Zale splashes forward, his feet light on the water's surface but heavy on the shark's lit up face.
OOC:
I keep moving after attacking (45ft speed, and no OA thanks to Drunken Master style). By the end of the round I am at (or on?) the wreck.

Jack blinks as the little shark tries to attack him. Looking at the rapier in his hand, he thinks on his aquatic predicament and the blade shimmers into that of a shortsword. He drops below the water and stabs at the baby shark with the newly formed blade.

There's a lot of blood in the water now. No doubt it'll draw more ravenous hunters, as will the sounds of battle! And now the Coven surely knows you're here!

OOC:
If that was a crit you'd roll an additional 2d6 damage. Sadly it's not a crit because Frostbite doesn't require an attack roll.

Right Shark fails his CON save. 3 cold damage, and Disadvantage on next attack.

Are you sure you want to move to the derelict without disengaging? You'll provoke opportunity attacks from both Right Shark and Left Shark.

If there is only one way below deck, Zale waits there for one of the hags to emerge, then attempt a Stunning Strike.

Rolls

1d20+6 : (7) + 6 = 13

1d6+3 : (4) + 3 = 7

Jineer rings Left Shark's bell, and it goes belly up.

Zale prepares to stun the first hag that shows itself, but nothing comes up the hatch. There doesn't seem to be any other way up, unless there's an underwater entrance, like a hole in the hull or something like that. He hears Lena crying below. At least that means she's still alive.

Scared off by Nela's mean stare, Right Shark turns and attacks Jineer, but its frostbitten jaws fail to land a bite. (miss)

Wounded by Jack, Baby Shark goes for Ian. The baby is a quick learner, and tears a chunk out of the already wounded First Mate. (14 piercing damage)

Drawn by all the blood, a school of razorfish comes swarming in, swirling around Jack and nipping at Grog's heels. (Jack takes 15 piercing damage. Grog takes 8 piercing damage after damage resistance.)
OOC:
Grog, Ian, and Jack in any order. Zelrion and Phillip may also join the fray.

It seemed to me that Zelrion and i were still about the town talking about how he feel down yadda yadda. But i think the last post i had had me start moving towards the hut
[ +- ] Zelrion
Phillip starts making his way towards the hut.
Jul 8, 2019 10:17 pm
Phillip finds pretty much what the others found earlier:
Quote:
The group makes its way to the Coven's hut. It's just as Zale last saw it, more a sagging pile of debris than a hut. Picking through it, the group finds the sort of weird objects one might expect of a hag's home: assorted eyeballs, bones, and other animal body parts, pickled or otherwise preserved, strange fetishes made of driftwood and seaweed, stones with profane runes scratched into their surface, unidentifiable potions and brews.

The cleft in the rock does indeed hide stone steps leading downward. They're slick with lichen but reasonably safe to descend.

"Hey! Stop playing with the fishes down there! We need to see if Magda's Safe!" Phillip starts his way down the stairs carefully.
Jul 10, 2019 2:26 pm
Phillip, this island isn't what they promised in the brochure but you gotta admit the views are pretty spectacular. As you descend the stone steps you hear the sounds of the fight echoing up. Sure beats poolside pilates.

Battle Music!

Ian makes for the wreck and joins Zale by the hatch.

Grog stabs at the pesky razorfish! (4 + 4 piercing damage) The fish scatter, as if something other than Grog has scared them off... (everyone in/on the water may take opportunity attacks vs. fleeing fish/sharks)

The hatch flies open, and Gemma comes scuttling out. Zale's flying fist surprises her, but she dodges it by mere inches. The hag tears into the water genasi with teeth and claws. (18 piercing + 16 slashing)

Jack, the only one underwater, sees them coming but it's too late to warn anyone. With a groan, a lumbering giant, made entirely of seaweed and driftwood, bursts from the water in between the party and the wreck, Magda and Lilith perched on its shoulders.

"You idiots are too late! My sisters and I already ate the little brat!" Magda exults.

The mass of seaweed clubs Grog squarely on the head with a driftwood branch, but the raging dwarf hardly feels it. (6 bludgeoning after DR)

Jineer doesn't do so well; another driftwood branch comes down and smashes the wind out of her sails! (19 bludgeoning)

It's déjà vu for Nela as grabbing vines encircle her waist. (7 bludgeoning, and Grappled. Can spend action for DC 15 escape.)

The grabbing vines reach for Jack too, but he manages to dodge them with some fancy swimming.

Magda croaks an incantation, causing even more entangling seaweed to sprout and grab everyone touching water. Grog and Jack muscle free, and Jineer's spell allows her to slip free, but Nela is held fast! (Entangle. Nela, is Restrained. Can attempt DC 13 STR save on her turn to escape.) With a laugh, Magda turns invisible and dives into the water.

Hairs on the backs of necks stand on end as Lilith conjures an angry stormcloud high up in the cavern ceiling and brings a bolt of lightning stabbing down on the water. (Call Lightning. Nela and Jack take 14 lightning damage. Jineer takes half.) Dozens of lightning-slain fish bob up to the water's surface.

Illuminated by the lightning flash, Lilith changes appearance right before everyone's eyes, transforming from a very ugly woman to a truly horrifying monster!
