Smeeg699 says:
OOC:
I usually see them treated as an electronic "cred stick" similar to like a USB. I'm sure there's security inherent in the chips, but don't know that it's ever come up in a game I've played.
OOC:
Credits can work many ways. bank transfers, sticks, etc. Some sticks are secured if they are high value, but its more common to see people carry around two or three 50 credit sticks that are unsecured. A lot of sticks have their value readout on a small screen, but some dont. The benefit of unsecured pre-valued sticks, I,E, a 50 credit stick, is you can wave it in the face of someone, and offer it to them for information.
Apr 3, 2019 9:15 pm
OOC:
Also, please let me know how many of my credits you intend on spending on ship supplies. Tinys creds are all on preset sticks, so a lot of 50's, that he keeps in his bag, but hes willing to give them up if it will stock the ship. He doesnt need to buy food or clothes or anything, but he really has his heart set on a light repeating blaster.

"Top secret mission to Agribba. If you decide to sign on, we can tell ya more about it. In the meantime, what's the next priority fix? I figure we can take a little while and do some of the more critical repairs here, while we have access to the base facilities, and then if you join up, we can do some of the minor stuff in transit. Sound good, everyone? If so, let's get a move on for project 2." Mo says, sliding into a default "Captain" mode as they're on the ship, his home turf. When he realizes that he's just been bossing people around, though, he shoots a glance around at everyone gathered and hopes no one seems to mind too much.
OOC:
I'd say let's tackle the next Critical Injury that the ship has, see how long it takes, and then assess the situation. We'll probably need at least a few days on planet to convince the council, plus a few days travel time, so don't wanna spend too much time fixing things, but also don't want the ship to fall apart on the way, heh.
Apr 5, 2019 8:18 pm
"If I am cleared to go I am happy to look after this ship for you guys."

Deks says, his tone more eager and active than when they first met.

"Most important right now are them bulkheads. Shields I can fix in-flight, just hope that we don’t run into anything hostile before that happens. Rest of the damage, and you won’t like this flyboy, affects sublight speed. It’s annoying but last of our priorities I reckon. If everybody helps out with the bulkheads we can replace and repair some of that. But we’ll need Rex’s help convince him to pull an all-nighter and we might get this from a trashcompactor to an actual ship."
Apr 5, 2019 9:56 pm
" Suggestion: Shields are unnecesary. Hostile contacts will be shot down and obliterated by the might of the ventral turret,"

announces Tiny, wandering in while exploring the ship.

"Assesment: I feel as though we need more guns. Can you install more guns on this ship?" Tiny asks the mechanic.
Apr 6, 2019 5:10 am
"I was just thinking the same thing," says Armitage before he returns to the quartermaster, "I always thought there was a dorsal turret also. Is there a spot for it or is this such an old model that it was never included?""
Apr 6, 2019 9:06 am
Mo winces when he mentions the sublight engines and sighs heavily before asking, "I have a feeling I know the answer to this, but can the engines be fixed in flight or do we gotta be grounded for 'em? I mean, maybe we're in hyperspace? I think the sublights shut off in hyperspace..."

Not really wanting to know the answer, but needing to know anyway, Mo turns to Tiny and says, "I know you're good, Tiny, but I'd rather have the shields up in case we run into trouble. But, like he said, that can be fixed during flight.
OOC:
I don't know if that's true or not. If it's a patently obvious fact that they don't, he wouldn't have said that and he'd like know whether they do or not.
Apr 6, 2019 4:26 pm
OOC:
Critical injuries can be fixed in flight. Hull trauma not so much.
Apr 7, 2019 6:50 am
OOC:
Then let's shore up those bulkheads, heh.
Apr 7, 2019 7:16 am
"Good!"
Deks replies to Mo aggreeing with him. Since he has no clue on the timeframe they need to be off in Deks prioritizes the project that needs to be done in the hangar bay.

"Now let’s get those two sorted on our dorsal turret. Hatch is stuck but the turret is there just open it up manually. Hydrolics messed up in there, but that’s short work for any novice technician. I’ll make a round of the bulkheads and mark the parts that need work. Maybe we can quicken the process if all of those coming start measuring the parts we need to replace. Then me and Rex get to work on those. Since you took the captain’s quarters, you make that happen right?"

Deks claps his hands once for each set of arms, the Besalisk version of ‘chop, chop’ and stalks away picking up a can of easily removable spraypaint to start marking the bulkheads that need replacing or work done on them so that the party knows what to measure. A process that is done rather quickly as he had already taken a survey of the damage. As he finishes the round he picks up the necessary tools and welding gear to get started on the bulkheads. When he runs into Rex.

"Rex, let’s get them bulkheads sorted."

A big smile cracks up Deks’s face. Just before he dons the welding mask and sets off.

So I'll make the roll, 5 for Rex's base skill 3 ranks for mechanics (with the booster blue kicking in) and I think 4 boost with the party helping (assuming that)?

Rolls

Bulkheads!

4 Success, 5 Advantage, 1 Failure, 2 Threat

Total: 3 Success, 3 Advantage

Bulkheads part 2

2 Failure, 2 Threat

Total: 2 Failure, 2 Threat

Of the bent and skewed bulkheads that couldn't actually be removed without causing further structural, the team gets to work reinforcing their integrity. Through the use of the base's substantial repairing tools and many hours of long hard work, the freighter is no longer destabilized.

yes.. yes... that'll do just fine. Rex smiles as he flutters the hallways examining the lengthy repair, shining a flashlight up and down the seams of the welds ensuring that they will hold.
OOC:
Now that the Destabilized critical injury is repaired, hull trauma threshold and ship strain threshold returns to maximum value of 25 HT and 18 SS. The previous value was 4/12 HT and 4/9 SS. Those go to 4/25 HT and 4/18 SS. Rex's perk removes 2 points of HT when performing ship repairs bringing the new hull threshold values to 2/25. Since you have an extra Advantage, lets apply it to the ship, bringing the strain down to 3/18.

The repair took quite a bit of time, its now very late in the day, almost dinner time. You've worked straight through lunch.
Apr 8, 2019 6:22 am
Covered in more sweat than he's used to after several long, hard hours of manual labor, Mo steps back from the newly repaired bulkheads and looks around with a bit of pride in his eyes. Realizing that there's not too many feelings in the galaxy better than knowing that something you've done is making the place a bit better, Mo walks over to Dreks and calls in the rest of the crew that are nearby, "Hey big guy, good work. What say we take a quick break and all run over to the mess for some dinner. While there we can chat about whatever else needs to get done, and maybe see about getting you reassigned to the mission. Is that something you can push the papers for, Rex? Or do we gotta talk to someone else. I'd feel a lot better going on this mission knowing we had a skilled mechanic with us in case something goes wrong out there..."
Apr 9, 2019 2:48 pm
I can take care of that. Drevens voice pierces through the hum of the engines.

But more than anything I need you out of this base. His tone turns serious and stern, with a sense of importance and duty.

The alliance is counting on you. Everyday the Empire grows. Building more ships, enslaving more people, expanding their reach.

The only way to combat such a powerful enemy is to turn systems in our favor. And the only way to do that is through teams like yours. Out there...doing the work.
he points towards the hagar door.

Without your work, this Rebellion will be little more than a splotch on history. We're counting on you. I'm counting on you. his voice raises in intensity to drive hom his point. Now get out there and show them why we won't go quietly into the night. Then he let's the silence draw out for several moments.

Rex, I want wheels-up in 5. he gives Rex a stern look, and turns and exits the freighter.
OOC:
After that speech, all PCs get 2 blue die for Discipline checks for 24 hours.
Apr 9, 2019 2:55 pm
Rex nods, in agreement and flutters around the ship checking a few items before heading out of the ship.
Apr 9, 2019 7:54 pm
Armitage is on board getting the galley and med bay in order.
Apr 10, 2019 5:57 am
Feeling rather inspired by the Lieutenant's speech, Mo stands up and tosses him a salute. Looking at the crew gathered around Mo claps his hands and straightens his shoulders before saying, "Well, you heard the Lieutenant. Let's gather everyone up and get ready to go. I'll go start my pre-flight checks. Dreks, I guess you're signing on, welcome aboard. I guess go get your stuff and find a room. We can do the rest of the repairs once we're in hyperspace."

Wiping a little of the sweat from his forehead, Mo heads off towards the bridge of the ship and begins to start running the ship through pre-flight checks to ensure that things are functioning.
OOC:
I don't know if you want me to make any roll for the preflight stuff, just let me know.
Apr 10, 2019 9:23 am
Deks’s mouth forms into a wide smile.

"Hah! I get to go as well. Already time for adventure."

To some it might sound sarcastic but Besalisks are known to be adventurous and slightly naïve.

"I’m getting my stuff Captain."

He gives a mock salute to Mo before pulling up his pants through his long overcoat and jogging towards the dorms to collect his belongings. During the process of repacking he takes extra care to hide the few canisters of booster blue he has remaining in his duffel-bag. Upon returning to the hangar he scrounges the place for the tools to fill a single kit, and some extra parts he might need to fix the remaining broken systems on the ship.

After claiming a bunk Deks moves for the dorsal turret, hoping to find somebody working on the hydrolics there. Perhaps the droid that was so obsessed with the ships armaments?

Malden makes sure his personal supplies are all in order as he patiently awaits takeoff. Space flight has never sat well with him, so he eagerly anticipated the hour when they will at last make planetfall.
Apr 11, 2019 8:29 pm
As the engines spool up the freighter raises up off the cement floor of the hangar bay under it's own power. Mo gives the stick a little nudge and the freighter flies slowly out the hangar door.

The snowstorm that was raging earlier is still in full swing, though the winds have died down a bit. Visibility outside the cockpit is down to a few feet.

The cockpit instrumentation is working well, and Mo flies the navigational buoys up through the storm. The grey-blue fog and clouds become darker and darker until breaking though to the blackness of space and the crisp brilliance of the tiny stars.

Mo levels the ship off, slows the engines and completes a last check to ensure the ship is performing well in the vacuum of space. Everything appears fine. The repairs seem to be holding well, and the ship seems to have a bit more power that it should have given the stock freighter engines.
OOC:
You might want to ask to your mechanic about the extra power.

Obligation - (1D100)

Apr 11, 2019 9:48 pm
Bleep bleep --- bleep bleep

The communications console blinks an orange light indicating an interstellar transmission can be received.

Mo taps the button curiously.

Mayday mayday, this is the commercial vessel Disteria. We have been attacked by pirates. currently adrift. Request immediate assistance from any ships in the vicinity, our current position is... The voice goes on to read the galactic location of the adrift ship.

Mo plugs the coordinates into the navicomputer to get a sense of where the ship is. It shows up several systems away, approximately a 4 hour hyperspace jump in the opposite direction of Agribba.
OOC:
Obligation is triggered on Mo, he reduces his strain threshold by 2 points and all other players reduce their strain threshold by 1
