OOC:
I haven't heard back from Keleth yet, he's still invited, we will work him into the story whenever he's ready.

GeneCortess decided to leave the game, I don't know if that decision has been (partially) my fault, but I wanted to say to everyone that if I hurt someone's feelings, please tell me, that's NEVER my intention, I'm a weird person and I KNOW I sometimes sound pretty rude. I like each and every one of you and want to create a game where everyone can feel comfortable with what they themselves and the others are doing.
Just as Nàdair is walking past the room you heard the mayor speak in the door swings open and lady Elayne (dressed in a light yellow and peach soft silky dress) stands in the doorway, with right behind her a gnome dressed in a long crimson red jacket, tails almost hitting the floor, two rows of gleaming golden buttons, about 40 in total, with golden embroidery around them reaching from his neck down to his waist, and intricate golden embroideries on his sleeves. He has raven black hair, combed to one side, and a large black mustache curled up on the ends. In his hand he holds a top hat, which he swings around when he speaks. Ze elephantse will be waitzing for you lady Elayne. He bows and turns on his heels, heading out the door.
Lady Elaine looks down the hall at the assembled people, her gaze moving to Nàdair with both eyebrows raised as high as they can go. What happened here Nàdair? I heard Glenk had to step away, but it seems you're the only one left of the people I spoke to yesterday. She looks down the hall again, noticing Roddric. Ah, Mister Bhommu, I'm glad you managed to join us today, I was afraid you hadn't received my letter or weren't able to come on such short notice, thank you for joining us now! Also thank you to everyone else that's here, much to discuss, so please follow me.
She steps out into the hallway and quickly walks a few doors down, leading you all into a meeting room, instead of the conservatory yesterday's meeting was held. Piet is standing in a corner and as Elayne moves to the head of the table so does he. Upon seeing Nàdair Piet's eyes grow big and he is about to turn around and run out a side door, but Elayne addresses him. Piet, im expecting Rose from the brewery to give us an update, could you please tell her I don't want to waste her time making her wait for her, except her message and let her get back to work. Thank you. She nods and he rushes out the door.

Just as before, Nàdair fills the room with sounds and scent. This time, a soft smell of fresh peaches spreads from the mayor's silky dress. "Hi Piet!" Nàdair smiles to the guard, who quickly tries to find a place to hide. "Wait! Did Elayne just send Piet to meet with Rose?" Nàdair thinks, going through a long mental list of curses. She quickly grabs Roddric by his arm as they enter the meeting room. "Elayne! How are you this morning? Glenk stayed with his friendly tin-men to investigate the town's crimes and robberies. I didn't see what happened to the creepy elf and maybe Alata here knows what happened to Madrake!" She forces a surprised look as the mayor recognizes her letter buddy. "Ah yes, so you met Roddric already. I found him at the Wayward Saint's. And the orc there, Mönkhbat, he's looking to help as well". Nàdair then realizes that the dwarf that was by the door seems to be following them... "I seem to have picked up a dwarf on the way as well" she looks confused as she tries to remember who the graceful little dwarf lady is.

Mönkhbat follows the crowd, reasoning that it's probably headed to where the action is.
Jun 24, 2019 7:37 pm
The 'dwarf lady', who has followed these folks into the mayor's meeting room, snorts out a quiet laugh, lips twisting in an amused smirk. "I don't recommend picking me up," she replies in a low, musical sort of voice. She looks Nadair up and down appraisingly, then up again to the woman's eyes with head tilted. "I may look dainty," she says in an arch tone. "But I don't know if you're woman enough to lift me."

She turns to the mayor and assays a graceful curtsey. "My lady," she says courteously. "I am Maighan Stonebreak, of the Stonebreak Clan of Glitterhall. My father Kardak has sent me in search of assistance with a particular problem we are facing back home." She looks around with that same appraising look, measuring each of those present in turn. "Perhaps there are... heroes... who might be willing to assist us."

OOC:
@CESN not grumpy per se, but gruff.
"Since when did dwarfs be need the help of others?" Alata snorts back quickly.
Jun 24, 2019 11:04 pm
Mönkhbat gives a nod as Nàdair mentions his name. His arms are folded atop the eye of his greataxe, its knob planted firmly upon the floor between his boots.
Jun 25, 2019 8:23 am
"A dwarf! From Glitterhall? Are you talking about that ancestor business?" Nàdair looks at the dwarf surprised. "Father Mikhael thinks there is a necromancer going around. We couldn't find him, but it isn't that far away is it?" she grabs Roddric in an excessively noticeable manner to show him the bit of the letter that mentions the depths of Glitterhall. He is probably very uncomfortable by now :D
OOC:
Aaaannddd I leaf it there for Elayne's reaction ;)

I assume I would have heard about this Kardak Stonebreak and his daughter Maighan no?

"umm. . .er. . . yes, Nàdair, a very astute observation, I suppose the dwarven ancestors and the undead attacking the caravan could be related, although the former are spirits, the latter corporal. And here I thought you weren't really paying attention." Roddric gives Nàdair a perfunctory smile and gently disengages from her embrace.
Jun 25, 2019 3:25 pm
OOC:
Maighan's father would be well known. I'm the sixth of six children, so I'm probably significantly less well-known, but I'm fine with you at least having heard that he has a daughter. :)
Maighan is opening her mouth to reply to Alata when Nadair beats her to it. She inclines her head gratefully. "Indeed. We will not fight the spirits of our own ancestors. Falstahn's hammer, can you imagine?"

She mimes swinging an axe, then puts her hand to her mouth with an exaggerated look of surprise. "Oh, great-grandmother! I'm so sorry I just opened up your... well, I suppose you don't have guts anymore, but it's the principle of the thing!"
Jun 25, 2019 4:21 pm
Lady Elayne nods in understanding as Nàdair gives her the very short update, motioning for everyone to sit as well, but not at all looking like her feelings are hurt if anyone decides to stay standing. She waits patiently for everyone to say their piece. Her eyes moving to Alata for a split second when he speaks and her hand reaches for a glass of wine that's not there, before pulling it back. When everyiy is quiet again Elayne clears her throat and nods once. Right, a lot has happened. Before I come to you, Maighan, and the issues in Glitterhall I want to quickly discuss the matters the group investigated yesterday. I assure you we are aware of the problems and I did ask the group to look into it, but as you will find out we're dealing with some pressing matters of our own in and around our town that requires much of our heroes here. Almost the entire city guard is busy dealing with some seemingly random robberies and deaths, as well as protecting anyone in town for today's festival, and any other day. Unfortunately they can't spare enough men to deal with either your or our problems without help. Elayne sits up more straight, folding her hands in front of her on the table.
So you went to the Wayward Saint and discussed the problems with the undead attacks and father Mikhael thinks it's the work of a necromancer? Does this mean they've witnessed something? That would mean they're closer than I thought! The boy spoke of an attack in Hadrigan's swamp, are they making their way up to town now? Is the Wayward Saint in any immediate danger? What about Hammonds farms? Has anyone been there to check on their safety?
When you left here yesterday you and Mandrake were headed for Fegstaf. I heard he's trying to reach hunters from nearby towns, gathering a big hunting party. He's been spotted wearing some old family heirlooms, does this mean the attacks involve werewolves? I feared as much, those bastards weren't happy when I refused to take them all in.
She reaches for her wine again, closing her eyes and sighing when her hand returns empty. If anyone starts to speak she raises her hand to shush them as she continues.
Alata, I assume that if you're here and not Mandrake the druids have other plans for him and sent you to replace him? Meaning the druids are now aware of the undead and wolf situation? Can we depend upon them for more help for these matters if needed?
And Mönkhbat, whatever brought you here it couldn't have been at a better time. If you're willing to assist this group in dealing with the threats I would feel they're a lot safer with a warrior like yourself on their side.
Which brings us back to you Maighan. I understand you can't fight your great-grandmother, even is she's just a spirit. The last reports we received gave me the impression that, although a pressing matter, lives were not yet in real danger. I assure you I'm sending some troops in the direction of Glitterhall as soon as I can miss them, but I can't send them out and let my own people without protection. It's a difficult decision to make and I don't make it lightly. I gave the group that gathered here yesterday a similar choice and now most of them are dealing with the treats inside Bromwich rather than the immediate threats outside the city.
Now, I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I firmly believe in honour and returning a favour, as our settlements have always done through the years. Maybe if you joined this group on their quest to stop the undead attacks and the wolves they would feel inclined to help you with the spirits afterwards
She raises her eyebrows, looking quite intently at everyone gathered in the room, before motioning across the table to finally give the others a chance to respond.
OOC:
Glitterhall is about 3 days from Bromwich on foot. I would agree that anyone that knows anything about the area of Bromwich and the Mistspire Mountains would know Maighan's family name, but not her personally.
Jun 25, 2019 6:04 pm
Maighan nods in response. "Lives are not yet in danger, Lady, but our people are growing edgy. Fights are breaking out. Simple ones, when I left three days ago, fistfights and shouting matches, but there will come a time when they come to serious blows."

She looks about to the others, lips pursed in thought. "You raise an excellent point, though. Help earned through shared striving is usually more sincere than help merely hired. If these others would accept what meager assistance I can offer, I would gladly offer it."
Jun 25, 2019 11:47 pm
Alata leans against the wall crossing his arms while he listens to her ramble on.

"There was talk about the wolfs. They thought I would be the next best help while Mandrake has things to take care of."
Jun 25, 2019 11:50 pm
Mönkhbat declines a chair, preferring to stand. His eyes glaze over as Lady Elayne conducts the meeting, only snapping out of his inner thoughts when his name is called. He gives a dismissive shrug and nod of his head, signaling that his participation is garnered as he's got nothing better to do.

He looks over at Maighan as the topic shifts to her clan. "Wait," he says in brief interruption, "thought you said you guys didn't like fighting each other."
Jun 25, 2019 11:59 pm
"Theres fighting and then killing. It's two different things." Alata says in a bit of a disgust once he realizes he stood up for the dwarf.
Jun 26, 2019 12:19 am
"Yeah, but she said it's about to get serious," says Mönkhbat, completely oblivious to whatever animosity may be in the air. The half-orc's expression is one of confusion. "If you all can get to that point, just do that to your kin. I dunno, seems like the best way to resolve them diff'rences with your elders."
Jun 26, 2019 8:52 am
Nàdair considers Lady Elayne's question. "I don't think father Mikhael actually saw the necromancer, but it seems that some graves were dug up recently. I think Elijah mention the attacks at Hadrigan's swamp were likely from undead as well... and now we have dwarven ancestor popping up!". She plays her lute and with a quick gesture chalices of wine show up on the table, one right were Elayne assumes hers should be. "If Glenk and the boys are looking into the merchant ward's crimes, Fegstaf and the druids into keeping the werewolves away and finding Oma Salie and you have Mikhail attending the business with the Stormlash tribes, then it only leaves us with this necromancer business to attend..."

Nàdair turns to the dwarf lady "Daughter of THE Kardak Stonebreak you mean? My apologies, I did not recognize you. Our paths crossing may not be a coincidence if all these undead businesses have the one same source. Having your axe with us would be a of great comfort, and I'll be sure to add my songs to your cause.". She then turns to Mönkhbat and explains "If the dwarves are turning on their own kin, then we can only assume the elders have lost control..."
OOC:
soooo, who is this Kardak Stonebreak fella again?

Mönkhbat blinks. "What? All I's saying is it don't make sense if they's saying they don't wanna fight themselves, except they's fighting themselves. If they's got their problems with their ancestors and they don't wanna use an axe, seems like using their fists is acceptable?"
Jun 26, 2019 8:17 pm
OOC:
Stonebreak is one of the two ruling clans of Glitterhall. Maighan's father is the head of the Stonebreak clan.
"Maybe I wasn't very clear," Maighan breaks in as the others argue. "Fistfights are fine, there are always arguments that break out. But with all of the worries over the spirits of ancestors roaming Glitterhall and people not sure what to do about it, small arguments turn into big ones. My father is concerned that big arguments will become open fighting and eventually worse. I think -- I hope -- we are a long way from that, but the worry is there."

Maighan turns to Nadair and inclines her head. "I am really no one of note, so it's hardly worth apologizing. Besides, you don't want me getting an overinflated sense of my own fame and importance. I'm hard enough to deal with when I'm humble," she says with a wink. "My father always says so, anyway. In any case, my brothers are the axe wielders, but I'm not defenseless. I might be of some help in other ways. If all of these issues, both back home and closer here to Bromwich, stem from the same cause..."
Jun 26, 2019 9:21 pm
Speaking of fistfights.... There's this one tale about Maighan's father that has been going around, more "heroic" each time you hear it: story goes he has singlehandedly (literally, he never put down his beer) stopped the biggest brawl of the century. Details are fuzzy, everyone involved was quite intoxicated and he never tells it the same way twice.
OOC:
anyone wanting to see what they know about spirits, give me a religion or arcana check

Roddric seeing what he recollects about spirits:
