Pisatel studies the icon (Academics + Intelligence) for a moment, while mumbling something about getting his gameface on. He adjust this hood, then he turns to inspect the scene using his mage sight ("Read Matrices," p. 163.)

Rolls

Academics + Intelligence - (5d10)

(55299) = 30

“Read Matrices,” p. 163. - (4d10)

(6272) = 17

Academically, Stepan understands that icons are a somewhat rare form of religious art, using egg tempura based ink to paint on wood. As to the religious interpretation of this icon, he would need to test. Intelligence+Religion.
OOC:
Recall, Religion replaces Computers on the character sheet. Also, remember to check Reroll Aces as 10s always explode. If you have an ability that grants 9-again or even 8-again, you'll need to manually explode those successes.

Dragomir looks away from the runes and rubs his eyes, as though trying to remove their image from his mind. The Cossack curses in Ukrainian and glances around to make sure there are no Sleepers in the vicinity. He then shares what he’s learned with the others.

"Those runes... they are... representations; symbols of... para-doks. They were meant to contain something. But whatever it was, it is loose. Dragomir has a bad feeling about this..."
OOC:
If possible, I’ll make another Occultism roll to see if I can guess what these types of symbols might’ve been used to contain...

Agnë takes a step back while she narrows her eyes at the scene. An uncomfortable feeling of guilt starts brewing in her stomach, while she sighs and faintly shakes her head. "This shouldn't have happened in the first place." She mutters to herself.

As she raises her glare from the floor, she thankfully finds her companions already hard at work. Stepan is diligent as always, and although she directly dislikes the horsemen, it's hard to deny that he is useful, when he wants to be.

She stares absentmindedly for a few seconds while her companions do their thing, and it's only when Chernobog speaks that she snaps out of it. His words are worrying, but still. "Chernobog knows that he shouldn't refer to himself in the third person". She says, more beratingly than teasingly. "Well, I'll talk to the Regent's soldiers. We still don't know what exactly led to this place being guarded like an actual crime scene." She says, letting her companions know as she spins around and trots back to the entrance.

If there is one thing that she knows that soldiers dislike, is a Lithuanian that seems to be lying, so it's better if she doesn't. And while she tries to put up her typical trained smile, even today, it's hard for her to do so. They don't really deserve such effort. So she approaches them, no smile on her face, with frost in her cheeks. A flame still burns bright through her muddled blue eyes, and she can't help but narrow her stare at them. Her tone, as well, come off as displeased. By them. And the worse thing as that they're sure to see her as simply feisty. A beast to be tamed.

"Sirs." She says, the safety of the place giving her enough resolve to make it sound taunting. " We are wondering, what exactly happened? As in, who discovered the scene, how they alerted the authorities, the whole run-down." She rolls her eyes with an annoyed shrug." Yes, yes, that information is not normally given to the Doctor and his team, but from what we've shortly observed... It may very well be key to our investigation." She doesn't meekly look at the floor but holds both their gazes if needed.
OOC:
So, I have a question! I'm assuming that I have to roll Presence+Persuasion anyways, but I feel a bit uncertain over Striking Looks(2). I think we've never actually defined on the specifics of the merit for Diana, but my idea was for something like she looking not-typically-russian("exotic") and at the same time also being "traditionally" good-looking. In the above example, I don't think the Soldiers would take she being taunting very seriously, Diana being a foreigner and a woman, and would even find her fire kinda enticing(i.e "exotic"). Should I include the merits bonus for that? If not, on what occasions? Or maybe I should include it every time I think it counts but roll it in a separate roll?

Edit: Aight! I'll assume it's the same for specializations as well.

Rolls

Presence + Persuasion(Convincing) + Striking Looks(2) - (10d10)

(4475656693) = 55

Mar 29, 2019 10:07 pm
OOC:
If you add such a merit and I decide that I'm not going to count it, I'll tick off the last two dice. If you include it as a separate roll, then it's even clearer.

In this case I do think it would count.

Diya is simply watching the room, pacing, watching
Mar 30, 2019 2:38 pm
One of her target guards looks away, standing resolutely, but the other one can't take his eyes of her face. His mouth opens, and he blushes, finally wrenching his gaze back toward the street.

"Orders come, say guard house, we guard, yes? You would have to ask the commissar Nesterov Lev Ilyich, of Blue Company, yes?" He points down the street to the southeast. "That way, one mile."
Mar 30, 2019 4:04 pm
Kolya enters the room, ignoring the the others and examines the body. He’s looking for any non physical shenanigans.
OOC:
int Occult roll

Rolls

Intelligence Occult - (5d10)

Dragomir and Kolya find a few droplets of goo (contaminated blood?). They seem to form a rough line toward the door at the back of room. It is partially open and leads to stairs up as well as the pantry.
Mar 30, 2019 4:31 pm
OOC:
do i see anything with the mage sight?
Mar 30, 2019 4:45 pm
OOC:
No successes rolled on Mage Sight, so no insight.
Mar 30, 2019 5:57 pm
Kolya heads towards the pantry, following the blood droplets.
Mar 30, 2019 8:07 pm
Dragomir crouches down for a moment to inspect the droplets more closely. As he watches Kolya follow the same trail of blood toward the pantry, the Cossack stands and pulls out his shiny kopek. He closes his eyes and rubs the coin with his thumb, enjoying the rush of supernal power he feels as probability distorts around him.

Once the spell is cast, Dragomir proceeds to the pantry, as well.
OOC:
Dragomir casts one of his Rotes, Fortune’s Protection (Fate ••)

It’s an Instant action, and I’m spending 1 point of Mana to make the spell last for the day. The spell is Covert and there are no Sleepers around, so I’m assuming no Paradox roll is needed. Dragomir’s dedicated magical tool is his coin, though it really doesn’t do anything for him in this situation.

I got three successes, so the extra successes go to the spell’s primary factor, is that correct?

Rolls

Fortune’s Protection (Rote): Composure + Athletics + Fate - (1d10, 1d10, 1d10, 1d10, 1d10, 1d10, 1d10, 1d10)

1d10 : (8) = 8

1d10 : (5) = 5

1d10 : (7) = 7

1d10 : (9) = 9

1d10 : (6) = 6

1d10 : (3) = 3

1d10 : (9) = 9

1d10 : (7) = 7

Mar 30, 2019 9:27 pm
OOC:
Pro tip: you can roll 8d10, rather than manually typing out each 1d10.
Chernobog's spell creates magical armor rating 2 that lasts a day. Successes are "used to combat attempts to dispel the shield."

The spell rote is neither vulgar nor improbable so does not risk paradox. That is, nothing happens that a bystander would see as being magic, such as hovering in the air.
Mar 30, 2019 9:55 pm
OOC:
ok thanks, I wasn’t sure what to do with the successes; somehow missed that in the spell description.

I should also clarify; the dots of Fate were meant to indicate the level of the spell. Dragomir has three dots in the Fate Arcanum, so I think the armor is 3. Sorry
Mar 30, 2019 10:00 pm
OOC:
You're right, of course.
Mar 31, 2019 7:07 am
With his Read Matrices mage sight in place Pisatel studies the body and the occult runes. The sight distorts reality just enough to distances himself from the horror show before him.
Hmmm... I would expect there to be some sort of arcane aspect over this grisly spectacle. But I do not see any. He pinches the bridge of his nose. Perhaps the other sight will reveal something...
He sighs deeply.
...Disapointing

Rolls

Int+Occult - (6d10)

(892242) = 27

specialized in Occult(Magic) if relevant - (2d10)

(45) = 9

Supernal Vision p.221 (prime mage sight) - (3d10)

(476) = 17

Mar 31, 2019 4:38 pm
Stepan gets a good look at the runes, and can see what they were meant to do. They were focus for magic, an attempt to limit paradox backlash. How vulgar must have the magic been to warrant such precautions with no witnesses? Surely the boyar's son was dead?

Some dark ritual was performed here. Successfully.
Mar 31, 2019 5:13 pm
Dragomir makes sure to let his cabal-mates know where he’s going.

"There is blood trail leading to this room."
Mar 31, 2019 7:09 pm
Shakes her self out of her fog. I'm coming.
OOC:
