Age 23 - Edu Improve roll vs. Edu 70.

I think I like Occultist, let me know about the Mythos Experience Package.
I'm ok with this, but, aside from ensuring you include the attendant penalties, please make sure this is thoroughly detailed in your character background. Cthulhu mythos is dangerous, insanity-inducing stuff in the world of HPL, so there needs to be a very good reason/story that your character has had this experience.

EDIT: If you are going to go this route, I would prefer you increase the age on the character; it seems unlikely that a 23 year old would have this kind of life experience.

Question to everyone, I have a Language skill is there any languages we really feel we need?

If we choose to play a not Native English speaker should I use this for English or is English just a gimmie?

Rolls

Mythos skill / sanity reduction - (1d10+5)

(3) + 5 = 8

Also... character sheet is not adding in base values. So if you pick up say 5 points of Handgun it’s not adding in the 20 point base. How would you like us to account for this? Oh, Anthropology is spelt wrong. 😀

I am, for this moment in time going to let it sit and when we start playing I’ll add in the bass values by hand for every skill.

My character speaks English as a second language. His primary is Egyptian.

So did you use your language skill for English? Probably wouldn’t have to as Egypt was a British Protectorate until 1922 and they didn’t actually leave till 1956.

I should shuffle some points to pick up English.

Cool. Only problem is that it doesn't look like you added a credit rating in there; this will need to be quite high to justify the assets and $'s you've in there.

It’s at the bottom in the notes, should I put it in skills? And it is pretty high... I love 1920’s dresses, art deco, and architecture.

I'll pick the "match the numbers to the stats you want" method...

I'm curious if I did the die codes correctly.

Rolls

Characteristics - (2d6+6, 2d6+6, 2d6+6, 3d6, 3d6, 3d6, 3d6, 3d6) - (2d6+6, 2d6+6, 2d6+6, 3d6, 3d6, 3d6, 3d6, 3d6)

2d6+6 : (56) + 6 = 17

2d6+6 : (56) + 6 = 17

2d6+6 : (41) + 6 = 11

3d6 : (256) = 13

3d6 : (552) = 12

3d6 : (561) = 12

3d6 : (123) = 6

3d6 : (342) = 9

Forgot one... - (3d6)

(215) = 8

EDU rolls from being in his 50's - (1d100, 1d100, 1d100)

1d100 : (10) = 10

1d100 : (88) = 88

1d100 : (26) = 26

SAN loss from war experience package - (1d10+5)

(5) + 5 = 10

EDU bonus from age - (1d10)

(8) = 8

In choosing my character's equipment, what would be considered to much for a hired gun/muscle? I'm planning on getting brass knuckles, a .45 pistol, and maybe something else. Would he carry around anything bigger?

Besides clothes, what else would a 20's character have?
Apr 12, 2019 2:55 pm
You could even theory have a Thompson submachinegun. You could actually mail order them in the 20s.

It should be in skills, or at least it needs to come out of your skill pool.

Like Ember said above, a Tommy gun would make sense. Or perhaps a shotgun. Regarding other items, there's nothing standard all characters would or need to have aside from clothes, money, and identification - a pocket watch and/or cigarettes/lighter would be common but not necessary. Don't get too hung up on the year, just think what a hired muscle would have nowadays. Or, occupation aside, what might anyone carry around with themselves today (electronics not withstanding). Just use your imagination :)

Size, education, and intelligence are 2d6+6. That should help your point total :)

I've never seen the rolls display like that, but it looks like it calc'd correctly.

It does. I can PM you all the points if you wish. I was looking at the sample character generation on pg 47 to guide me through the process. The buying languages really hurts your bottom line... I’d love to be able to speak 3 or 4 languages and it’d be useful to flesh out the character, but it would completely wipe out the points pool. I’ve got skills that make me happy but I feel kind of spread out.

What’s a useful skill level?

Do you want us to manually upgrade our skills with the base because the form isn’t calculating it in?

At what point are we considered "conversational" in a language? I get fluency is a different thing and languages like Hieroglyphics, Hieratic, Euclidian, Runic, Cuneiform or Latin might require higher skill levels to grasp as they’re dead languages.

Where can I find the weapon stats at? I haven't found them in the Investigator's guide, but I could have over looked it. I'm submitting my character though, as equipment is the last thing I need to do.
