One issue with Fog Cloud is that we also cannot see. We could certainly orient ourselves for the bridge before the spell is cast, but once we're over the bridge we'll be moving blindly.

I think if we are to cast Fog Cloud, we'd do it when we're about to enter the west door and place it on the road so that we're just outside the area of effect. That way it shields us from view and gives Ember time to unlock the door.

Except a sudden cloud of fog could potentially draw attention in and of itself, depending on weather conditions.

If we hide out in the dim, cross the river away from town, and slink in using cover and concealment then our plan isn't thwarted by good weather.

Also... from a meta standpoint if we can save the resource we probably should. Don't know that we'll land too many long rests once we hit those tunnels.

Edit: I was typing while CancerMan was posting. Valid point about our lack of vision as well.

Seems like we have a near consensus for approaching from Cecily’s road. If we do so late at night there will probably be fewer watchers, but this is a rural community, so I’d expect a lot of dogs or ducks…

Also, if Myrtha were leading a militia to secure a town such as this, there would be permanent guard posts on each main artery, so we’ll probably run into that kind of defensive arrangement as we approach. We should avoid any light sources, and perhaps have scouts slightly ahead to make sure that we see any guard posts before we are spotted.

Agreed, Chase can scout the way ahead to avoid any sentries.

Note: KidEnnui silently dropped out of the game. I followed up with him, and he admitted that it was not a mistake; he's backing away from PbP. So for the time being, I will be playing Jonel as an NPC while I open the recruitment thread to see if anyone else wants to join.
