense of where the ship is. It shows up several systems away, approximately a 4 hour hyperspace jump in the opposite direction of Agribba.
OOC:
Obligation is triggered on Mo, he reduces his strain threshold by 2 points and all other players reduce their strain threshold by 1

"What was that?" questions Dr. Armitage. "A distress call the moment we leave the ground? I smell a rat. Gotta be a trap."
Apr 12, 2019 11:09 pm
"Assessment: Most likely."

Tiny looks towards the gun turret.

"Statement: I am on it!"

Tiny hops into the firing seat and takes aim at nothing in particular. Anybody near the hatch can hear him talking to himself; " Aggression: Pew. Pew. Pew. Die imperials. Pew Pew"
Apr 13, 2019 8:13 am
Mo glances around at the others sitting in the cockpit and shrugs as he says, " It could be a trap. Or it could be folks that need help. I'm inclined to go check it out and see what's up. I think Tiny agrees with me. What do the rest of you say?"

While the others are deliberating what they want to do, Mo plugs the coordinates into the navicomputer so he can jump as soon as a decision is made.
Apr 13, 2019 5:33 pm
"Hey, I'm just here to patch you guys up when you do something stupid. No offense but the universe is dangerous enough without us falling into a trap the moment we step out he door. So let's be very careful."
Apr 14, 2019 5:46 am
Deks didn’t find anyone at the Dorsal hydrolics and decides to fix that himself as they lift off, seeing as this is the least connected system. He shuts off the power supply from the engines to the turret manually and sets to work. It’s a short and easy job, but Deks is a bit disappointed nobody else picked it up.

After Fixing the system Deks comes to the cockpit to check if they are in Hyperspace yet. Usually he would be able to know by the sound of the engines, but with it being a new ship and all…

There he finds most of the crew in a bit of an argument about a distress call just received. He leans into the small doorframe of the cockpit with all four hands, subconsciously blocking the entire hallway.

"Hmmm, Should always check it out, next time we’ll be on the pleading end of such a signal y’know. Just my opinion though, we have a schedule to keep and all…"

He scratches the stubble on his chin for a moment.

"Dorsal is working now, I thought I would get started on the shields."
Apr 14, 2019 8:01 am
One affirmative answer is sufficient for Mo, who engages the course programmed into the navicomputer towards the distress signal. He jumps on ship comms and says, "Hey guys, just a head's up, we received a distress call. Some trader ship hit by pirates. Should be about four hours out. Be ready for combat when we jump in."

Turning towards Deks he nods and says, "You and I think the same on that, it seems. Four hours to fix the shields or things might get bumpy. You need help with it? Once we hit hyperspace the ship basically flies itself."
OOC:
I'm assuming I need to make an Astrogation, so I'll do my roll (and assume I get a boost die from someone up in the cockpit helping me out check the numbers before I punch it in) and you can add the difficulty dice.

OOC:
Just an FYI, I put the difficulty explanation in the OOC thread a couple days ago. But I can totally roll them for you.
Result:
1 success 3 threat

The ship groans and creaks as Mo brings up the hyperdrive, and as the stars blur past the canopy the hyperdrive makes some very unnerving sounds. A moment passes where the crew say nothing to each other, and just listen to the drive pulasting a rhythmic groaning sound.

They all look at Deks, who is looking off in the distance studying the sound with his head cocked to one side.

He recognizes the sound as air in the hyperdrive cooling regulator. A [Simple] fix but you need to go easy on the drive until you jump out of hyperspace.
OOC:

"Kark! This ship has truely been mauled by a rampaging ronto!"

Deks takes a moment to listen.

"Sounds like the cooling regulator, easy enough fix. I’ll handle it. If anybody can do some prepping on the shields I’ll be right along."

Deks sets off two arms trailing the rounded walls of the ships interior, another already retrieving a tool from a pocket, the last pulling up his pants under his long coat.

He immediately sets to work on the cooling regulator after removing a panel, a simple piece of tape and a few handy re-routes should do the job.

"Easy enough" Deks mumbles confidently as he places the panel back.

"Off to the shields. In case that distress call is not what it seems… otherwise I’m back on fixing hull again."

He continues the internal monologue as he arrives at the shields, hoping to find somebody there. In either case he starts repairing away.

(presuming the boost, otherwise leave it out)

Tiny remains in the turret, waiting for any sign of a hostile vessel to appear. Most people who know him would have never seen him as lucid and alert as he is in this moment. He is ready. The gun is ready. Together they are become death, destroyer of imperials.
Apr 17, 2019 9:17 pm
Dr. Armitage, having no knowledge of how to access the shields nor any regarding how they operate, stands just outside the bridge as
Deks walks past him. He makes no move to follow or help the mechanic.
Apr 19, 2019 5:57 pm
OOC:
The cooling system was a [Simple] check which means no dice are required. With that in mind, the threat from the first roll will be ignored. It was mostly a narrative tool to explain the threat generated from the astrogation check.
Deks gets right to work on the shield system. Sitting on the floor next to the shield electronic access hatch, his two right arms each hold electrical probes. He tests two points, then reads a meter placed on the floor while his left hands push buttons on the meter and fish inside the nearby tool box.

That power plug won't get the better of him this time. It takes about 7 hours of tinkering, testing, power cycling, and the shield power is restored. Deks also found a couple shortcuts that were able to improve the efficiency of the system (remove all ship strain, remove critical injury to shields).

The repair was a lot of work, and its been a long day Deks takes 1 strain. But Deks is on a roll with repairs, just a few more left until everything is running properly.
OOC:
We'll carry the last Triumph over to upgrade the next repair roll again.
Now tired from the long day the ship jumps out of hyperspace.

The coordinates drop them into a large orbit around a orange and red gas giant.

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ed/c2/21/edc2212f78366d35d6863e8d807d2915.jpg

Also in the orbit are the early formations of a ring. Mostly large asteroids scattered around the giant, some the size of small moons and many the size of capital ships. The adrift ship is nowhere in sight, but the beacon indicates that it's up ahead inside the asteroid ring.
OOC:
Since no one took the opportunity to sleep or eat on the journey, everyone takes 2 strain and 1 setback die for all skill checks for the next 2 hours.

OOC:
Just out of curiosity, have we had any chance to recover strain between "scenes" as described in the book, pave 220 in the EotE book, not sure about the others? I feel like it's a Simple Cool or Discipline check, 1 success = 1 strain recovered. Also, I only show Mo at 1/10 strain (with the penalty for Obligation triggering), now 3 with the addition 2 you just gave. I guess I've been assuming that the 1 Advantages I've been generating on checks was just going to recover strain. I can adjust that and will specify in the future when I'm recovering strain.
Yawning from where he was half dozing in the pilot's chair, Mo blinks and looks up as the console bleeps to indicate a return to normal space. Getting on ship's comms he says, "Hey everyone, we'll be arriving at that ship in about ... now. Anyone who wants a seat on the bridge, come get it. Tiny, don't shoot anything until I tell you to or it shoots at us first, ok?"

Before moving the ship in closer, Mo points to the sensors console and says to the folks in the room, "Any of you guys good with those, I wanna make sure we aren't flying into a trap here."
OOC:
Assuming it's Computers to check sensors, Mo is garbage at Computers, heh.

The book speaks about encounters, and we really haven't had any of those per se. That's why I was giving ample opportunity for people to chime in on how they would spend their time. Resting and eating must be accounted for.

If I anticipate a lull, I'll give some time for the PCs to take any extra actions or narrative. A few examples are after the radio relay, before fixing the ship, and recently through hyperspace. If it's been a day or so (IRL) I'm going to assume theres nothing else you want to do and move the story forward

OOC:
Gonna assume you'll want a piloting space check, so I'll put my side of things in, you can add in difficulty as needed. Added a blue die on the assumption that one of the people in the cockpit/bridge area are acting as a co-pilot.

There's nothing around the ship as you head to the ring. Once inside the the asteroid ring of the gas giant you cant shake the ominous feeling of flying amongst the large boulders. They block out the sun, and hang in mid air with an eerie presence.
As they take up large sections of your view out the cockpit window, the sensors struggle to scan the area. You continue to follow the distress beacon further into the belt. It's much closer, but you don't see it yet.

Roll an [Average] stealth check with 2 boost die due to the asteroids

let's spread the threats out, Mo, Armatige, Maldan, Deks and your ship all receive 1 strain from the tense situation, and the sensors working overtime.

Mo hands are steady on the controls as he guides the ships between the massive chunks of stone floating in the ring, he occasionally glances down at the sensors, but shakes his head as they seem to struggle with the task of scanning with all the rocks drifting about. With sure hands and deft control he hugs the asteroids as the ship nears the point of origin of the distress signal, flicking on the comms he says to the ship, "We're getting close, folks. Be ready for anything."

The team continues to follow the distress beacon until finally rounding a large asteroid the vessel comes up on the scope.

The computer identifies it as a "Baleen-Class" freighter (Silhouette 6). It appears heavily damaged and listing to one side. light debris and cargo form a trail of damage that reveal the path through the asteroid belt. There is a white plume of something venting out of the engines that highlights the trail of destruction.

Crew quarters and hull look to be intact and not badly damaged. You can see lights on in the bridge. They have not hailed you over comms, they might not even know you're there. The Baleen is {Close} range band to your ship directly on the nose.

I'm really confused as to how you're calculating strain, Kirk. In your earlier post you said Mo was at 6/10, max reduced due to triggered Obligation. I had scrolled back through the entire thread and adding up threats that incurred strain and additional strain given out, then reducing that by Advantages generated that I didn't use for anything I had tallied Mo at 3/10. Then shortly after that post I generated another threat (4/10), then 3 advantage (1/10), then 4 threat which got spread out (2/10). Then with the four advantage I just got off my piloting check that would be 0/10 with 2 advantage to pass of a blue dice to anyone the next player to make a check... Is my math wrong? Or have you been using the advantage I generated for other things and just not making it clear you were doing so?
Apr 25, 2019 5:27 am
On the bridge of the ship, Mo spends a few moments surveying the wreck. It looks to be fairly legitimate and he glances around the bridge saying, "Well, looks like this might be legit. Anyone see anything that gives 'em pause, or should we head on in?"

"-I believe we should proceed and investigate."

"I’m seconding that. Got anything in on the scanners or want me to fiddle with them? They are working right?"

Deks says as he makes for the scanner controls that Mo is currently occupying.

"You get back to flying captain, I got this."

He proceeds to monitor the scanners trying a few settings to get life signs from the ship if possible.

Apr 30, 2019 9:44 am
"Hold up doc… Armitage was it right?"

Deks asks while straining to have his bulk turn with the seat to face the just leaving doctor.

"Maybe you should talk with them. Get an immediate estimation on any wounded or the like. Might help our efficiency in helping them?"

Deks gives a hopeful look.

"You can always get to the medbay before they do if need be."

Tinyis searching the space around the ship, and 360 around our ship. He is suspect of ambush and basically just keeps rotating in the turret checking every possible angle he can see from here.
OOC:
IIRC, he is on a ventral turret, so he should be able to see everything coming from "below" our ship.

Im assuming its an average perception check, and then a boost for partially using the turrets targeting system (assuming its like the one on the Millenium Falcon, with the little red and orange grid window that registers targets). If this is wrong just dont count the boost die and add whatever difficulty i missed.
OOC:
Edit: Got some advantage, id like to recover some strain with that if i could, because im on a big gun and its my favourite place to be?

Just flying closer to the ship won't need a piloting check. If you want to attempt to dock with it it will be [Average].

And since it's been a little bit go ahead and give me an [Average] Stealth check with 2 boost die.

Armitage gets on the radio and pings the other ship. "Hail disabled vessel. We received your distress signal. We have a doctor on board. Do you have any injured?"
May 4, 2019 12:31 pm
Cautiously flying up near the disabled ship, Mo attempts to locate a possible location with which they can dock once they've established contact. Feeling relatively secure in their undetected approach to the ship, and having detected nothing amiss in the asteroid field, Mo is about to call over to the ship to assess their situation when the doctor jumps on the comms and hails them. Giving Armitage a nod, Mo seeks out someplace that they can dock, should the need arise.
OOC:
Wow, ok. Unless you have something interesting for me to notice on the Stealth check, I'll recover strain from that. With a lack of success, but no failure, I assume that docking isn't gonna happen. I'll use the triumph to upgrade my next check to dock and pass on a blue die to someone else.

What's that? Who's there? the unmistakable voice of a grumpy Ugnaught echos back over the comms.

They knocked out our scanners and disabled our engines We drifted into this asteroid belt. he eclaims with desperation and contempt.

we have 4 wounded, 1 critically when deck 2 depressurized.

If the pirates are gone, we'll extend the docking bridge to receive your medical support.

As Mo looks over the Baleen freighter, there's no obvious docking bridge. No doubt it's concealed to prevent unwanted ships from hijacking the cargo. Since the crew agree to extend the bridge, it will make docking a simple task.

Feeling a bit relieved, Mo sits back in his chair.

"Damaged freighter, we are inbound to help. Our scanners are clear of pirates, but we'll keep a wary eye out for them. Our doctor is standing ready to assist your wounded." Mo calls out over the comms as he maneuvers the ship closer to the damaged freighter while waiting for the docking bridge to extend. Cutting off comms he says to no one in particular, "Ship needs a name. We'll have to come up with one. He sounded legitimately worried to me, so that's one thing, I suppose. Also, be ready to help the injured, doc. Malden, go with and watch the doc's back, just in case."
May 6, 2019 10:41 am
"Hold up. We’ll need a total number of them and ask them to bring the wounded towards the airlock. Doc takes care of them, but we wait with entering until the critical injuries are dealt with."

Deks looks at the others with a worried face.

"What? You never heard stories of pirates faking this call, only to lure you in. if things turn nasty I rather be on our side of the airlock… Once we assured they are not pirates well see if we can help them fix the ship, or if we need to take them aboard."

He nods at the doctor, and looks at the others for confirmation of the plan.
May 6, 2019 12:08 pm
Mo may or may not have been in a similar situation. But he wasn't going to say that to Deks. Instead he just nodded his agreement and continued the docking procedures.
May 6, 2019 2:28 pm
Smeeg699 says:
Ship needs a name."
Their ship name is "Bendlebrynn" according to your scan of their transponder. Yours is coming up "Unknown_Vessel_9593582"
May 6, 2019 2:51 pm
OOC:
Yeah, yeah. That was more Mo rambling to himself/the others on the bridge that THEIR ship needed a name... Good to know about the damaged ship's name, though.
May 7, 2019 3:44 am
"Ooh, a name?" Doc says as he starts walking to the airlock. He calls back over his shoulder, "How about The Lollypop?" He giggles and keeps walking. He grabs a medical kit as he walks by the medical bay.
May 8, 2019 4:20 pm
Upon hearing that there is a threat of pirates, Tiny makes another wide sweep of the surrounding space, watching for anything out of place amongst the asteroids and the stars, ready to open fire on anything he sees that seems fishy.
May 8, 2019 5:51 pm
With the doctor gone again Deks gives a look at Mo.

"You take the comms, I go towards the docking tunnel and beat the poodoo out of anyone that tries to enter our ship without permission?"

Deks pats the set of baton's he has at the small of his back under his long trenchcoat.

"And we'll need somebody to feign command when this distress call becomes a shootout. You up for it from the cockpit?"
May 8, 2019 8:41 pm
Tiny yells from the turret "I would like to submit a name. We could call it The Wind and Fury. After famous poet Zzlaszlak Zlam's Poem about early space travelers and their Inferiour Technology."

the last part sounds strained, and you can hear him smacking part of the turret, trying to get it to react properly.

Mo looks over his shoulder at the big mechanic and gives him a confident grin and nods as he says, "I got this, big guy. Make sure no one tries to steal my ship."
May 10, 2019 7:05 am
Deks sullenly nods, the prospect of combat heavy on his mind. As he notices Mo's grin he can't help but return it whilst saying;

"Our ship. 'Captain'."

He sets off towards the boarding tunnel with a purpose but gives a quick shout over his shoulder.

"Get me someone on point there as well. That Maldan fellow?"
May 10, 2019 8:00 pm
The Doc waits at the airlock for someone to show up on either side.
May 13, 2019 7:36 am
Deks had retrieved a single truncheon from the semi-hidden spot in the small of his back as he made his way towards the airlock. He was testing the grip a couple of times as he rounded the corner into the airlock, to find the Doctor there.

"Hello doc, good to see you here. I’ll be standing guard as we take in the wounded. Just in case if it’s a ruse. You know how to fire a blaster?"

Deks asks as he inspects the doctor for a visible weapon of any sort.
May 13, 2019 8:55 pm
Doc pats the small of his back and smiles. He then turns to the airlock to see if they have a seal. If so he will begin to cycle the lock.
May 18, 2019 5:36 am
As Mo brings the ship in close to the freighter the bridge extends. The YT freighter swings in and contacts the airlock and stops sharply in position. Stabilizer jet thrusters snap on and flicker, holding the YT in position.

The air locks open with a woosh. Inside a long dimly lit hallway, ceiling tiles and lights hang out of position and flicker from damage. Tubes and wires are exposed by damaged and loose panes on the walls.

A fast approaching Ugnaught approaches, wielding a heavy blaster. Pointing it at the the Doctor and Deks he yells at them in a tribal language that is not Basic

"GRACKTU WAM BAL KAT MAN WRACK!"

The Ugnaught raises his blaster and shakes it while pointing at Deks.

"GRACKTU! EEBA YEN GON TA MOOK! WRACK! WRACK NA KAT GOM DA BOOT!" The Ugnaught points his weapon back at forth at Deks and Armitage.

He is clearly very agitated, he shifts his weight back and forth anticipating a fight, while snorting and grunting. He continues waving his blaster at the two. focusing more on Deks and shaking his blaster rifle at him.
OOC:
The Ugnaught is a silhouette 0 and is at short range
May 18, 2019 10:16 am
Deks tensed a moment as the Ugnaught came into view. Swinging a blaster pistol that almost was a rifle to the small being.

"ho, ho. That’s not how you greet the crew intent on helping your wounded!"

He sought cover in the event the fellow would start firing, under his breath he quitly mumbled to the doctor.
"Get the blaster ready doc. Stun?"
Noticing the Ugnaught primarily tracking his movements he decided to draw both of his truncheons but keep them up with open palms.Trying to keep the Ugnaught's attention

"I can understand if you’re a bit on edge-"

Deks shouts towards the Ugnaught, in the same breath he mutters at the doc:
"He does understand Basic I hope…"
Only to return to his original shouting volume.

"But we are here to HELP. Put the blaster down, and we’ll get you out of this mess."
Deks keeps an eye on the rest of the hallway to make sure the little one isn’t just a distraction.

"Where the kark is Maldan?"

Doc waits until the Ugnaught is fully focused on Deks before he pulls his blaster from the pack of his trousers and puts in the back of the creature. "Drop that or you won't be moving for a long time." If the Ugnaught moves a muscle Doc will pull the trigger.

Th Ugnaught lowers his weapon slowly. Scowling at the doctor. As he places the blaster at his feet on the floor you notice his unique vambrace has a datapad incorporated into it. Before you can react you watch as the Ugnaught taps a red button on the datapad.

With a whoosh and a slam both airlock doors immediately slam shut. The one behind leading to your ship, as well as the one leading further into freighter ship. The accent lights in the tube change to Red and the Ugnaught grins pleased with his quick reaction.
OOC:
Both doors will be locked with a [Daunting] (4 purple) lock

It appears that you may be having some communications difficulties here. Perhaps a Xenoloy or Outer Rim check may be helpful (2 purples) or trying an alternative dialogue path. If you're looking for something specific in the locked tube we can do a perception check too (probably 1 or 2 purples).

as a point of clarification, the locking doors was the result of the threat generated in the roll. The air in the tube is still connected the Baleen freighter supply.
