Hey all! Sorry for the late replies.

HP: Take the average rounded up (5+CON for d8 hp)

Map Program: Incarnate

I didn't get a chance to do much, busy day today. I'll read the questions more thoroughly tomorrow.
For HP is that at first level as well? I thought we took max HP at level 1

So if my HD are d10s I'd have 6+CON? I am a little confused.
Apr 6, 2019 5:27 pm
That’s what I get and we can train somehow to grind it up to max.

I'm almost done with my fighter, but I need some advice. Should I go sword or shield, two-weapons, or two-handed weapon? What do you guys think the group could use more?

I'll have something like a shortbow for back up.

That depends do you see yourself as more aggressive or more of a defender. If you’re objective is to defend the realm and you’re a noble I’d go with the shield. If you’re more of a middle class working warrior go with the 2 hander, gets the job done. If you’re either a high class dandy or a street fighter go dual.

Well looking at it this way. I'm one-hander and shield, so if you go two-handers then in theory we won't be competing for weapons. Or you can just go with what feels interesting to you and maybe let the background story decide for you.

I had not considered that.

Hey Foolsmask did you do that character portrait yourself? If so awesome, I have great images in my brain but no artistic talents.
I did. Been into comics my whole life, then 4 years of art school. I don't do much but these character portraits with the degree though. Thank you for the compliment.

My kid is into art, he’s 12 so the ideas are largely copies of other stuff but he loves it and he makes little video games on scratch.

That's awesome. I regret that my knowledge of coding isn't better. I am of that age where computers and the internet existed, but nobody knew where they fit in culture just yet. So when I went to college computers weren't a focus available to me.

But I also started drawing by copying what I saw. I reproduced comic panels a lot. I feel you can learn a lot from studying how other artists do things, but if he is serious about it, he should try drawing from life occasionally. Even if it's an action figure he poses in a cool way. That way he can develop his own "language" of art (or "style" if you prefer, but I dislike that word...it has a lot of baggage for me personally...long story involving a BAD professor.)

What do you use? We just bought, waiting on Amazon to deliver, a cheepie drawing tablet, so he can get away from mouse and keyboard for drawing.

I very recently invested in a 5th gen Microsoft Surface Pro tablet-laptop. It was a big upgrade from the 8 year old Toshiba tablet-laptop I had before. The 6th gen Surface just came out or is coming out soon, I guess, so mine was on sale. I have not tried a lot of them, but I like what I have now a lot. In my opinion it comes down to having enough processing power to run your art program. The old one I had would bog down if I added to many layers or text to my drawings, but it was meant for Power Point presentations not art. The Surface I have has an Intel Core i7 and 8GB RAM. It is SO much nicer. The only time I have issues is when it auto saves while I'm working. It's a feature I could turn off...and probably should, but I've lost work on the old machine, so I'm a bit paranoid.

As far as software goes, I used to use a student version of Photoshop, but since getting the Surface I found this program called Krita that is freeware. It isn't as robust as Photoshop, but they did that intentionally to not get litigated out of existence. It handles digital drawing and painting nicely and has a lot of resources from other users on YouTube, so you can watch tutorials to learn. It does not do photo editing...that's the trade off, but that's not what I do personally so I don't need it. Someday I might start a monthly Photoshop account to see if I'm missing out, but for now I'm good.

I do have a Deviant Art account with this same screen name. If you wanted to see what I have been doing. The last thing I posted there using the old Toshiba and Photoshop is the Star Wars togrunta bounty hunter. The four pieces after that are the Surface Pro stuff I have posted. There's more, but I'm not great at getting stuff up on Deviant Art.

Nice, took a quick look through, good stuff.

Sorry for the delay, with my character, everyone. I'll have my character completed and submitted by tonight. I decided to go with the 2-weapon option.
OOC:
sorry for the typo, I was looking at the wrong set of notes. I chose to go with 2 weapons, fighting the smaller and lighter bladed weapons.
Is there a one-time bonus to skills? A +3 when you put the first rank in a class skill?

A first level fighter gets 3 feats to start, correct?

Oh hell I forgot feats...
Apr 8, 2019 11:56 pm
So on skills, you get a +3 bonus to any class skills that you put ranks into. If I have read and understand everything correctly, this bonus comes into play anytime you put your first rank into a class skill. Cross-Class skills don't ever get that bonus.

So at second level you can add a point to a skill you didn't take at first level and if it is a class skill, you get the +3 at that time.

As for feats, a human fighter does get to choose 3 feats. one for first level, one for being human, and one for being a fighter, but the one from being a fighter has to be take from the specific list of Combat Feats.

Thank you, that's what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure.
